It's coming up because reacting to immense Pain is a rather natural and hard to avoid instinctual thing. Ignoring the pain of a broken arm is immensely difficult to do for long periods of time, particularly when said arm is being messed with/waved around.
I'm handwaving it a little and rolling dice to settle the conflict since the situation isn't exactly completely realistic (pokemon are sturdier creatures than a normal person would think), but there's definitely still an element of realism to be considered since Lethal damage is a thing in the first place. Someone with a broken arm would normally be unable to use it to push themselves upright, after all, both because of the immense pain and the limpness of said busted appendage. I'll allow checks like those for Pyra, given her character, but expect them to be more difficult the more pain her body would realistically be experiencing.
I was going to have Pyra pass out upon returning to town because of the strain on her body caused by the broken arm being untreated and ignoring the pain outright through sheer willpower, but splinting the arm successfully will waive that occurrence.
Alright, that's a fair and reasonable assessment of things, so thank you for sharing it with me. I just wanted to make it clear that mentally Pyra/Human Pyra doesn't even register pain/Pain as a problem or something to pay attention to, even thought her body/Pokemon Pyra very much does and will try to make it know to her (and possibly others, if they're paying attention when those reactions happen). That way if Pokemon self ends up winning in the future everyone OOC knows she isn't just faking/actively forcing her ignorance/non issue with Pain, and IC such reaction are atypical and involuntary on her part.
As such, my interp. of the Will Score in regards to Pain Rolls is that it (her Will) acts as a sort of passive 'Ignorance Roadblock' for her Pokemon Instincts. If her Pokemon self can't get past it, she continues to be unaffected by them, but if her Pokemon self does it can 'voice' itself and take her off guard (surprising and/or annoying her in the process). Essentially, her 'Pain Tolerance' isn't a conscious effort on her part, it just....well, is. I now wonder if a Surprise can be later gotten that basically shuts up her Pokemon self in regards to pain/Pain/unpleasent sensations (though not stopping any actual negative consequences of it mechanically/storywise), as not having them constantly trying to but in and take her/the rest of the group off guard would be nice character-wise.
Though mentioning that alt scenario, I'm kinda disappointed it didn't end up happening, as it would've been fun for me for her to pass out without any warning and have her be all confused as hecky about it later. Ah well, perhaps its for the best, since her friends don't freak out about that and have to lug her back to town or try attempting to wake her up.
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
