You're right on the money for the most part, but power items are not necessary, strictly speaking. They just make it easier to get specific IV's on a target pokemon. Its important to remember the everstone as well, as it passes on the nature of its wearer to the offspring.

Ugh... I just remembered the kicker: breeding with egg moves. After getting about 4-5 eggs, all the egg moves my breeding pkmn have get overridden while in daycare. Either I have to SR if I don't get the results I want (which actually saves on box space), or I have to constantly replace my breeding pkmn with those that received the egg move.
