It's fine though! It's an interesting angle for Seddi's part of the story (one that I was kind of expecting to come up eventually, given various background choices. Just not this quickly...), and you can always slow the background elements down for arbitrary reasons if things are getting too hairy too quickly. This is a story about trouble in Sutalör specifically after all. International intrigue doesn't have to be a primary focus even if it is integral to the lore of the world at large. Unless of course the trouble is the international intrigue (but talking about whether it is would be spoilers!).
I'd be fine with a general outline of things we should avoid doing. Would give me a little more peace of mind when posting in potentially high stress political situations. If it's spoilerific though, I dunno. Depends on the kind of possible spoilers it'd contain I guess.
*Shrugs* You
had alternatives, and you knew of my propensity for making Powerful Psychics capable of A) Communication and B) Warping the Plot around them to a degree. Leaves is a gem, though, and I'm not going to let POLITICS ruin her so help me!!
True - problem is I can't exactly do that right
now since Seddi is now caught in a multi-threaded web that is primed and ready to turn into A Mess ® if either I, you, or the Dice screw up somewhere important. I'd
like to brush it over, but when it's a legit roadblock that has multiple wide reaching outcomes....
....Now that I think about it, I should PM you that Politics! Breakdown and get your and Phantom's take on it first, since you two are the most vulnerable to getting embroiled in them. For a few broad sweeping generalizations to tide you over while I get everyone else updated...
- Careful with who and how you associate with certain Political Entities - as a Representative of Paldea your actions can reflect back on your Region and Attract all sorts of attention and hi-jinks your way. Scimitars are a sensitive matter for your PC's region (though he is still free to work and make friend with them) , Enigma is a no brainer, etc.. More covert , infrequent, casual and trusted, contract/documented , etc. you can make any Interactions or Deals with them, the better. When in doubt, act Professionally and keep minutes / notes of what is discussed so that your PC can have ammo/fix it material if a convo causes a spiral.
- In situations where you're about to tackle a Super Critical Matter that is way over your head kinds of Dangerous/Important and/or you have an 'undue' amount of power over things that could lead to big fuck ups, you should ask yourself if talking with your Contact in Paldea about the matter viable or if it is better to go the 'better to ask for forgiveness' route. 'Cause if they shut you down then that is
that unless you're willing to have your PC use proxies to get jobs done or be outright insubordinate and suffer all the consequences thereof.
- If you are already in a jam politically or someone has a hook over your PC, always assume the worst case scenario and build your plans around that while running damage control. If you're wrong things are either better than they seem or have somehow gotten more terrible- you're somewhat prepared regardless. Assume your first plans will in some way be flawed and have contingencies in place - the more the better.
- Iron Leaves. Use them in public with great care. 'Nuff Said. Same goes for Zephy for Bernhard - Mythics and Legends have particular cult like status and awe in Sutalor, even compared to Cheshire!
- If you want to play it absolutely safe, always request your involvement in Political Matters is struck from the public record and that you prefer to remain Anonymous. Kinda tanks how much and how far policital clout can go, but at the same time it also minimize creating waves and getting yelled at/strung up with red tape by your own League.
For now, that should be it. Now on to the next posts!
