Heh, better read before comment. When I saw your poll (and have not read 4th chapter yet), I wanted write something like (maybe in capitals) "Add a posibility 'No one more will die' to your poll! I will not call bad luck to you, guessing who will die next  ".

Why you will catch tommorow a new friend (before beating a gym)?
I mean, why will you not catch two new friends?

About party, it depends on situation (hunting/beating gym).
I think Kangust would not be good against the third gym leader (I have not seen her pokemons in wiki, I base it only on her theme).
For hunting, I don't know.

Actually,i catch more than 2 friends, because I had to record 2 chapters in the absence of uploading a chapter yesterday XD
I already knew about the nuclear plant, but I did not want to say XD
