Cottonee can Mega Drain it no problem, but Shiva will really struggle to get over there! And then the guy is ~30' from the roots.
(That means I cannot even reach the roots on my own? Hmm... If I'd send in enough attacks by Pokemon, would they be able to log one of the fens to enable me reaching the roots then, or at best get near that guy?)
Most attacks would take some time to cut down a tree! A bladed move, a lethal move, and/or a fighting move would be fastest. Fire wouldn't be bad.
Well, let's see. The smallest tree that's long enough, is about the width of your hand. Making three attacks per round with one of the attacks mentioned above could probably do it with a successful Survival roll! And you have Lucky Chant up, increasing your chances of success.

A grassy hummock parts and out pops a Breloom! It's definitely smaller than Michael.
Breloom: (6) + 5 = 11
Breloom: (3) + 3 dex + 4 survival = 10
The researcher wasn't too surprised to see a Breloom out in this mugged swamp, since such a place the perfect environment for a mushroom Pokémon like itself to thrive in, but he definatley didn't expect to see one so small. 'Did this individual evolve early enough that it didn't have the chance to grow to its full height, or is it possibly a runt like Nathan's Combee? Hmm....let's see how they will react to my brother Michael, a larger, human owned member of its own species,' Ventus thought to himself, before he flicked his wrist to palm his Pokeball and summoned his mushroom of champeons with a flick of the button! Quickly taking a few steps back away from the immediate scene/potential battle area, the empath decided to let Michael and the other Breloom interact with one another without his interference, as this was a prime opportunity to collect more data on his brother's interspecies behavior! Of course, should something go terribly wrong in this exchange, Raphael was ready to swoop from hiiiiigh (Out of sight) in the sky with a Air Slash aimed straight for it!
Order: I'll let Michael and the other Breloom get to know one another/fight each other without his input for the time being. If Michael gets brutalized by his kin and/or Poisoned by it, however, Raphael's coming down on high to Ambush the bad shroom with a well placed Air Slash! Let the natural observation begin!

(Lol, I was just about to ditch that idea due to having found out these black spruce fens aren't big enough to serve as a bridge... My Starter does by far not yet know Hurricane for logging a tree fast. But Fire sounds good, indeed... I'll look into that idea tomorrow, before attempting a different thing.)

The mushrooms circle each other, creating a tiny fairy ring of spores. It looks like if either crosses this line, they'll be effected with some kind of spore. They size each other up. They start jumping, seeing who can jump higher. Then they move on to combat! They're both using Mach Punch on each other. Michael is the stronger and far tougher, but the wild Breloom is faster.
Michael
8 dice -3 actions
(6)(3)(5)(1)(3)
3 Str +2 power +1 stab -3 vit =3d6
(3)(2)(1) Michael leads off with an unlucky punch, and the wild one tries to take advantage.
Effect Spore: (4)(3)(2)
Wild
4 Dex + 3 Fight + 3 Brawl -4 actions
(6)(2)(4)(3)(5)(3)
2 Str +3 -5 vit =1d6
(1) It has no better luck.
Michael
(6)(4)(4)(3)
(4)(3)(3) Wild Breloom takes 1 dmg 6/7hp
Effect: (4)(2)(6)
Which effect: (5) Sleep. Michael is immune.
Knockdown
(5)(2)(3)(3)(2)
Michael gives up -1 accuracy to avoid leaving the circle!
(3)
Michael
(5)(3)
(4)(6)(4) Wild Breloom takes 3 dmg 3/7hp -2 pain.
Effect: (6)(4)(1)
Which effect: (2) Michael would be poisoned by the opponent, but he already has the toxic orb so I'm not sure about your command.
If Raphael intervenes, we can assume the opponent goes down in one hit.
If not, Michael gets up on his next turn, then gets back into it. Michael's early lead guarantees he wins the fight!
He stops, leaving his opponent with 1hp, and tries to drag him across the Effect Spore ring.
Grapple
8 dice, -2 actions
(6)(3)(2)(5)(5)(5)
The foe is dragged across the line, then breaks free because it has more Dexterity.
Effect Spore: (2)(2)(6)
Which Effect: (3) The opponent is paralyzed!
Victory belongs to Michael!
He gains 3XP and Ventus gains 2Xp, which includes a sociology xp.
Ventus notes that it must take two fungal Pokemon to create this arena effect of Effect Spore, 'cause he's definitely never seen it before!

There are spruces of all sizes, but the ones that are quick enough to cut through are skinny. I look forward to hearing the plan tomorrow - if you submit it before noon EST. Otherwise we'll pick up on Monday.

