[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
(11-10-2019, 01:46 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote:

Randolph nearly scowls back to the wee lass at her thankful remark, but instead lets out a snort and shakes his head grumpily.

"No problem, lass. Don't know where ya got the notion I'm fine with this Articuno awful frigid weather, though, 'cause I absolutely DESPISE with all my being. I ain't liking it like Miss Jackie Frost does, no way no how."

"*Huffs* .....But I can tolerate it , since we got this gottverdammt job to do, and I'm not about to let some daft chill Freeze me in my tracks EVER. So I just grit my teeth, Bewear it, and push on through. That's all I can do right now, really.  *Hmps* 'Sides, I've been on jobs rougher than it it right now, and I got my Torkoal Brigid to warm us up if the cold because completely intolerable. So you could say I'm used to and well prepared for it all by now. Bah...."

(...)

Hearing the cyborg ninja moaning about the Spiritual Trio again, the bristly blacksmith stomps right over to them and slaps them across the upper portion of their thigh, and looks up to them with a stern, commanding frown.

"Cut it out with the gripping, Kogeki. Look, I sympathize with ya about the Pixies lacking in Deus Ex Machina for us all, or the lack of aid they can give you right now. Believe you me, I understand the frustration, injustice, and anger you feel towards them more than ya know. *Shakes Head* Whining about it helps nobody, though, and it's starting to wear on our nerves - or at least mine. Pretty piss poor idea to keep ragging on them too, since when they do regain their full Legendary power they'll be less inclined to help you and more so dolling out some divine retribution your way. Or totally dismissing you and you pleas at best if you've gotten permanently on their bad side."

"*Shakes Head* Not to say you ain't entitled to feel as you do. Hell, be as bitter and Grudging about the Pixies and other Legendaries as ya like! Just keep it to yourself. Alright?"

Well, that was harsh. Harsh.....but justified, at least to Ran. Complaining about the Spiritual Trio does no one good, brings down morale, and causes strain among the group, so he wants it stopped post haste, and he isn't afraid to be the one to tell it to the sly Stealth specialist. Hopefully they'll listen to him, especially since he's been extremely helpful and supportive of them thus far....

(...)

At first, midget man could only do a double take at the happily sparking sea birdie, but he swiftly recovered and grimaced as he realized he and Stymph was dealing with some sort of Electric Delta Wingull, one of the worst possible opponents his metallic avian partner could get into a scrap with.

'Ah, rostet und trübt Stahlteile. Das ist nicht die Art von Wingull, von der ich gehofft hatte, sie überhaupt zu finden. *Tsk* Still, it's a unique little birdie and Stymph is now all rilled up to tussle with them, so I guess I'll just have to make do!'
Translation: Ah, rust and tarnish steel parts. This ain't the sort of Wingull I was hoping to find at all.
With that thought, defiant determination flooded through Randolph as he bared his teeth like a Mightyena and started barking out Orders like one too!

"Stymph, whip up the air current around ya to create a Tailwind, and launch into a Fury Attack on that Wingull! It's got the feather up on ya Type wise, so you got to make up for that disadvantage with pure aggression! Get it done, partner!"

Orders: One Tailwind from Stymph, followed by a 3 X Fury Attack (Which should be okay to do, right?) ! Got to hammer away at the lighting glider quickly, before it can electro-fry the Steel valkrye ! If Delta Wingull falls below 1/2 HP, Ran will start trying to tossing Great Balls at it!  Which Flying Type will prove superior? Probably D-Wingull, but hey, I'm prepared for that outcome!

Moves:

Tailwind
Accuracy: DEX (3) + Fight (3) + Channel (2) - 2 Actions = 6D6 Base Dice
Effect: + 2 DEX for Stymph and Ran's Team for 4 Rounds!

