[Meta Thread] Lord Windos' PokeRole Adventure 2: The Wild Lands
Lovely small article and a great find! I like how it mentions:

- how Oripoke managed to grow as an artist and creator after Uranium got the banhammer (there's definitely some great development of her pixelart if comparing those in Uranium and some of her newer ones in Flux! Such lively and dynamic sprite animations!!)

- Wondertrade Extravaganza! A great concept that the community indeed took over when Cody and Co. couldn't handle it anymore (there are still boxes full of Wondertrade Event Pokemon on my save)

- people finding their partners in the community! I don't think I have to say more than 'ship happened' <3

- one set of fans having created a DnD-group with uranium as a backdrop. Not too sure if it's really us who are meant by that, but it does sound lovely what fans all over the world are dedicated to create and build up together.

I don't think I would have met you amazing people if I wouldn't have stumbled over a post on tumblr that announced 'Pokemon Uranium 1.0 being live', so feel ghost-hugged across the screen.

Just a thought: I'm like SO glad to be around like-minded people and people I hold dear here (here = this forum). Been sorta low on spoons today and work was extra cumbersome and I was extra-annoyed by a few other co-workers, talking so much constantly and being happy-go-lucky when I'm more quiet, introverted and sorta cynical. So, thanks, hugs and cookies go out to everyone~

Current brainrot is drawing an OC of mine and putting them in cringe (meant in a positive manner, I myself am very cringe but free) outfits, watching gameplay streams (nothing in particular, just whatever favorite Vtubers of mine play) and beta-testing new Uranium stuff. Big thankies to Iron for reaching out to me, I'm very honoured being allowed and trusted to do that jkdsjdsjdlskjfdljflk

First of all, forgive me for taking so long to answer. I was very much busy and I felt tired to due to College and few other things happening in life.

Thanks Phantom. I feel that too more than you can imagined. Responsability has been taking a toll on my mind too, but I glad I have so good friends here and other places too. I feel loved and blessed to have people important in my life.

That looks very good to hear! I would like to see that OC of yours someday, since I tipping toes on the art realm too more and more. I taking extra lessons in art and learn a bit more about human anathomy. Been watching a few streams too, and also playing some Monster Hunter World too with Dragonstrike. He has been a VERY patience mentor to me, and I very thankful to him. I also been playing a Unhealth ammount of Cult of the Lamb. Finish beating all the 4 bishops on a separate save, and trying to learn MORE and MORE of the game mechanics. When we return to the game Phantom, I will be a bit more experience than before, and not be burden to you like I was before. I much experience than I was before.

Speaking of experience and stronger than before...@Dragonstrike, would like to share what you also been doing these last days my good lad? To show everyone we both ALIVE and WELL too.

Edit: ALSO! I did forget to mentioned I been reading quite a lot another system too! Fabula Ultima! A Italian system, inspired by JRPG's. Its a Tabletop JRPG (Or TJRPG) and learning the system has been a blast. Its a generic system quite easily to learn. Its been a long while I been planning to make a campaigh inspired by Monster Hunter, and Fabula Ultima looks like the perfect system to try out. Maybe its even easier to learn than Pathfinder 2e, and we could try to play with someday. My invitation is extend to you other as well, @Lord Windos, @Iron, @Redstone. Dragon is also invited to test it as well. Either voice call or via text, I very curious to try it someday.

Lol you don't have to justify yourself for responding late, Spirit. Things happen and I get the 'being busy'-part; I'm happy for a response whenever!

Very cool, to hear you're taking extra lessons in art! Learning human anatomy is hard and (perhaps) boring, but can confirm that once you get it, your own art improves SO MUCH more, regardless whether you end up drawing actually humans or furry art or something different. Feel free to share your art with me at some point in some way, I'd enjoy to see!~ Very cool x2 that you've now beating CotL, best game. Would enjoy to play co-oop with you again at some point when I have more free time/as a change of pace in between my regular activities.

I've did a bit of reading up on Fabula Ultima after you mentioned. Found mixed reviews; some love it, some hate it. I like that it appearantly has the vibe of JRPGs (loving these!), but am sorta sceptical about how this is executed - like, I'm not too sure whether actively contributing to the whole worldbuilding as a player (as Fabula Ultima appearantly does expect) is something for me when I enjoy interacting and exploring the world provided by the GM/DM more. Would have to give it a try at first to come to an informed opinion. Though I'd honestly prefer if we'd continue any of the two ongoing campaigns on this forum before starting anything new that also involves a completely new system, otherwise I know I'd probably get overwhelmed (^v^; ) Please don't be like me who starts several videogames, books, drawing and crafting project nearly at once because inspiration strikes and barely ever properly finishes anything.

