Have been blind to all of it so far due to wanting to be surprised for maximum walkthrough enjoyment (gaming laptop not a great device to test if it can run ER or not, especially with the launch jank), but I always appreciate hearing how anyone is vibing with their games, books, or media!
I've bought it, but have not started it yet because I've been playing through Monster Hunter Stories again for the past week! And with Luigi's Mansion 2 HD coming out this next week as well and my ongoing excursions to Helldivers 2, I'm not sure if I'm going to be getting to Shadow of the Erdtree soon. It's high on the list though!

@ PhantomUnderYourDesk - Oh, and yes, your 1st and 2nd Encounters are Special Strange, as they are a continuation of the previous Encounters!

Would Darren be able to catch the MM (something I'm considering OOC) or is it too PD'd for that to be sucessful?
He'd be more inclined to a Slither Wing or Iron Moth, though.

I'm having fun imaging everyone else in the group hanging out at the cafe, not noticing the Espeon drinking tea in the corner.
Of course, Sylvia still has the option to leave the Cafe before everyone else gets there at encounter 3.
Sylvia would also be walking past the police and fire department at the (at the time) active crime scene. Hmmm...

Bernhard has seen enough of strange and weird things in his roughly fourty-seven years of walking on the planet and during his extensive travels through regions, so an Espeon all calmly sipping tea does not trigger more than a look of 'Huh, what a pretty Espeon over there' ☆~(◕‿◕) Least he'd join, and share a pleasant teatime with the Eeveelution! (imagining this made me laugh)

Simple Answer - Yes, but no.
Long Answer - Even if you did Capture it, who's to say it would Stay Captured? Or what it'd do to you for such impudence?
For now, I'm maintaining that Darren, after hesitating too long, decided to not do a thing. If you want to retcon it, so be it, since I acted a bit hastily, but to be fair I did so more for your PC's sake than not. Be warned that Running away is the most unambigiously 'positive' outcome for your PC - staying to fight....Unknown.

Oh boy, Darren has a bug that can learn Final Gambit now. We're gonna be making a boss killer out of him yet!

Going by Gen 9 Movesets for the spooky insect, it already has a version of Final Gambit as a Lv 1 Move - Grudge. AKA - All Your Will Be Gone, Now Faint With HP or be Crippled Horribly! Final Gambit is there for a more 'drastic' way of ensuring a Mon doesn't get to Fight for very long.

It'd be more apt to say it's a Gen 8+ moveset, as GF seems to be standardizing the level up movesets across generations (since dexit means not every Mon is available every gen).
Shedinja also does not exist in Scarlet and Violet for *very* good reason. We don't have to theorize about how broken a Shedinja that can change its type would be though! Air Balloon Tera Electric Shedinja behind a Shed Tail passed Substitute was enough to get the bug banned from Gen 9 Natdex OU!
On the topic of this game: oh boy! Grudge!!! That's going to be fun to see.
