Thats actually a good question. Its kinda...a both of Delta Riolu instict, and a strong desire to become stronger. In human life, Kogeki wanted to be more stronger to not lost anything anymore, like he lost Shimo. Even without remembering who she was, and much of his previous life, the desire to become stronger still exist. And the instict of absorb Aura...Well thats something who exist within Delta Riolu Pokedex:

Pokedex Entry
Delta Riolu, the Withdrawl Pokemon.  Where Sinnohese Riolu are known for emanating a powerful aura that they have little control over and alerts everyone around them of their presence, Delta Riolu are known for having the exact opposite effect on their surroundings.  They are able to sense auras much like their Fighting type counterparts, but their bodies have a tendency to absorb portions of other creatures' auras instead of emanating their own aura themselves, and they're able to anticipate if the owner of the aura might be dangerous because of it.

It has been reported that creatures that remain in a Delta Riolu's presence for too long will eventually feel spine chills and get the feeling that something is watching them from the shadows behind them.  And when they turn around, the glowing blue eyes of Delta Riolu are staring back at them from a shadowy corner as the pokemon slowly (and unwillingly) absorbs the creature's aura...

Some Delta Riolu purposely distance themselves from all other living creatures, not wishing to harm anyone accidentally.  Others embrace their powers and prey on the auras of unsuspecting individuals frequently.  How and if this affects their evolution is unknown.
Kogeki currently ability to active in battles: Anticipation.