Building up a world inspired by Monster Hunter, when I remember you love to create new monsters and bosses, sounds like right up your ally indeed!

Spirit's been showing me some of the stuff from the Fabula Ultima books he's been getting, and I think the system looks interesting enough.  Being able to influence the world building as a player in the middle of a game is also interesting because the book has a counterbalance that lets the villains do the same thing with a similar resource.

Lore and flavor wise, there's a lot of material in Fabula Ultima that fits in very well with the vibes of a Monster Hunter inspired setting, so participating in a tabletop game that's inspired by one of my favorite video game franchises of all time is something that I am 100% down for.  Especially after I've helped Spirit with the creation and refinement of a few monsters for some other games recently as well.  Definitely gives me a lot to look forward to since I've seen how Spirit creates creatures firsthand.  Maybe it'll give me some ideas for my own creations in Primal Shadows later down the line too.

As for what I've been up to recently, it's not been anything too crazy.  A lot of my usual gaming and work stuff that's been occupying most of my time.  Been having to help my grandma with errands lately since my mom is out of state helping my sister take care of my niece.

Oh yeah, have I mentioned that here yet?  I have a niece now.  And another niece on the way in a few months.  So that makes three kids between two of my sisters now.

Indeed! I want to improved my artstyle, and actually make more humanoid forms. Human anatomy will actually help me improved my characters creation since I want to be able to craft my own characters, so it will help quite a lot. And it will be help me to craft more unerving humanoid monsters in future games. Monsters to me are supposed to be challenged to players, and depending of the campaigh, enemies with a body type similar to a human can give one type of feeling a normal monster sometimes doesn't always give: Fear. It depends of the situation and campaigh, but a monster who acts as a humanoid being but are actually monstrous can strike a feeling both to players and characters. Specially if such thing was actually human and then turn into a monstrous abomination. The good ol' art of the "uncanny valley". Dragon himself see some of terrifying creatures and he even help me craft some. And Monster Hunter has been a amazing source of inspiration. Both in terms of desigh and monstrous abilities!

Understanble. I guess not everyone of the community enjoy much of the JRPG things, and maybe a part of it was expecting a more complex or crunch system...But in my opinion since I been reading the books the simplicity of the system if part of the charm. Which I know its a bit weird since I been playing PF2e by years by now, but the honest approach in how friendly the system is open more to RP moments. Although the combat system is quite good actually. I specially like the idea of goals in the battle be acting like "Clocks" in the field and then players and mobs actually affected how this clock works. I still need to read more about the system and play it, and good thing a GM friend of mine decided to GMing a Fabula Ultima campaigh, so it will make easier for me to learn the system as a player.

I can understand the feeling. Not all players are that much interested to build a world with the GM, and actually prefer to discovered that world by the GM hands alone. The way I see is like a old pirate person said and I think it's quite fitting on that: "The code is more of a guideline than a strict rule." I like how they put in the GM book that rule, but I see more as a suggestion like: "The rule is like this, but only if you want and how your players want." And I don't think is necessary to the Players actually create the entired WORLD of the campaigh, if they want they can just contribute to their home places of where they characters came from, how they lived, and how they get here...Which in my opinion is not that much different than PC and GM already DO in most campaighs. But then again, understand your reasoning. When I start GMing I will ask my players the creation of the world itself, but I will keep a lot of secrets under my own belt to be revealed in key moments. After all, part of the magic is the DISCOVERY and I think is what make the story more spicy and interesting. But I will also ask what kind of sensitive topics my players want me to avoid in the campaigh, and I will try my best to avoid them, but maybe there gonna be moments those same topics could be mentioned but I will give a headsup before such thing does happen.

And don't worry about it. I not overwhelm me in so many things. I GMing no campaigh at the moment, so I have a good bunch of time to master the system and learn of it. It will take a while until I can fully understand the system, and see in what ways I can actually improved the system more. I also want to learn more about the monster crafting of the game. The game will be inspired by Monster Hunter, but I want to give my own personal flavor and see a group of players fight against ONE single monster. Yes, the migh be times where the players might face more than one monster, but thats the general path I want to go. And as you mentioned, I a big LOVER of monster and the process of monster creation, so trying a system inspired by JRPG's will be such a pleasant experience.

