Dark types, obviously.  Bug, Fighting, and Fairy type moves are your friends, depending on the exact matchups.

Howl also has a preference for canines in particular.  As evidenced by Nathan's battle, though, he has a few wild cards to pick from for particularly difficult battles.

3v3, battle til faint, no trainer items.