Fury Attack!
Accuracy: DEX (*5) + Fight (3) + Brawl (3) - 4/6/8 Actions = 7/5/3D6 Base Dice
Damage: STR (4) + 1 = 5D6 Base Damage
Effect: Mult-Hit Attack!
Note: If anyone of her Fury Attacks would miss, have her spend a Conditional Willpoint to make it hit!

When Rans call his attention towards his hatred to the Lake Trio, Kogeki could feel himself get some of his anger out. And after a time my I develop a hatred towards Legendary. *Sigh* However, we one a mission to go towards Mt. Coronet. "Also...Thank you Randolph. I promised to keep my hatred on check. Just...dont expect me ask the aid of Legendary Pokemon. My own gods forsake me once. And I forsake then a long time ago." Kogeki keep the last words as his last ones, promising to not speak about it ever again.

Lucas tries to avoid being overly negative, though he's frowning as Kogeki badmouths his friends.  "I'm sure they'd help us more if they could.  They wouldn't have asked us to do this if they didn't think we could handle it."  He sighs.  "...just so you know, I'm almost certain that Uxie knows exactly how critical you're being of them.  You're probably not earning any favors with them with that attitude."

He doesn't say much in response during Randolph's own comments on Kogeki's attitude, just silently nods in agreement.  One bad apple can ruin the bunch, as they say. Lucas can sympathize with Kogeki's situation a little, but he's not gonna sit idly by while Kogeki roasts good friends of his.

It's after that point that a Togekiss pops out of their pokeball on Lucas's belt, cooing soothingly at Lucas.  He can't help but chuckle and lighten up a little.  "Always on point with the comforting, as usual.  Thanks, Samuel."  Lucas then coughs.  "Well, I'm gonna go do a little scouting, see if I can't spot this Froslass or find clues that point to its location.  Holler if ya need me."

--------------------------------------------

Trying to coordinate 4 pokemon that aren't used to working together is gonna be a challenge!

Ed looks eager to get digging, however!  Oh boy, play time!  +1 Happiness for Ed, and no roll required for him.  He likes being outside.

Hazel the Monferno doesn't have any particular incentives to help, so there's a chance she might Slack Off instead.

Hazel
L: (6)(4)

Nami doesn't usually do manual labor, so she might refuse to help.  Telekinesis also isn't very good at moving snow since the fluffy stuff isn't one big object, so she'll focus on freeing individual objects from it instead if she listens.

Nami
L: (2)(1)(4)
D: (1)(5)(3)(2)

Shenzi also requires an obedience check, mostly because she might opt to do something other than digging.  She's a fighter and a mother, not a worker.

Shenzi
L: (4)(5)
D: (4)(5)(6) (Disobedience is three in this case since the situation doesn't directly involve protecting and caring for Ed in an obvious way)

Shenzi opts to keep watch and sniff around for potentially dangerous wild pokemon instead of digging, though she occasionally glances back at Ed to make sure he's still doing okay.

Nami and Hazel might be reluctant to help at first, but they eventually agree to assist.  Between Hazel melting the snow on the ground, Ed loosening it with his paws, and Nami using Telekinesis on the wagon, Kogeki's not only able to find items in the snow, but also get the wagon out of the deep snow entirely with a little time and elbow grease!  Searching it after that is a breeze.

Kogeki finds the following in the snow and in the wagon itself:
- a bunch of soggy envelopes that look like they contain letters, though none of them seem to have anything noteworthy about them
- a package containing 10 Great Balls, 2 Max Potions, and 1 Max Revive.  The label on it is ruined and impossible to read.
- a TM for Focus Blast
- another package with an unreadable label containing a Charcoal, two Fire Gems, three Occa Berries, three Cheri Berries, three Bluk Berries, three Watmel Berries, a Destiny Knot, and an Everstone with a note attached to it that says:  For your breeding project.  Maybe we'll finally be able to breed a _____________ with these items.  The missing part of the message is smudged and unreadable from moisture that had seeped into the box.  The berries seem to be fine despite the cold, damp conditions, however.