Ventus closely watch the his brother's fight with his fellow Breloom with rapt attention, taking careful note of not only the pre-battle acrobatics and what he now termed Effect Spore Ring Formation (or ESRF for short), but also both fighters sole use of their Fighting STABs and combat maneuvers. 'Michael could have easily dispatched his opponent with Façade if he choose, or used Stun Spore to cripple them and reduce their overall effective in their dual, but instead choose to fight honorably and with their own natural moves instead. Fascinating, just fascinating,' the researcher thought, positively beaming at the knowledge he had gained today and Michael victory over his fellow mushroom Pokémon!
The mushroom of champion, meanwhile, pumped both his arms and let out a loud cry of TRIUMPH! , proud that he provided that he was the superior Breloom of the two of them, before walking over to his master and held out his fist to them for a fist bump, which they returned with great ethusiam! "Great show of strength and skill out in the ring, Michael! I especially loved how quickly you recovered from being Knocked Down and countered them with a particularly effective Mach Pun! Hmm.....say, do you think I should treat his Paralysis with some of my medical supplies, as a form of compensation for his own efforts in the fight? This swamp is filled with all sorts of dangerous creatures, and I don't savor the thought of one of you kin being taken advantage because he can't effectively defend themselves or flee. The choice is yours, of course, and I will not mind whatever it may be."

Breloom gives that a lot of thought. Finally, he nods.

Once he received their approval, Ventus briskly moved towards the fallen Breloom, slowly croached down over it and told them: "Be calm, Breloom, I'm only here to treat your Paralysis," before pulling out his Paralyze Heal and using it on them to cure them of the status and, after another second of though, pull out an Oran Berry and handed it to them. "There! Now you should be able to move around unimpeded, and that Oran will at least alleviate some of the Pain you are suffering. I thank you for giving my brother Michael a terrific fight, and I pray that you will grow ever stronger from this defeat, and continue to thrive out here in this harsh environment," the empath said to them, holding out a hand to them in a gesture to help them up from off the ground.

Let's save logging some spruces as a last-resort-option, especially if they are skinny... And go for a more 'classy'/in-chara attempt?
Braixen has not been the only one being called out, as in another way too hasty movement Cottonee and Nightshade has been summoned as well! Again, absolutely no time to explain things to them as they looked up to their Master wondering what may be wrong this time. They two haven't seen her like this before either.
"E...emergency... Help... WE NEED TO REACT FAST, DEAR ONES! Cottonee, I NEED YOU TO MEGADRAIN THE WATER OUT OF THAT PATCH OF BLASTED QUICKSAND RIGHT HERE BEFORE US... *points to it dramatically* Not everything, concentrate on creating some sort of path that we or any of us MIGHT pass! You, Nightshade... JOIN INTO THAT, PLEASE! Increase the sun to help decreasing the moisture, then send some Leech Seeds to sprout and solidify a firm ground..."
Let's also hope that that guy stopped struggling and flailing... "HEY! YOU STILL THERE?! I SAID STOP MOVING AND I MEAN IT! I... I am WORKING ON IT, OKAY? DON'T MIND THE HARSHER SUNLIGHT, THAT'S PART OF IT! Just... stop flainin' and shield your eyes, k?"
"Braixen, Sarah... You stay back for now."
Accuracy MegaDrain1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 3 Actions = 5d6
Accuracy MegaDrain1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 4 Actions = 4d6
Accuracy MegaDrain1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 5 Actions = 3d6
Is a Damage Roll needed?
Sunny Day goes first, then Cottonee shall take her action. It also works the other way round, but Nightshade is not starting with leechseeding before Cottonee isn't taking the initiative. Hopefully harsh rays of sunlight help bereaving this quicksand of water, making it more solid = less dangerous!
Accuracy Sunny Day: 3 Dext + 2 Survival + 2 Nature = 7d6
(Another attempt to brighten up the sky is priority over Leech Seeds, so another repeat if this Roll shall unexpectadly fail.)
Accuracy Leech Seed 1: 5*Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 1 reduced Accuracy - 3 Actions = 6d6
Accuracy Leech Seed 2: 5*Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 1 reduced Accuracy - 4 Actions = 5d6
Accuracy Leech Seed 3: 5*Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 1 reduced Accuracy - 5 Actions = 4d6
Lucky Chant is also in effect.

Nathan chuckles, then shakes his head again. "Not today. Maybe when we're out of this swamp. And Masq isn't just another Shiny. There's a bit more to him than that."
"I look foward for it then. But if you want some warm up, call me 'kay? I alway ready to some good exercise."
