[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
(11-01-2019, 06:39 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: Ran resists the urge to get more snippish at his crone hostess when she gets a kick out of his cold-induced misery and launch into another tirade about the horrendous weather and lack of sensibilities of youth these days, and instead opts to let out a slightly irritable *Sigh* and slumps in his seat, grumbling a bit too while he was at it.

"....Should be a crime against nature for it to be so arsch scheuernd kalt, and no man nor Pokemon should suffer it. Bah.....!"

He does straighten up when she laughs at him being direct as a kick to a head, and her commenting as such is meet with a sort of gruff, blase, and unapologetic attitude on his part.

"No, I don't. Least, when it comes to important and series business, or things concerning me and my own. Time spent dilly dallying to the point of such is time wasted that I ain't getting a rebate for, 'less there's no way for me to get at an issue quick as a Rapidash *Snorts* Or on the off chances the prattling or diversion actually turns out to be worth a damn and a half, but that's so rare for me that its like stubbing on a Nugget on the way to the store."

At her confirmation that elderly woman at least and indeed does know what's going on the area, the bristly blacksmith's attention is fully piqued, and her solicitation of a favor for her Knowledge is meet with honest surprise. Not because she was making such a deal, no, but because....

"Huh....funny ya asking for me help, 'cause I was going to offer it myself for the hospitality you've given me. Hmpt....that, and putting up with my grumpy o'l self , no matter how short a time that's been. I ain't the easiest to get along with as most people would say, much less be generous with, so I'm happy to provide ya any kind of help I can give, with or without reward. *Huffs* Now, what'cha be needing me to do? If its repairs or making you something, I can get that done in a jiffy."

As she sips on her tea(?), she states her request with all the nonchalance in the world.

"I just need you to help take care of an old friend of mine, dearie.  They've gotten a little out of control lately, and for the darndest reasons, I can't seem to figure out why.  With the weather all out of whack, I can't even leave my home to check on the situation, let alone even get near my old friend.  A frail old lady like me would likely just be blown away by those whimsical winds."

She sets her mug down and looks at Randolph, hands folded in front of her on the table.  "Well?  Simple enough, yes?"

(I'll let you use that Full Heal before the Round begins since you didn't use any items in Round 3.  Keep in mind that I might not always be that generous, though, as Trainer Actions are supposed to happen after pokemon have used each set of attacks)

Multi Battle Round 4

Shenzi gets the first move this time since Nagi might be using Dream Eater.  She bites at her sleeping rival.

Fire Fang 1
(6)(5)(3)(4)(6)(2)(4) Her fangs are red hot, and the sun only makes them hotter!  Critical hit!
(6)(4)(4)(3) Luxray takes 3 damage and faints!

Jacob very quickly recalls Luxray into its pokeball and starts getting a Full Heal ready.  With Luxray dealt with, Nagi can now focus all of his efforts on Dusclops (who isn't currently Flinched because that was expended in the prior Round)

Hidden Power Fire 1
(6)(2)(2)(5)(2)
(4)(2)(4)(1)(4) Dusclops takes 3 damage 1/9 HP -3 Pain

Cassidy panics slightly when Luxray faints, and in an act of desperation, Dusclops lashes out at Nagi with a fist that appears from the shadows cast by the sunlight.

Shadow Punch 1
10 - 3 - 2 = 5
(4)(2)(3)(4)(1)
2* Str + 2 Pow + STAB - 2 Def + SE = 3 D6 + 1
(6)(6)(3) Nagi takes 3 damage and faints!

Shenzi growls at the Ghost and leaps right at them, completely unafraid!

Crunch 2
(4)(5)(5)(1)(1)(5)
Dusclops takes at least 1 damage and faints!

Ninja Girl Cassidy takes a deep breath, but doesn't seem to be that disappointed with the outcome since her pokemon got a KO.  "Wow mister, your pokemon are really strong.  Is it okay if I pet one of your doggies?  They look so strong and cute!"

Ace Trainer Jacob, meanwhile, is a little more reserved about losing.  "Tsk.  Well done, I guess."  He doesn't have much more to say about that.

Ed gets 7 exp because of the exp share, the 5 combatants split 7 exp as equally as they can (three of them get 1, two of them get 2), and Kogeki gets 7 exp.

