Well, Shiva's survived her fight with the fiendish crow! And nothing tragic happened during it! Hooray! Hopefully she'll get back to the van unmolested, though...

I've got an idea, but it's a little risky. Staryu could light up the area with Illuminate if we can't pinpoint Shiva's direction. If we can, I can just point the pokeball in her general direction. It might attract some wild pokemon, though...

Well, I liked your compromise, but it seemed to have quite the opposite effect on Ventus. Instead of going out to rescue Shiva, he now seems rather content to mind his own business around the van. Nathan argument and offer must have shook him up good if it stopped him from going after Shiva...

And Nathan argues that it can be worried about later.  If Ventus can't pull himself together after this, well...then Nathan is really going to think less of him.  Reliability in a crisis is something Nathan values a lot right now due to the situation, and will likely value in the future.  Nathan's gonna try his best to talk Ventus out of it, but he'll go himself if Ventus can't pull himself together.  And that means less light around the RV if there's only one pokemon there rather than two illuminating it.

It's less of trying to convince him to go out and moreso telling him to get his act together.  Though Nathan does think it would be better for Ventus to go out there with Ralts.  It'll be a lot easier to find the way back if the RV is lit up, there's a guiding beam of light, and Ralts is trying to get back to his trainer.  Logically, it makes sense.  Nathan's definitely getting annoyed at Ventus's...avoidance right now.  Not the time for it.

Now's he's positively frightened of stepping on your toes again, in fear of creating an even bigger gap between him and you. Its also funny to me, since a younger trainer is bossing around a 28 year old man to get his shit together and work, dang it! He's supposed to be the responsible one; how'd you manage to steal that position

Well, being the responsible one usually means keeping a clear head.  Ventus hasn't exactly been doing a very good job of that recently.  I think the flowers might have gotten to him a little TOO much.  Nathan wants to try and get this problem cleared up ASAP, since those flowers don't seem to be going away.  Can't have a schism in the group after all.  Plus, Nathan wouldn't want to lose what he thinks could be a valuable teammate.  

If Ventus had refused to go out there with Ralts, then there would've been more issues.  But thankfully, things are on the mending track now.  Let's hope it stays that way when Nathan finally has that private talk with Ventus.

Indeed. Ventus is very kind and generous (when his or his friends life are not at risk, anyway), but he's a bit of a scatter brain at times. His worry over Nathan and Vincent has not really helped out at all on that front, but as you said, things are at least getting better between Nathan and him. Don't know about Vince yet, given he's lost out there in the Great Divide...
