Suffice to say about them, though, they're nasty strong and no doubt have their ways of neutralizing the inherent difficulties they'll face in the Great Glacier. Almost all be stated by our choices available, anybody have a preference for one or another? Or something else to be added to the discussion?
Hoping that you managed to rest well and managed through your busy day fine enough, my dear! Hmm, for the one additional NPC to take into the Glacier, I'm strongly leaning into taking Emolga for various reasons:
- Nuzzle for auto-paralysis on a foe as well as Thunder Shock and Static Ability for more chances of paralysing dexterous foes. None of us in the current party has a definite way to inflict a hard status on foes (or not that I know of, remind me if I forgot), but with Emolga on our side we will temporarly.
- Potentially Light Screen to protect us from the mostly special Ice Type moves.
- I bet there'll also be pure Water Types as well as Water/Ice Types in that Great Glacier, which Emolga can hit for super effective damage via STAB-Electric.
- They're able to fly and glide, useful alongside Platina if we need to reach something located high above the ground or similar.
Besides, Kee's for now mostly observing and listening in now that it's official we're going to visit that glacier he has a bad feeling and foreshadowing about - partly because he doesn't have anything important to add to the current conversations and scenes and partly because I'm somewhat exhausted from errands yesterday and working overhours today. No need to wait for a post of mine, but I do wish to get a chance to rearrange some items of mine before we'll go dungeon-crawling, if possible!
I did indeed, so you're well wishing has come true! My thanks! *Gives them a Hug!*
Welp, I don't have any strong preferences for a partner, but as I mentioned before I hadn't quite finished my brief analysis of all the NPC choices. Let me do so now!
- Hydregion is not great in an Icy environment, but they're fricking strong as heck and large enough to potentially carry our non-Flying Party members across difficult terrain, among brute forcing other things as needed. It's got an immense Level 1 Move selection, which include the Status Inducing Tri-Attack, dual stabs in the Flinching Bite and Paralyzing Dragon's Breath, Roar and Scary Face to potentially scare away mobs or disrupt enemy formations, and nukes in Hyper Voice, Outrage, and Hyper Beam to total most everything.
- Melly is a Mythic that has supreme flexibility in the form of....well, their Forms, and they're the only one that has access to Sleep in the form of Relic Song and Sing. They also have Priority in Quick Attack, Teeter Dance for AoE Confusion (Which Platina dodges due to her Persim Scarf), and nuke Moves in Perish Song and STAB Hyper Voice. Doesn't hurt that they doesn't have any blatant Weaknesses that opponents in the Great Glacier could wield against them (Unless Dark and Flying types also hang out there), and doesn't compound anymore of the party's pre-existing Weaknesses.
Honesty, Virizion is perhaps the best all-rounder choice, but Emolga is powerful just because Nuzzle is so good and it has other nasty debuffs to pair with it, and Hydreigon is great because they can help the group better bypass Dungeon Hazards by giving our PCs rides or carrying them instead while also a plethora of useful Lv. 1 Moves that dodges the Action Bottleneck that is one of the main restraints in the 'One Use Action Per Round' Economy present in this campaign. I can't really decide between the three, so I'll wait and see what @Spiritmon has to say on this topic before I make any final decisions.
Like the wind, I come and go as I please... but I am always there to provide a comforting breeze.