+2 Exp for Kee for the art to support the nonchalance!

"Sounds good to me, man!  Hope you're ready for some totally rad, snow shredding action!"  Dave eagerly shakes Kee's hand, solidifying the terms of battle almost a little too eagerly.

Dave props his snowboard up in the deep snow, then gets two pokeballs out of his backpack.  "Alright, let me see what you can do, dude!  Go, my totally awesome pokemon!"

The first pokemon that the snowboarder sends out isn't unusual.  A Golduck might be an odd choice of pokemon on a snowy route at first, but the skies briefly clear as soon as Golduck leaves its pokeball.  Golduck's Cloud Nine is active.  The totally-not-psychic duck pokemon simply quacks once with arms crossed as it snootily eyes its opponents with an upturned beak.

The second pokemon, however, is one that Kee would recognize as not being native to this region.  At all.  It skids atop the snow with its tail (seemingly unaffected by the deep snow's movement reducing effects as a result), looks like it's wearing a pair of goggles...in short, it looks like a snowboarder itself, and it's a species that Kee would not have expected to see outside of its home region at all, given that it's never been reported to be seen in any region besides Tandor.

The boarder seems to be totally stoked about showing off.  "Pretty rad, right?  I'm thinking they might be a brand new species of pokemon!  Maybe they'll let me name it when I show some super smart researcher what I've discovered!"

Wingull Round 1

This weather is perfect for whipping up a tailwind.  Stymph has no difficulty with performing the move at all with only a single flap of her wings, though lightning crackles overhead even as she does so.  Nevertheless, she shall persevere and prevail!  Skraaaawww!!

Tailwind 1
(4)(4)(5)(2)(4)(5)
+2 Dex for Randolph's side of the battlefield!

The Wingull screeches at its aerial rival, flying in circles and creating a racket in an attempt to disorient her.

Supersonic 1
2 Tough + 3 Fight + 3 Channel - 5 - 2 = 1 D6
(4)
Stymph became Confused!  -2 Accuracy

Stymph begins to chase the Wingull, though the seagull pokemon takes advantage of the Confusion and attempts to lure Stymph close to areas where she's likely to receive a jolt of electricity due to being unable to fly straight.  Wingull clearly isn't concerned for its own safety as far as electricity is concerned.

Fury Attack 2-4 (note that Fury Attack has an innate -2 Accuracy penalty)
(2)(6)(1)
(5)
Not enough dice!  Zap!
5 base - 3 Defense = 2 D6 per hit
(5)(2)
(6)(3)
Wingull takes 2 damage! 3/5 HP -1 Pain
Stymph does 1 damage to herself in her confusion! 8/9 HP

While Stymph is reeling from that static shock and trying to reorient herself after that frenzied chase, Wingull attempts to buffet Stymph with the air currents of her own Tailwind.

Air Cutter 2
9 base - 4 - 1 - 1 Pain = 3

(2)(4)(1)
3 Spe + 2 Pow + STAB - 3 - NVE = 3 D6 - 1
(2)(3)(1) No damage

Stymph holds her form even amidst the storm, but Wingull's wings are now crackling with static electricity!  With a flap of their wings, an electrical current is formed between Wingull and the highly conductive flying type!

Shock Wave 3
(2)(1) Hits regardless
(5)(6)(4) Stymph takes 4 damage! 4/9 HP -2 Pain

Skraaaaaaawwww!!!  Stymph wasn't expecting that Wingull to hit so hard!!  She's so surprised, she doesn't notice that the storm overhead has its sights set on her too!

Stymph is struck by a bolt of lightning and takes 2 damage!  2/9 HP -2 Pain
Wingull is also struck by another bolt of lightning, but takes no damage from it at all.

Stymph is still flying, but only barely.  And she's glaring at her opponent, too.

