[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery

Nod ya head yes if I should enter, or no if I shouldn't. *Stroaks his beard* Or should I burn the place down instead and deal with it that way? Place is old and abandoned, so nobody would miss it if went up in flames, and Brigid's Inferno should do a fine job of exorcising whatever spiritual beings lurk here if there are any. Wouldn't have to step into a haunted domain too and subject myself to its whims, and I can just shift through the ashes later for clues or uncombusted nick-knack if we stick around long....."

Amethyst looks appalled at the thought of burning the place down, and promptly nods.

At his white crusader's mortification, Ran let off a couple of short, gruff chuckles and patted her in what he hoped was a consoling manner.

"Ha ha! Relax girl, I'm just pulling on ya ruff! I'm not that fed up with the supernatural that I'd turn to arson to solve my problems them! Least, not yet, or without a damn good reason, anyway!"

Then, without further ado, he decided to knock on the door and holler "Hello? Anyone home, or am I just talking to ghosts here?"

Hey, it'd be rude to barge in unannounced, and while Ran is a rude man, he is not completely without manners or etiquette!

Yay, if all seems well and they're even invited to come in by that Hiker, Kee's not going to hesitate, so into that strange house he and blue faeeveelution go. It's immediately very relieving and pleasing to escape the cold out there, Stella goes off to lay down as close to the nice fireplace as she can and is allowed to. All while carrying the blanket smelling after her Ninetales-mum with herself.

This place being a literal mess doesn't seem to bother our poisonous muscian either. Maybe - probably - because his own place doesn't look so much tidier. That's also what he'll express towards the Hiker after they are apologizing over it. "Nah, it's all fine. It's s'pposed to be a home, not a museum, and as long none's hurt, it's fine." He and Octavia get themselves comfy rather quickly. "Oh yeah, coffee sounds good, thanks a bunch!~" Kee tends to add lotsa sugar and a bit of milk.

He takes a little until responding, ponders appropriate words. "Let's see, what's bringing us towards this place at all... How about calling it a 'job', some sort of 'quest' you'd expect in any fantasy movie. Nothing illegal or shady, though, and we're not in to harm any people or Pokemon... Ugh, nope, nothing of that sort. Mount Coronet's the destination.... Do tell, if you're living here all secluded and close to that mountain, have ya ever scaled it? You look like the type of guy who'd be totally capable of doing so."

Another thought comes to Kee that he'll drop!~ "Oh, also..." *glancing over to that knocked-down shelf* "How 'bout we'll help you with that b'fore we'll need to get back to that business? It look like that happened b'cause we caught you completely off-guard by stepping by for a visit."

"Ah, a job at Mt, Coronet, eh?  One of those fancy research jobs, I take it?" After clearing some space on the table (by dumping the contents on the floor), the hiker sets a kettle of warm coffee down and puts out a few cups.  "Help yourself.  Yup, scaled Mt. Coronet plenty of times in all my time living out here.  Never gone all the way to Spear Pillar, but I've reached the area around the peak plenty o' times.  Been a bit difficult to scale the mountain recently, though.  Blizzards have been too strong.  Keep dropping stuff whenever one hits, annoyingly.  And they always seem to start as soon as I go anywhere near the mountain, too."

The hiker waves off the generous offer to help clean up.  "Eh, it's fine.  Not your problem.  I'll clean it up later."

"Huh.....well, don't mind if I let myself in, then."

Which Ran does so promptly, recalling Amethyst and Catherine to their Pokeballs before entering the musty old house. Normally he wouldn't walk into a  SPOOKY PLACE without plenty of protection of one form or another, but their was a chance that if this place was haunted he'd get zlitch out of investigating it if he had two prophetic Pokemon out skulling around with him. When the supernatural wasn't clearly out to fuck with ya, it tended to be the shy sort that didn't want to be figured out easily (or at all more commonly), so he'd likely have to suss out and play by this place's rules if he wanted to uncover anything about. Joy.

Oi, Kee happily and thankfully helps himself with the coffee. A warm and sugary beverage is just the best when you're fresh outta the freezing cold outside, aww!~ In a free cup he pours a bit of milk, adds a lot of sugar and places it down for Octavia to nip on, soon Stella comes over too. The sparkling faeeveelution readily shares with her fox-sister.