Kogeki also gets $2000 for winning (most of those funds come from Jacob, much to his annoyance) and a TM for either Aerial Ace or Dark Pulse (pick one)

(By the way, you don't have to tag me every time you post in one of my threads, Spirit. I get an Alert from the forums whenever there's new posts in my threads, so tagging me doubles down on the Alerts almost unnecessarily [unless I happen to be behind on reading the new stuff, but I try to stay caught up])

Kogeki return Nagi back to his Pokeball. "The Pokemon of you two is also strong. Susano'o and Izanagi is two of my stronger Pokemon, and you two was able to faint them. It is impressive."

With the request of petting one of his doggies, Kogeki think for a second. "I suppose. I would recommend pet Shenzi, since she is a bit overprotective with Ed, so I think there is no probs about it."

As for XP, Gama and Nagi get 2 XP and the rest 1 XP.

As for TM...I think I take Aerial Ace. It is a good counter move to Fighting and Grass types in general with either Gama or Susano'o. Is Gama capable of learn such move? Or it is just like Iron campaign and he can only learn ??? Moves?

Also, it is possible to upgrade Dark Pulse via XP like in Iron campaign with 30 XP to become a spread move?

Also, I making a quick change in my team: Both Susano'o and Izanagi will return to the PC to receive medical attention, and put Monferno and Izanami to the party.

Also, I letting Aspido out to take chances in the Sunny Day to restore his berry.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.

Shenzi's not exactly comfortable with being pet, but she puts up with it since Cassidy doesn't seem to be afraid of her.

TM compatibility will follow Bulbapedia's listings in this game.  Same with tutor and egg moves.

Probably.  I'm still determining exact exp costs for Surprises, tbh.

Pokemon deposited in the PC will be fully healed after the next encounter is completed.

With Sunny Day active, the Sitrus Berry is regrown very quickly.

Ran slightly arches an eyebrow at her request, not because it was outlandish or unreasonable but because how non-descriptively she phrased it. It didn't prevent him from seeing/finding the deeper meaning in her words by any means, as he was one Smart, paranoid, and mean cookie and was aware of her/The House's less than typical nature, but that also didn't prevent him from feeling fairly suspicious and cautious about it. Typically in his experience, the less someone explicitly says about a request, job, or duty, the more likely the hard and fine details of it are either non-existent for various foreboding reasons or are just plain unpleasant themselves. Most frequently, this belief of his was proven true in his blacksmithing career when customers gave him shady/nebulous requests, and it was just recently and most adamantly reinforced by Rowan and the almost literally god forsaken job he damn near duped him and his partner into.

Despite that, he ended up shrugging his shoulder and agreeing to the elderly crone's request. Partially out of obligation for the sacred hospitality she gave him, but partially because from his brief interactions with her he was not getting  any bad vibes from her, and therefore was willing to extend a modecrum of trust to the old woman. That, and he needed ANY information on what in the gelid hell was going on with the Routes and the supernatural force behind it, and as the saying goes 'beggars can't be choosers.'

"Alright, I'll go and settle down that friend of yours. By force even, if that need be the case. 'Fore I go do that, though, care to share any details about your friend and suggestions as to how ya think they should be handled, so I ain't going in to deal with them totally blind like a Zubat? *Huffs* In the metaphorical sense, I mean - the white outside might make a 'good' enough effort to give me snow blindness anyway....."

With that done, since we still have time, I also use a simple Potion to heal Gama HP, since he did a amazing battle. And with that decided, I take Aerial Ace. Kogeki approach Gama and Ed, with Shenzi in his side. "How you like it Ed? Your mother is pretty strong. With the right training, you gonna become strong too. By the way Gama, I have something for ya." Kogeki take away in his bag the TM he get. "Aerial Ace. I know how much you wanted this move. It is another counter move against grass types. And with Protean, you can become flying type." Reaction towards the new TM maybe?

With the battle done, Kogeki return to the group. But not before he return both Ed and Shenzi (since he wants to avoid Kee aversion to dog like Pokemon).

"How I think they should be handled?  Honestly, it doesn't paticularly matter.  Handle them however you wish.  I just need this Arceus forsaken blizzard to settle down so I can deal with them myself later if necessary."

"As for details...well, you might find this interesting.  I can tell you have a...ghostly presence about you."

The old woman pulls a piece of paper out of her pocket and sets it on the table for Randolph to pick up.  Strange symbols are inscribed on it.

It's unmistakably a Spell Tag.

"That should help you with locating that friend of mine.  Or maybe their affinity for the spiritual will draw them to you instead.  Hehehehe."

The laugh is somehow both lighthearted and unnerving simultaneously.

