[Game Thread] Pokerole: Mount Coronet Mystery
Byron's skeptical of the midget's plan.  "Sending out a pokemon in the middle of the fighting something this tough would be madness!  They'd be slaughtered!"

Lucas, however, is able to take advantage of the opportunity regardless since Randolph isn't summoning another pokemon.  Sally enters the battlefield!  "Less complaining, Byron, more fighting!"

...and then the Lucario gasps and gazes angrily at the Steelix with righteous fury!  If that Shadow Pokemon thinks they're going to get away with this, they have another thing coming!!

Diamond Steelix Round 3 Initiatives
Aggron: 9
Paula: 13
Turk: 13
Monferno: (5) + 9 = 14
Sally: (4) + 10 = 14
Heracross: (6) + 9 = 15

D-Steelix: 18*

Astoria shrugs.  She appreciates the thought, but she has no idea what she would even ask for.

Karen's definitely fine with Kee taking the skins, but not so sure about the Dragon Scale.
"I think we should examine it carefully before doing anything with it.  Just a feeling I have."

That being said, Karen works on catching the Dragonair while Kee tries to fish up the shiny objects.

*rolls*

Gotcha!  Dragonair was caught!

Try as Kee might, the fishing rod's hook doesn't seem to be able to attach to the objects at the bottom of the small lake.  Milotic mentally chuckles.  Ahahaha.  You could ask me to fetch them, you know.  It doesn't look like they'll be particularly difficult to retrieve now that the Dragons have been dealt with.

Meanwhile, Karen's started examining the Dragon Scale, and Scizor's found a rock to sit on and is nibbling on another berry and an apple.  Rui's timidly hanging back with Scizor and Espeon, watching.

Oh well then... Kee keeps on carefully petting and patting his trickster-like Ex-Shadow Absol, smiling a bit weakly about she not even knowing what she'd wish for to make up to her. "No idea for now? Well, ya don't have to come up with one rght away. But IF somethin' springs yar mind, do lemme know, alright? I'll ponder over things mahself In tha meantime, bet we'll find somethin' neat, won't we?~ Letsa just try to get along further 'n have a good time. Care for a few snacks during our break here?" He lets her eat a handful of dried berries and veggies to reenergize before the group moves on, they kinda deserve a small breather after this battle. That, and this underground lake's quite pretty!

Yay for having obtained the shed skins of the defeated dragons!~ (How many are ther mechanically? If I saw that correctly, 1 from Shadow Dragonair and 2 from Dratini, right? Does Kee or Octavia notice anything strange/odd/special when obtaining them or are those more like ordinary shed skins?) When Milotic's giving herself amused over Kee not having asked HER to get them outta the lake for him, he likewise chuckles and makes a 'No big deal' handgesture. "Well yes, I COULD 'ave asked ya. But... Letsa say I didn't want to bother you with it, hm?~~" (^v^ ;)

Karen receives an appreciating look and some congrats for having successfully captured this Dragonair from both Kee and his faeeveelution. He also eventually agrees on examinating the curious scale it's been carrying around. "It's wouldn't hurt, that's for sure... And I kinda trust yar feeling. Now though, one thing I'm kinda curious 'bout is how a fellow dragon would react to this scale - ya're fine if I quick-summon that Drampa of mine 'nd ask for their insight on it?" If she is, Kee does so in an instant, greeting Orpheus with a gentle cuddle and showing this Dragon Scale* to him and explaining where it comes from, then asks for his opinion on it.

Sumiltaneously with that, Rui and Espeon are waved over by at first Octavia and then by Kee, both give them a calm and welcoming look and offer a cup of hot tea.
"The coast's clear, no further wild dragons 'round to harm us!~ Come over if ya like, I for sure won't do anythin' to ya... Lets enjoy a small breather here at this lake b'fore moving on, shall we? C'mon, we d'served that."

There's two shed skins.  One Dragonair sized, one Dratini sized.  They don't seem to be particularly special in any way, but they're likely rather valuable both as valuable items and crafting materials due to being literal dragon skin.

Well, I was talking about the items at the bottom of the lake.  From what I can tell, they look to be rather...smooth.  And rectangular.  It'll be rather difficult to hook them with a fishing pole.  It wouldn't be any trouble for me to get them for you.

Karen lets Drampa look at the scale, and he's curious simply because it's...well, a Dragon Scale.  Beyond that, though, he doesn't seem to be particularly interested in it in any way, treating it merely as a normal shed scale.  Not much out of the ordinary there for a Dragon.  Karen thinks about what that might mean carefully.  "Hmmmm...do you think that means that Drampa wouldn't benefit much from holding it?"

