I like that 'mirror'-aspect! A few additional Points that come to mind:

--You know nothing about Bern's past and former life aside from very few minor hints here and there (･ω<)☆ And good luck trying to get anything out of him! If you did, you'd know why he is so logical and stoic and everything. He CAN be very emotional of you press the right (or wrong) Buttons though.

-- He and Oz DO have one thing in Common, but the outcome/result is VERY different. While Oz and yes irl-me too are still haunted by their trauma-demons, Bern pressed on, made the best out of it over the years, decades even. Literally what doesn't kill you, either gives you trauma or makes you stronger. Literally the ideal what I do strive for myself, let the past be the past and learn from it.

-- How either treat their Pokemon kinda represents their Fraction, Moderate in Bern's case and Radical in Oz's case.

Me too! It's a really neat concept that I like quite a lot. The mirror aspect it's a element of narrative I enjoy quite a lot. Characters who are similar in certain things but go in straight in opposite directions. It's more than just Good and Evil (although this could be the case but more) and more in complexity of characterization.

This video explain a bit more in depth about those concepts, although its focus in the "Rival" characters for players on DND, I think it also works for analysis of characters in general:



- 1: I am extremely curios to see more of Bernard past indeed. How and why he is the way it is. The battle against the super boss kinda show a vulnerable side of him I did not expect, and how he doesn't handle the things of bravery with Oz and Seddi words (which is something I think he and Oz kinda have in common, since she also doesn't handle compliments like that).

- Yeah...Like I said a few times here in this thread, Oz is the one who I put the most of my own Soul into her creation. Sometimes I am haunted by shame and regret from things I wished I changed in the past, differents paths I wished I could taken, but refused to do it. And I already said that too, but Oz is also a homage to Shiva, with both of them be similar in many aspects to Shiva, specially with the connection to mysticism. I wish Oz and Shiva would be each other someday, would be cool them have a talk to each other and maybe be cool friends. But we already know Shiva choice and they would problably not see each other (although a man can dream).

- Indeed. But by the end of the day, they both cared about their Pokemon partners. It's really awesome to see two characters who belong to same group of Scimitars and see different mindsets of both. Just like you mentioned in the message, I am curious to see both of them have some kind of interactions about magic and mystic stuff since they both are Scimitars.

Two things I remembered today during a lame work-related meeting, because my mind likes to wander over the hills and fsr away when unoccupied:

It flatters me to no end that dear Oz is also a hommage to Shiva (^///^ ) She still lives rentfree in my brain. About her...let's call it 'choice' and 'probably not see each other' in this AU: Anything's possible in a Windos Campaign, I think! We'll see where Fate and Fortune will lead us.

You are very free to approach Bern with questions or basically anything related to magic and mystic. Just DON'T let him find out you are a Scimitar/Ex-Scimitar, he'd choke on his tea and see you as a severe heretic plus a lowkey insane Radical that he wants as much distance from as possible. (^_^; )

Thank you! I feel happy in see you enjoying this little hommage. I feel honored by this!  And I also agreed. Anything can indeed happen in this campaigh, and the possibilities are endless! I also extremely curious to what we go from here.

No problem. Oz is very aware how dangerous it is for her to reveal her true identity to a Scimitar, and this path could lead to big disaster so thats why she not gonna reveal her identity to Bernard. She will make questions however about magic and mystic however, that's a certainty pretty much. Although I think if Oz reveal her powers in front of Bernard, she will problably say her powers appear during the fusion accident with Hecate and during the battle against Sand-Goth. I think in canon of the campaigh (and I believe in Skull Ruins too) that humans can gain Earthpower abilities within certain circumstances. The captain is a example since she doesn't looks like a Scimitar to me since she doesn't look to have a gauntlet or similar item with her at the time when she turn her skin to steel during Oz battle. Unless she is a Scimitar who uses spells in other form or shape using a different kind of Spell Focus I didn't notice.  Or maybe she is just good to use spells without a spell focus. Oz was able to that twice without a Gauntlet, although it cause a strong and dangerous side effect on Oz body.


Maybe the rage was the side effect on the captain. Or she had a different kind of side effect I did not notice.

There also the possibility in she be Pokemon/Hybrid. I know it was canon in Celadon City since there was a few who appear there, but I don't know if is canon here since alternative universe thing, so a lot of events could have been changed, so I most likely to believe the captain is either a human who somehow get access to Earthpower abilities, or a Scimitar or Ex-Scimitar like Oz.

And then there the Donphan in the room: Heart. He was able to summon the flames after touching the power of a flame tablet if my memory serves right, and was able to summon his flames easier using Moltres Egg. And then as power passes he learn more and more about Earthpower to the point of easier use the power of other Pokemon and restore forests with the help of many other Pokemon. 

Can't help but feel extremely curious in see how much Heart change. I know a lot of events here are very different, and there the possibility of Heart never get access to Earthpower, but I do remember he has a lot of a variety of Pokemon in his side, so he has a vast arsenal. Speaking of which @Lord Windos gonna send you something right away something curious.

I'm on the hype as well, Silksong real; I repeat, SILKSONG REAL!! (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

Now the bittersweet part is that I don't have proper time to play it now, too busy with other things I have to or want to do (errands + juggling multiple videogames at once doesn't work well for me, especially metroidvania-ones), so it has to wait until the next steam-sale unfortunately.

Uh....hello everyone! Time sure gets away from us when you're busy, eh?

Ugh.....frankly, I've been overworked lately on my job for these past few weeks, and between that, stress from my own family life, and less than successful job hunts I've been too tired and burnt out to do any sort of RPing. The fact I got my internet back right WHEN I got swamped is an dramatic irony I will not yet forgive, universe *Tiredly and grumply shakes fist....*

I have the next couple of days off AT LAST, and once I get some rest I'll try to get things going a little bit. Not sure if the writing will be 100% up to snuff, but I'll try my best regardless. On the bright side once this Battle is over....well, it'll be smoother sailing to running the campaign no matter how things shake down in the aftermath (even if I have to wrangle it to be so)!

That aside, I hope you've all been well so far in your lives! I'm also happy Silksong came out, but I'm going to wait until it goes on discount, as I have an extensive backlong of other games and books I want to finish before I get any MORE media to enjoy. That, and I rather be sucked down another rabbit hole when I should be getting my own creative works and IRL prospects running....

Thats okay mate. I know how much life can be paintful difficult. The last three weeks has been only battle after battle and problem to take care of (inside home with family, problematic player, a lot of things).

Hopefully things finally get better on my side after a long time, and last session of my table finally was smooth.

Indeed! Its a amazing time to be a Hollow Knight fan! I even buy the original HK for a friend of mine and my sister. They need to be prepare to face Silksong before anything.
