And one more additional note I want to make: in the games, Hex only receives bonus damage if the opponent is affected by a non-volatile status (one that doesn't go away when the pokemon switches out). The rulebook says status condition in its description of the move, but so does the in-game description of it. Neither does a particularly good job of pointing out the move's quirk (though the book doesn't really distinguish between volatile and non-volatile conditions all that well, either). Going by that rule, it would work for a burn for example, but not confusion.

Yeah, I knew that quirk and decided to go with the loose interpretation for Pokerole. That's how it'll be for any Pokemon who can learn Hex.
Let it be known!!

Giving Togepi a happiness point during the battle reminds me that I should give Nathan's ace a happiness point too. Ponyta gains 1 happiness, in pride.

Swinub rolled pretty badly, and I think you picked just about the best strategy at all times. I think Arbok would have done well against him, but it could have been a lot closer if the sixes fell in slightly different places.

I was hoping Inner Focus would come into play to teach Arbok some humility, but the risk of disobedience makes that pretty unlikely.

Alright, mechanical question time, @Iron! How would Psywave work since levels are incredibly abstract in this game? There's a system for that in base pokerole, but this homebrewed system has sort of broken that, since it's based off of the pokemon's stats as opposed to the trainer's, and we're purely using the trainer stats for most everything.

I'm considering teaching Psywave to Staryu in the future, but need to figure out the damage potential first...

I was discussing this with Nylon (for Night Shade). We were tossing around the idea of 1 dice, +1 for every gym badge obtained. It would start out as a pretty weak move and get stronger faster than most moves do. By the time you reach the league it would be 7 power with no downsides. What do you think?

Interesting...I take it that it will get a STAB boost as well (when Staryu evolves, that is...), unlike in the games?  That's a pretty nice way to go about it, I think.