In contrast to Stymph's bold defiance and near single minded aggression towards the Delta Wingull, Ran leaned far more towards grim foreboding and ponderousness as he closely watched the two avian's battle for air supremacy, trying his damndest to decipher exactly what her unique opponent was capable of. In a way, you could say their attitude perfectly matched the ruinous and rumbling Thunderstorm in the area that seemed to be there at the behest of the galvanized glider...

The dwarven craftsman's mood only worsened after the thunderous birdie got his ironclad valkrye well on the ropes with shocking ease and cleverness, and he decided he'd seen enough and knew what to do now.

"Stymph, back into your Pokeball! No complaining! Amethyst, get on out there and take down that Delta Wingull PRONTO!"

He returned his aerodynamic avian's without waiting for her no doubt bullheaded protest to his decision (For she will NEVER give up in a Fight, no matter how badly she's losing!) and sharply points at the Delta Wingull as a signal for his Dark prophet to start engaging it! Time for her to get a second chance to shine, hopefully radiantly so! At the same time, Ran pulls out a Great Ball from his pack and takes aim at his most ohminous  foe, hoping to Catch it as his partner starts harassing it, or at least distract it enough to make things tolerable for her!

(Amethyst is off to hunt some Rare Wingull! Waiting for Initiatives before I send my Orders for her! Meanwhile, Ran's going to try and Catch it with a Great Ball as/after the 2nd Round starts, as he deems its worth the risk of doing so in line of trying to get it KOed/weakened more and let it or the Thunderstorm play merry hell with him or his partners. If Amethyst refuses to listen for reasons, though, he'll just angrily facepalm, return her, and send out Brigid in her place to do the job instead.)

Amthyst is still reluctant to step onto the battlefield because that lightning is giving her the heebie jeebies every time it strikes, but she does as asked and moves into range of the storm.

Kogeki surpervisioned the process and search of items. With the discoveries he nod his head and thanks each of his Pokemon, including giving a pat in the head of the little Ed. "Excelent job everyone. We find a awesome bunch of items. Including a few healing items who might help us in the future. Might need to talk with Kee about this Destiny Knot later. Speaking of items..."

Kogeki approach Izanami and show her the Focus Blast. "This thing will help increase your mood. You lack in some counter moves against Dark Types, so Focus Blast could be a nice adition to your movepool. What you think girl? Feel on a better mood? Lets return and wait for the others to come. I brush your feathers until they return. I know how much you love have your feathers be brush."

Seeing that Amethyst got the lead on the galvanized glider and is feeling a might Skittish about all the lightning strikes, the bristly blacksmith prompts her to go all in on with her Dark heritage and sends some encouragement her way!

"Alright girl, sink ya fangs into that Delta Wingull, then lay on the hurt with Assurance and finish them off with Pursuit! Take them down fast, and you won't have to worry about getting zapped by all the damn lightning those stormclouds of its are raining down on ya! I believe in you CAN do it easy as pie, so do it Amethyst! "

Orders: Amethyst (if she listens) will give Delta Wingull a chomping with Bite, then follow up with Assurance to REALLY trash it if survives her first Attack, and finally Pursuit if it somehow remains conscious for the 3rd Action. If it tries to flee, Amethyst will substitute whatever Action she's currently on with Pursuit, and then try to chase after it with Quick Attack if it survives a boosted Pursuit somehow. Ran will still try to lob that Great Ball at D.W. , and when it faints he'll just try to Capture it with a plain old Pokeball instead (Without Statusing it, as he's DEFINATELY interested in making it a true friend/partner of his). Let Ran's radiant gem herald the end of the storm!

Moves:

Bite
Accuracy: DEX (*5) + Fight (3) + Brawl (3) - 2 Actions = 10D6 Dice
Damage: STR (3) + 2 + STAB - Defense (3) = 3D6 Damage
Effect: *Flinch 3*

Assurance
Accuracy: 7D6 Base Dice
Damage: *5D6 Damage
Effect: + 2 Damage Dice if Target is below 1/2 HP....I think.