Rui doesn't say much when called over, just nods and quietly walks over.  She walks over to the edge of the water and sits by it with Espeon.  She absentmindedly pets the purple eeveelution as she quietly looks over the water and thinks about everything that's happened so far...

Diamond Steelix Round 3

Aggron throws more mud at Steelix's eyes!

Mud Slap 1
13 - 2 - 1 = 10
(5)(6)(5)(1)(4)(3)(3)(5)(2)(5) Diamond is indeed brittle if you hit it just right!  Randolph can hear the crunch of crystals as some rocks in the mud cause tiny, invisible to the naked eye fractures in Steelix's dull, glittering hide!  Critical hit!
(3)(2)(4) D-Steelix takes 3 damage! 29/40 HP -1 Pain

Climb 1
Paula spends an entire action scrambling on top of Turk's shell.  While Byron isn't going to risk sending out a pokemon mid-combat, this'll grant her cover from attacks that strike from below Turk.

The ground explodes from underneath Diamond Steelix as Turk summons the power of the land once more!

Earth Power 1
12 - 2 = 10
(5)(3)(2)(3)(5)(3)(5)(3)(5)(1)
(3)(1)(5) D-Steelix takes 3 damage! 26/40 HP -1 Pain

Hazel does as commanded and blasts Steelix with a small ember, but the flame just fizzles and steams on the snake's crystalline hide because of the rain, not doing any harm to the snake at all.

Ember 1
(5)(3)(2)(3)(4)(5)
(-) D-Steelix takes 0 damage due to the Rain!  Fire does not do increased damage against this pokemon, unlike the Coal Onix!
(3)

Lucas gives Sally some simple orders.  "Sally, that thing's hide is so tough that even your most powerful moves won't leave a dent in it!  Take it slow!"

L: (5)(6)(1)(1)(3)
D: (4)(4)

Sally, however, chooses to rush at the Diamond serpent in a righteous rage!!!!  TAKE THIS YOU SERVANT OF INJUSTICE!!!!  YAAAAAA!!!

"Sally!!!"

Close Combat 1

(5)(6)(3)(1)(4) D-Steelix takes 5 damage! 21/40 HP -1 Pain
-1 Def and Sp Def for Sally!

Steelix staggers as Sally's flurry of blows leaves cracks and dents in its armor that no other attack could have.  She'd found a weakpoint somehow, and her attack's left the armored snake wide open for further attacks.

Something that Heracross is readily going to exploit!  Punch after punch after punch rains down on the Steelix in a desperate attempt to do as much damage as possible!

Arm Thrust x4 1
(4)(5)(5)(1)(6)(2)(1)(4)
(6)(2)(3)(4)(2)(5)
(4)(5)(2)(5)
(6)(2) Hit 4 times!

(3) D-Steelix takes 9 damage! 12/40 HP -2 Pain

Steelix staggers again, and it glares at everyone that dares oppose it with an unrivaled, seething hatred.  These tiny, insignificant creatures dare to stand in its way, to stop the total annihilation of this mine and all that is in it?!?!  They shall pay dearly for this transgression!!!

It roars with pure rage, and the floor becomes covered in shadowy spikes!!

Shadow Rave 1
13 - 1 Acc - 2 Pain - 2 Act - 2 Confused = 6

Turk takes 2 damage! 9/12 HP -1 Pain
Sally takes 2 damage! 6/9 HP -1 Pain
Hazel takes 2 damage! 4/7 HP -1 Pain
Heracross takes 2 damage! 5/8 HP -1 Pain

Kogeki throws a Dusk Ball at the Diamond Steelix, hoping to end this fight sooner rather than later!

Dusk Ball
Throw: 9 + 2 = 11
(6)(5)(2)(5)(2)(4)(4)(1)(2)(1)(2)  That hits.

Steelix gets sucked into the pokeball, the button on the pokeball blinks yellow once, twice...

...and then Steelix breaks free of the Dusk Ball (destroying it without a roll) and glares at Kogeki with murderous rage.  How DARE he try to capture them against their will!!!

Hazel suddenly lashes out at her opponent while they're distracted, exploiting that chink in its armor just like Heracross did!

Mach Punch 2
(1)(2)(5)(5)
(5) D-Steelix takes 3 damage! 9/40 HP -2 Pain

Byron calls out to everyone!  "We need to end this, NOW!  Brace yourselves!!!"