The elderly lady then coughs and continues.  "If you need some further assistance, I've seen a strange Wingull flying around recently.  I don't know where they came from, but dark clouds seem to follow in their wake wherever they go.  I imagine they'd be a powerful ally.  Unfortunately, as confined to my home as I am, I'm afraid I can't be much more help than what I've offered already."

(You mean Karen, not Kee, right?)

Ed barks in response, very happy and carefree.  He likes this so much better than being stuck in that old, cold temple.  Shenzi can't help but grin with a very toothy smile.  +1 Happiness for Shenzi.

Gama coolly accepts the TM, 100% ready to use and abuse his Ability.  Even though it's hard to tell, he's excited about having a counter type for some of his typical weaknesses.

"*Firmly nods* Alright, will do mam. Hopefully I won't need to have my partners mash their noggin against the frost 'n snow covered earth to get your friend to calm and cool off once we pin them down, but if U-turns out like that....*Shrugs* "

The dwarven craftsman again raises an eyebrow at her uncannily Insightful read on him but says nothing, yet he had plenty to think about it.

'How in Charizard Blazes did she figure out THAT about me? Did this house pick that info up about me somehow and feed it to her somehow, or is there more to this woman than meets me Keen Eyes? *Mental Grumbles* Knowing my recent run of 'luck' m probably both or for other reasons I can't fathom. *Mental Snort* Bah, it hardly matters. I ain't interested nor have a reason in figuring out this place's or crone's secrets, and so long as both be hospitable and homely that'll remain the case.'

When she proffers a Spell Tag to him, though, the elderly lady gets a double Encore of raised eyebrows, and her vague comment and polite cackle fiercely renews his interest in her. For a moment he nearly forgone all pretenses and started grilling her about who or what she is and why she's being so bloody damn mysterious.

He valiantly resists the urge, however, almost but not quite biting back a grumpy *Sigh* as he takes the Spell Tag and nods to the old lady. Though Ran would love to have those answers, he doubts the woman would be so forthcoming with them given her recent behavior (just like a certain old ruins caretaker), and if she was it'd probably raise even more questions and ultimately waste both their time, something of which neither has much in abundance currently.

"*Sighs* ....If ya haven't been so nice and honest with me so far, I'd be quite inclined to say you're acting suspicious as a Growlite 'round an upturn and empty cookie jar. *Snorts* Probably wouldn't mind nor care if I did, so I suppose it hardly matters.

His tenuously good mood is bolstered when she brings up that peculiar Wingull gliding around the area, grabbing tightly at his interest and bringing a bonifide smile to his bearded face.

"You don't say, huh? *Chuckles* Have been looking for a choice member of that species of Pokemon for ages now, and by the sound of it they definitely fit the bill. Well, I'll certainly keep my eyes peels for that odd birdie too, so thank ya for telling me about them mam. "

Ran then grunts and frowns, transitioning sharply right back into professional seriousness.

"Believe it's high time for me to find ya friend, so if ya can tell me where I should start for them in the not so mild and merry snowfields outside, I'll be off to find and sort them out in a jiffy. Otherwise, it'll take who knows how long for either of us to stumble into each other, and the less the less time I have to treck through the miserable cold out there looking for them, the better."

When he leaves the house to do so, he'll summon Amethyst + Stymph and have them assist him, via the former using their Future Sight, doom sense, the later's flight capability, and both's natural tracking instincts . Additionally, he also fills them in about the whole story/deal surrounding the old lady and this unruly 'friend' she wants pacified, and tells them to be on the lookout for any spooky, supernatural, or Ghostly presences while rooting around the snow for them. He strongly suspects this 'friend' of the elderly lady is some sort of Ghost of a currently indeterminable amount of risk attached to dealing with them, so he'd take precautionary measures for that possibility, just in case.

Oh, and they get orders to keep watch for any strange Wingull with stormclouds seemingly following it about, as he most assuredly wants to meet up with them to see if they have the qualities he's looking for....

"As I said, the Spell Tag will either lead you to them...or the other way around.  That being said, I do know they're not on this Route.  And if they were in Snowpoint, that much would be obvious.  Route 216 would be my best guess for where they're hiding."

The elderly lady waves as Randolph turns to leave.  "Farewell!  Don't let the chill freeze you solid now!  My friend would oh so love it if that happened, and we don't want such a fate to befall you, now, do we?  Hehehehe."

Amethyst and Stymph will both be on the lookout for sure.  Stymph finds it a little difficult to fly straight whenever the winds pick up, though.