Pursuit
Accuracy: 5D6 Base Dice
Damage: Same as Bite
Effect: Gains Priority and maybe some added Damage Dice if the Target tries to Flee/Leave the Battle

Anderind: (4) + 7 = 11
Golduck: (4) + 6* = 10
Core: (4) + 6* = 10
Aya: (1) + 6* = 7

Oi, that sly grin that Kee's hiding beneath his smile when Dave so eagerly shakes his hand doesn't mean anything good; he's confident in his skills, his dear Pokemon companions, and in his opponent being prone to making mistakes by being so hyped to show off his super-cool new catch.

He does recognize that snowy bear-boarder-creature as an Anderind due having lived in Tandor for some years, but the sight of an exemplar AROUND HERE certainly does the trick of catching his attention. It receives a curious and lightly fascinated glance but Kee's keeping himself calm and reserved, not going to become influenced by Dave's eager and hype about it. "What you've caught there.... is a Pokemon from Tandor, one living around a specific area of that region even. A nice and rare encounter and catch indeed!~ But if you're calling this creature 'sweet' and 'cute', your taste's bullshit."

Aya isn't impressed at all, she's giving Anderind a huff and looks away as she's feeling this bear's stealing the show. Stealing HER show, hmpppfff!! Core's mostly unaffected too, looking like he's going to doze off any minute per usual. That deep snow and Dave's hype's giving them a hard time as well, but Kee's still in good spirits. "Very well then... " Taking a deep breath was a bad idea as the air's very chilly, "Stay calm and attentive you two, and it'll pay off. Don't attack right away, prepare to strike instead: You by summoning some pretty mist, Aya; and you via giving that duck a taste of your vibes, Core. THEN drain the duck's cheer and keep your psychic powers ready! Aya, SING, SING and PERFORM TO YOUR HEART'S DESIRE, get the attention of the crowd back onto you !!" *dramatic gestures to encourage the pretty sealion*

------------------------------------------

Accuracy Roll Aya's Aromatic Mist 1 on Core: 4 Special + 4 Fight + 3 Channel - 2 Actions = 9d6
Effect: Raises Core's Defense and Sp.Defense by 1 each, or in my case +1 Vitality.
Secondary Effect: Covers him in beguilingly and pinkish mist.

Accuracy Roll Core's Metal Sound 1 on Golduck: 4 Smart + 4 Fight + 3 Channel - 2 Actions = 9d6
Effect: -2 Sp.Defense for the non-psychic duck.
Secondary Effect: Moar hardcore vibes! Can't be evaded due to using a Social Attribute in Accuracy.

...THEN those two will strike. At full willpower!!

Accuracy Roll Aya's Sparkling Aria 2 on everything around: 2*Dext + 4 Contest + 3 Perform - 4 Actions = 5d6 +1 spent Will Point to make this Action work
Damage Roll: 4 Special + 3 power of the move + STAB + held Mystic Water = 9d6, Torrent Ability may add more. +1 autodamage due to SE on Andering, -1 autodamage due to NE on Golduck
Additional notes: A soundbased move, due to his Soundproof Ability Core's totally unaffected. ~☆

Accuracy Roll Core's Giga Drain 2 on Golduck: 2*Dext + 4 Fight + 3 Channel - 4 Actions = 5d6 +1 spent Will Point to make this Action work
Damage Roll: 4 Special + 3 power of the move, no STAB = 7d6 +1 autodamage due to SE on Golduck
Additional notes: Half of the damage dealt is restored, min. 1HP.

His 3rd Actions depends on the scenario until now.

Furthermore, as agreed if Aya or Core suffer from a Status Ailment, it'll be cured instantly with the respective Berry or manmade Medicine.
Does it start to hail due to Anderind's Ability? If not and his Ability is Rivalry, Aya's female and Core's male.