Aggron roars, then jumps!  When it lands, it causes a massive tremor far stronger than the one Steelix was able to conjure!

Earthquake 2
13 - 2 - 4 = 7
(4)(2)(5)(3)(4)(2)(5)
5 + 4 + 2 LO - 1/3/4/6/9* = 6/4/3/1 minimum (+2 on Steelix, -1 on Turk and Heracross, +1 on Hazel and Sally)
(6), (5)(5), (1), (3)(3)
Paula takes 0 damage because she's on top of Turk
Hazel takes 4 damage and faints!
Heracross takes 2 damage! 3/8 HP -2 Pain
Turk takes 0 damage.
Sally takes 4 damage! 2/9 HP -2 Pain
Byron takes 3 damage! 7/10 HP -1 Pain
Lucas takes 3 damage! 5/8 HP -1 Pain
Kogeki takes 3 damage! 5/8 HP -1 Pain
Randolph takes 3 damage! 2/6 HP -2 Pain
D-Steelix takes 3 damage! 6/40 HP -2 Pain

Paula gasps when she sees Randolph take such a heavy hit from that EQ, and she begins to sing a song of protection!  Her beautiful voice echoes through the caves as her singing gets louder and louder...and once again, it sounds strangely familiar to Randolph...

Lucky Chant 2
(5)(2)(2)(1)
Paula's side of the field is protected by her song!

Turk steps on D-Steelix's tail again!  That worked before, so it should work again!

Rock Smash 2
12 - 1 - 4 = 7
(4)(6)(4)(5)(2)(1)(3)
(1) D-Steelix takes 2 damage! 4/40 HP -2 Pain

Sally knows an opportunity when she sees one.  It's now or never!  Byron's Earthquake set that Diamond Steelix off balance!  If she can just hit that damn snake really, really hard, she can end this!!!

The Lucario blitzs the Steelix again, intending to end this with one last punch, fueled by her own pain and righteous fury!!!

Reversal 2
12 - 2 - 4 = 6
(4)(6)(5)(6)(3)(6)  Sally's punch hits home, and diamond shards explode outwards where her fist connects with the Steelix's body! Critical hit!!!
6* + 1 + 5 Damaged + STAB - 9* + QE + 2 Crit = 6 + 2
(4)(1)(1)(1)(4)(5) Steelix takes 5 damage, but hangs on with 1 HP due to its Diamond Skin Ability! 1/40 HP -3 Pain

Steelix roars in pain, having been dealt severe damage for the first time in forever!!  It has never, ever been this close to being mortally wounded before!  As it roars, the entire cavern shakes, and its body and the diamond shards and dust scattered around the room all start to glow!  They get brighter and brighter, and shadows begin leaking out of the cracks in its hide into the surrounding room!!

"TAKE COVER!!!"

There's no time to react to Byron's warning, though.  One final attack from the Diamond Steelix rocks the entire room as the air becomes filled with a storm of sharp crystals!!

Diamond Storm 2
13 - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3 Pain = 3
(3)(1)(1) Well then...

However, that final attack ends up being the Steelix's downfall.  Instead of the bright crystals striking its enemies, glowing with an intense contrast of light and shadow, the bright crystals strike Steelix instead, embedding themselves in its own hide!  Cracks spiderweb across its entire body as one of the only materials capable of piercing its own skin penetrates it in countless places.  Shadows leak out of its body in a torrent, and it becomes near impossible to see in the inky blackness as they fill the room from top to bottom.  The only thing everyone can see as the Diamond Steelix is purified is a very, very bright light where the super massive pokemon stands.

Then everything suddenly goes dark as the light goes out and the room begins to tremble, the damage caused to it by the Earthquakes, Fire attacks, and Rain too much for it to bear any longer!

...

------------------------------------------------------------

Randolph and Kogeki wake up with splitting headaches after Arceus knows how long.  They can hear shuffling as someone digs through a bag, and feel that they're laying down on sleeping bags.

Then they hear two voices.

"Well, look at who's finally awake.  Would have been a downright shame if you had been killed or slipped into a coma after such a spectacular showing."

"I was almost convinced you two weren't going to wake up.  Don't scare me like that, guys.  Seriously."

When Randolph and Kogeki sit up, they can see Byron and Lucas sitting on some nearby rocks, looking at both of them.  Odds are they were talking while the other two were unconscious.  Byron's also got one of his legs wrapped up, as if it had been injured.

