[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(05-05-2017, 10:08 PM)Lord Windos Wrote: @Iron

Why are you making it hard for Ventus. I don't think he plans on having another freak attack like last time, but he sure as hell will get his Shroomish to wilt every single one of those flowers.

Considering the Deyo existed before Ventus did, he's the one making it hard for me!  Big Grin

I think I might still go after it. I mean, you head into a power plant, you sort of know you're in for it.
This is Route 1. From a character perspective, a newbie route full of trainers starting out which doesn't even allow Poison is no place for a stray explosive.

Unless you've got other plans, or I'm derailing something. I'd like a crack at retrieving said Voltorb. I mean, at Disobedience 4 it doesn't do anything for the team, but yeah, sticking with the character concept, it's what he'd do, even if it means dropping it off at a Pokemon Center or somewhere secure.

As a player, stray ordnance has been a real thing where I'm from, so yeah.

However, Growlithe sniffed out the trail of Voltorb before it met the juggler and got mistaken for a Pokeball. He found two or three of the Deyo flowers (sorry Ventus) and another small meteor crater, this one fresher than the first (though still a few hundred years old). This, his nose says, is where Voltorb was nesting.

According to the Pokedex, Mankey and Primeape are common enough on Mt. Molten, but they are not supposed to venture down into town. Pokedex agrees that Staryu and Ralts were out of place, and maybe Voltorb.

If this wasn't a social game involving a group, I'd literally hare off on a one-man crusade to find and capture that Voltorb, since seriously leaving a bomb ball which has already hurt someone in a public area chafes both character and player.
I don't think that would be helpful at all the metaplot though.

Handwavium?

It's true that both Larry and Vincent have backstory reasons to be concerned about Voltorb; he mentioned it quite early in the game thread.

As GM I don't mind you going after it, and agree with your reasons for doing so. This is the Noob Zone.

Killed his father, IIRC.

I'm just going to say that Ventus was too distracted by sexy to notice the explsion, and that he won't get Vincent's text until after battle. When he does, though... well he won't flip out on him, but Ventus is going to be pretty unhappy with (in his view) reckless actions in messing with the flowers...

He did warn them that investigating them would only cause trouble, and look what happened coincindentally... (Of course it didn't happen that way, but he won't see the difference between Causation and Correlation in this instance ._. )

Since we're on this topic, Vincent never mentioned anything to Ventus.

You specifically said that you sent that text out to everyone in one of your posts. If you retcon that, Ventus is still going to do some investigating about the explosion and track down those flowers. He'll also try and find Vincent, since he was the at the blast epicenter, and wants to make absolutely sure he's ok.

He glances down at the Pokedex and taps out a message, sending it to the group. It's short and terse.

Had a bad run in with a Voltorb. Attempting retrieval. Currently pursuing due south towards the river. Will stay in contact.

He considers for a moment, then taps out a second private message to Nathan along with a set of coordinates. Meteorite crater at coordinates. Found signs of Deyo flowers. Have collected and am moving on. Implications unclear.

He pushes himself back to his feet and glances south towards the mountain.

"NOT THE BRIGHTEST THING YOU'RE DOING, SON."

I know. Serve and Protect.

"Sieg. You're ranging ahead. Go up and scout for the Voltorb. Winston, Moran. See if you can pick up the trail again. Not expecting a miracle, but lets get to it."

So Nathan has more info than the whole group.

There were only a couple flowers and they have been plucked. If you are very very lucky in your investigation you might find the stubble of the stems - they could stand out a bit due to how unique they are.

I've been digging them up by the roots since the first batch. (Page 36.)

Sample collection doesn't reward the half-assed.  Cool

Which reminds me. Mallorn never responded regarding the information request on the flowers did he?