But don't worry. There gonna be other things to do. The game itself opens up to other things like moments of story building between the characters players, bonds between them and npcs, and even moments of where the players can sit on a bonefire and share stories and other things (yes, there a subsystem about this in one of the books who I found very much interesting and for sure gonna put in the game).

Also indeed. As Dragon mentioned, the system is quite good in terms of balance the way PC and certain mobs can change the world and narrative using certain resources...I can tell that in details in a separate post or even another thread explaining a bit more in deep about that to make the discussion a bit easier to digest, since I do have the feeling this post of mine is ALREADY ginormous enough as it is right now.

Yeah. Thats also something that attract me in FU. The system said by itself the many types of inspirations in the game, and even most of its philosophies in deph who get inspired by other games. Monster Hunt is one example but also others such as Bravely Default, Chrono trigger, Final Fantasy and oh so many others. Even animes also inspired this little system. And as someone who read in deep some of these books, I can see the feel the love behind them. And yes, Dragonstrike has been a amazing and patience mentor in my travel though out the Monster Hunter franchise. We finished Rise and its DLC Sunbreak, and we are now conquering the harsh and cruel lands of Monster Hunter World, so I actually pretty excited when this game be fine and tuned. And as he mentioned he's been of great help in create, tuning and refining my monsters to some of my games, so if there is one person in my entire circle of friends who understand my mad scientist process of monster creation is that amazing draconic friend, Windos be a very close second too. I still ask that you been patience with me Dragon my good fella, since I still want to master the monster forge skill in this system. Pf2e does help me train in that system, but this one is more simple but it will required some mastery on my part. I don't want to be a disapoiting. Also...I feel actually flattered that you mentioned I maybe has been giving some ideas for your own creations in Primal Shadows. I feel extremely honored old friend.

I don't know if I said yet, but in case I not: Congrats in your niece buddy! And the other niece that will come on a few months!

And for the people for read this ENORMOUS post: Thank you for reading, and actually sorry for the size of this post. It's been SO long I post anything here, and I get excited to share some of the news and experiences I been having that few words would be impossible to describe most of them. Still not fully. And I agree with you Phantom my great friend: The project still need refining, and maybe it will be good to wait until things been said and done here in the campaighs. And want to actually see if people wants to play the campaigh either as Post by post as we do here, do voice calls for better immersion, or maybe a mix of BOTH. Been working with Dragonstrike with my voice conversation with him. Still need to work on them but I guess it will be good.

Anyway, a good and awesome day to everyone! And Phantom friend, don't sweat. Cult of the Lamb coop will be waiting for you!

And Dragonstrike! Our journey though out World will come out again, I just a little busy at the moment, but we will continue our journey soon!

CIAO!

So people…How you doing? Came to inform a few things: First, I planning my next One Shot of Fabula Ultima with some people I meet in my college. I show them the system to one of the players, he show to his friends, and I gonna GM for them. Not gonna lie, I am pretty nervous since it has been a long time since I GM, but I also excited in GM once more. And I also gonna watch The Amazing Digital Circus, the Last Act. And I excited to watch the movie and see how this story ends from here.

Wish me luck people! See ya!

I will! Don't worry. Its more like a session zero about the creation of the world itself. Since FU is about the creation of the world itself together between players and GM its gonna quite the experience. Gonna tell here how things go.

And yeah, I did notice a big increase on that ones. Amazing work out there Phantom. You awesome in purge those bots and keep this forums clean. You are a super hero Phantom, and I gladly we have you here Big Grin

...Session...was...AWESOME! WOOW! Man, I never felt so incredible awesome in such moments. We discuss a lot of ideas of the world building and gave quite a lot to explored. Still gonna be focused on a medieval style, but instead of classic medieval, it will be focus on focused on a story style like the old sea navigations. Like piracy and discoveries of new lands. It still be focused on medieval elements, but this kind of scenario will give me inspiration to have gunpowder creation, so it will be a very interesting scenario still with swords and guns, and still gonna have magic too. This also give a LOT of excellent ideas, specially that one we discussed about "that" monster we been discussing mate. Each player will be responsible to create its origin region too. So it will be extremely INTERESTING to explored. And we even discussed a LOT of threats to explored in the campaigh.

If anyone is interested I could provide a description of the world itself me and my players craft together.