"You can thank your friend here for getting us out of that jam.  I was afraid the whole mine was gonna collapse on top of us after that final attack, but his quick thinking and good eye seem to have gotten us away from the worst of the cave ins."

"I also did some quick check ups, and I don't think anything's broken, thankfully.  Byron hurt his leg on the way out, but I think that's the worst damage we sustained.  Our pokemon are all fine too.  Gotta ask, though: You guys okay?"

The nightmare was so much intense that he by accident, he awake in fear and punch Lucas in the face with his mechanical arm. He awake his eyes, tremble in fear after his nightmare. He took a few seconds to process what he done, and begin to apologize to Lucas. "My God...Lucas! I sorry! I didnt want to..." Then he remember what happened: The battle. Steelix fall. And the cave falling again. Kogeki sight and then try to offer a hand to Lucas stand up. "Sorry...I have bad memories of falling caves...since last time that happened...well." The bristly blacksmith is not entirely pleased with his best friend's caution and blowing off his plan, but he can't really begrudge them for it. Not when they're up against that glimmering, fiendish snake, who seems to only be getting meaner and tougher as the fight wears on.....

He's less than displeased when Sally ends up succumbing to her INSTINCTS OF GOOD AND RIGHTEOUSNESS, shouting alongside Lucas "Damn it lass, cool that blood of yours before it gets ya killed!!" If he could control himself and focus despite the immense amount of emotional whiplash and distress confront and fighting that damn monster and whatever foul and wicked power Diamond Steelix had, then by all right she certainly could too!

Still, he couldn't argue against the results of such flat out relentless aggression then or later on in the Round, but that won't excuse her for a tongue lashing for her behavior later!

Seeing Diamond Steelix grow more and more enraged at being successfully challenged and beaten down for perhaps the first time in its existence, Randolph can't help but give it a savage grin and a bark of viscous laughter!

"Wreck, rage, and rampage all ya like, ya damn monster, but you're going to be crushed into fine powder all the same! You may be mean and tough, but you're nothing compared to us!"

Getting rocked by Aggroan's Earthquake hurt worse than mashing his hand with a hammer, but at least he was warned about it by Alman so he could steel himself. That, and Paula Lucky Chant helped take his mind off the excruciating amount of Pain he was in, letting himself tune into it the best he can while still giving his undivided attention to the Fight. He doesn't know why her singing tickles his memory, but it's very lovely none the less.

Then before he or everyone knew it, Byron's warning came as Diamond Steelix raged and readied itself to unleash one last hellish and defiant Diamond Storm, one which he had little doubt would knock him clean out , possibly into the afterlife. To that, all Randolph could say was thus:

"Fick mein Glück und mein Leben ...."

Diamond Storm was made, the room trembled and quaked, the diamond snake grew oh so very very bright, and he [u]whited out.....[/i]

----

Coming to awareness was difficult for the midget man. Every fiber of his short and compact being screamed in agony and fatigue, protesting anything but a thoroughly long and relaxing respite. Randolph Schmidt was a hard tack and stubborn man, though, determined not to let anything keep him down, so slowly, achingly he awoke and pulled himself up halfway up from the sleeping bag, bitting back a groan and shaking his head as he did his best to Will away the Pain he was in to addressed his best friend first.

"Not everyone's durable as you, Alman, especially after taking an Earthquake on the chin.  It'll take more than a cave in and tussle with those monsters to bump me off, though, no thanks to ya. You're damn lucky that metal monster of yours didn't end up doing Steelix's dirty work itself! Bah! Almost can't believe you of all people would set off an Earthquake in mine, *Sighs* but desperate times call for desperate measures, so I can't say I blame ya."

His tone to Bryon is cutting yet playful and familiar, which may or may not catch them off guard.

Lucas' concern is earns them a scoff, which caused him to wince and clutch his chest as that caused a fresh spasm of Pain to jolt through him.

"Blame those damn monsters for my condition, not me, damn it. Alman and his Aggron too, if ya want, since they're the ones that ended up brutalizing me the most. Et tu, brute? Oh, and I'm....."

Randolph staggers and nearly falls back onto the sleeping bag as he stands up and dusts himself off, but he somehow manages not too.

"....fine. Enough. Though....If your tortoise is still conscious, mind if you can get them to use their Grassy Terrain to help soothe away all our bruises. Rather not waste a Potion on myself , if I can avoid it. *Looks around* Where's Paula? Where are we, and where is that goddamn Diamond Steelix at? *Grumbles( And where's Sally too, 'cause I got an earful for that lass, for worrying me like that...."