"Uh.... Yeah, some kind of research, in the name of Professor Rowan. Right, Karen?" He nudges her gently and gives her a semi-nervous smile, as if to nonverbally tell her 'Please say something too in this tricky situation!' Then he changes the topic from said job to the mountain itself. "Ah, thought so!~ And how it like at the peak, so up high? The view must be MAGNIFICIENT -" *excessively wide handgestures* " - and the air wonderfully clean! And probably icy cold, even colder than down here.... Speaking 'bout cold, those blizzards you're mentionin' that are preventing ya from scaling Coronet again, don't ya find it strange that they SEEMINGLY accelerate when you get close to that mountain? Sounds a bit as if it wants to prevent people from getting too close, as if somethin' must be protected or such. Heard in Snowpoint that the blizzards have become stronger in the are as well." He pauses here to take a big sip of hot coffee.

"Oh right, I've got plently of Safety Googles... Ya want one to protect yourself from that hail and icy winds? If ya constantly drop or loose stuff, maybe check your bag for holes or such, me feels if you drop something small in snow as high as out there -" *pointing towards the window* "- you'll need a whole bagpack of luck and blessing to find it 'gain."

"If you trying to surprise a Ninja, you failed girl." Kogeki said to the Ninja girl. He see the Ace trainer. "I kinda want to test the power of my Pokemon, so how about a double battle against both of you?"

I want to challenge Ace Trainer Jacob and Ninja Girl Cassidy. It is the first time Kogeki meet another ninja outside of Tsukinami! Besides, this is a interesting kind of double battle to go against.

Stealth: (5)(5)(5)(4)(4)(1)(1)(4)(2) 5 successes
Alert: (6)(5)(2)(3)(1)(6)(5)(5)(6) 6 successes

Ninja Girl Cassidy failed her stealth check, so that's exactly what happens!  She emerges from the pile of snow she was hiding in, looking a little disappointed in herself.  "Aw man, I was soooo hoping that was going to work."  She looks to be about 10 years old.

I found some fan art of a (Gen 3 style) ninja girl, by the way!

Ace Trainer Jacob walks up at the same time that Cassidy spots Kogeki.  He's got that look in his eyes that all pokemon trainers tend to have when they spot another on the road: that look that means it's time for a battle!  "...well, how about it, ninja girl?  He looks tough.  I'd be down for a challenge."

Cassidy: "...mmmm...okay, I guess...I hope you're ready to face my sneaky ninja techniques, mister!"

Jacob and Cassidy will each use two pokemon.

Kogeki chuckle a bit. "Young lady, you should sharp your stealth skills more. You can't surprise a old experience ninja."

Kogeki choose Aspido and Susano'o as fighter choices for this match.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

The interior of the building looks and feels like nothing like Randolph was likely expecting.  It's warm and cozy, the bed in the corner is made, there's a candle lit on a table in the dining area, there's a pot of something cooking on the stove (and it smells delicious, too!)...

Though thanks to Lucas's recounting of his own experiences, Randolph probably isn't surprised to see what looks like an elderly lady sitting at the table.  "Oh?  Ah, a visitor.  It's been so long since someone's paid this dingy old place a visit.  Come, come, have a seat."

Ninja Girl Cassidy sends out a Golbat, and Ace Trainer Jacob sends out a Flareon!

Multi Battle Round 1 Initiatives
Susano'o: (5) + 9 = 14
Flareon: (2) + 11 = 13
Golbat: (1) + 9 = 10
Aspido: (1) + 9 = 10

Karen starts a little, surprised by Kee nudging her.  She was gawking at how messy the place is.  "...oh, uh...yup, definitely a research mission for Professor Rowan, 100%!"

Hiker: "Yes indeedee.  The view from up there is fantastic.  You can see almost every location in Sinnoh from up that high, provided you're on the right side of the mountain to see said landmarks.  The only one ya can't spot is Spear Pillar.  Too many clouds obscuring the peak of the mountain.  Air gets a little too thin to make your way up there by scaling the sides.  The caves are much easier to traverse if you don't take the wild pokemon into account."

"Strange?  Well yeah, of course I find it strange.  Not something I'm likely to be able to deal with, though.  Ice isn't kind to my trusty Graveler.  Best I can do is warn passerby of the danger.  Might be better to turn around and head back to Snowpoint until this all eventually blows over, I reckon.  Haven't heard about Snowpoint gettin' a strange amount of blizzards lately, though.  Must be a recent development if it is."

The hiker politely declines the Safety Goggles.  "I've lived out here longer than I'd care to admit.  You get used to losing stuff in the snow, and the hail doesn't really bother me any no more.  If you want to look around and happen to find some of my stuff, though, you're free to keep it for yourself.  Might be easier if you have a dowsing machine or somesuch, but you never know what you'll find out there with or without one if ya don't look!"

"Really?  Are you sure about that?"

"'Course I'm sure.  Ain't my right to keep it if I didn't go to the effort of findin' it, after all."
