[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
It's kind of hard to communicate with Azurill, 'cause it seems to have a one track mind, and that track is taken by sadness. It clutches the hat - you sense that this hat is more important to it than the trainer who let it go, possibly. You are also able to understand that it still has respect for its former trainer, so you're guessing it wasn't cruelly abandoned, but rather lost or maybe the Azurill even escaped or something.

You do get a whiff of determination lying deep, deep underneath the sadness.

Ok, it's dead. Ventus and Apsis are racking up quite the kill count.

That's about all Apsis can eat, since she just ate yesterday.

Chomping down on the tasty Remoraid, Apsis sent a strong surge of electricity into the fish, instantly killing and cooking it to perfection! Chawing down her meal, the giant snake let out a hiss of contentment. All of that fish sastified the worst of her hunger pains, so she slinked back to her master and recoiled around him again, before lightly dozing off in the sun. Happy that all was resolved, he was about to cast his line in the water again to catch a meal for her to consume later, when Nathan walked up with the formerly distressed Azurill, still in that top hat of its. (That wraps things up nicely, doesn't it?

Tapping his chin and withdrawing the offered Poffin (Since it was too depressed to even nibble on it), Ventus tried to brainstorm just what was the source of this mouse's despair. 'Hrrmmm...it appear that their distress doesn't stem from being an Azuirll, per say, but rather for some sort of failing on their part. They also don't seem to hold any ill feelings towards there old trainer, so it most likely got separated from them at some point in time. In addition, they seem to be awfully attached to that top hat, as if its some cherished possesson, rather than its improtu life boat. Hmm....maybe its this reason....'

Gently patting the critter on the head, the researcher tentively tried to reach out to them again. "You not ashamed because of being an Azurill, are you. Is the source of your sadness lie with this hat, perhaps. Where you a Contest Pokémon that got separated from you master on accident? If that is the case, we'll try to get you back ASAP, if you'll lead the way."

[It should be noted, for anyone paying attention, that Ventus is so focused on the Azurill that he totally missed Nathan going after that flock of birds. Otherwise, he'd would have at least offered to help.]

When you say that, you realize that being an Azurill is actually part of it, or at least related.

Alright. Now it's Tailow's turn to get focused down! Pidgeotto's after that. Pause if a -2 or -3 pain penalization is accrued on Ralts or Staryu. Still spamming Confusion and Water Gun.

How adorable! The little Fletchling didn't objected as Shiva gently stroke it under the beak, instead it even began to chirp happily. Neither did it mind to be nudged with a Pokeball. That's the third Pokemon now she got to join her without any battle or violence... Feels good. Given that Fletchling didn't even exist in Unova and it will gain Fire Type upon evolving into a Fletchinder, this singing bird was quite a neat addition to her so far companions. Additionally comes the side effect of being helpful in the process of egg hatching - this time for real, the Charm was more an emotional help.

Upon being called out of the Pokeball again, the Fletchling flew around a little in high spirits of the thought of traveling alongside this girl who randomly came along and feeded her cookies (Fletchling shall be a female exemplar!), before it came to rest on the offered side of her right hand, looking up expectantly on new Master. (I feel that this would be a better place instead of carrying it on sgoulder.) Shiva could not help but smile at the sight the bird was giving her. "You got enough cookies for now, dear one. How about we go back to the others then? None will hurt...you..." At the last two words, her smile slightly faded, and instant worry flooded her. But only for a moment... No need to scare Fletchling unneccessarily. She just...realized that she's carring a small singing bird on her hand... And Ventus had an Arbok... At first glance, sounds like perfect dinner for the snake. At second glance...she trustd Ventus enough in the fact that he'll take care not to let his snake consume her bird. He just...wouldn't let that happen. Never ever... He wouldn't dare to hurt her, nor to threaten the sort of friendship they've build up by now, wouldn't he? No, he wouldn't. Never. Just...trust him. Yeah, that'll be it. Trust in him for now, and don't make him worry. (Unconsciously she may nevertheless act a little vary around Apsis, but that might rather come from her discomfort around Snake Pokemon in general.)

Just as Shiva turned to leave, that bush she fished that Fletcling from caught her eye again. Now, at a closer look, it turned out to be a Oran Berry Bush... And it indeed held some berries! She only found one that was ripe to be harvested, though. Oh well, their natural time of being harvested is yet to come, after all. Starring at the Oran Berry for a moment, she decided to cut it in two pieces using a small pocketknife and give one peice to both Fletchling and Minun to eat up, since those two were her current Pokemon around. Now it's really time to go back, she wouldn't want the others to leave her behind, wait for her, or worry for her!

On the way back, following the River, she remembered what that...Trainer with the Dratini said... Obviously, there were no Dratini to be seen just now. But maybe Ventus would be interested to hear this... After all, he expressed a liking for Dragon Types to her once.

Uppon arriving, she spotted that he was indeed there where she's been with the others before. Nathan, Larry and Valder were nowhere to be seen though, and Apsis was...practically hugging him. While sleeping, by the looks of it. What an...adorable look, to be honest... Shiva picked up that...confident feeling he was unconsciously expressing... was it happiness over the situation? In fact, there was no need to be scared of the cobra just now.

She greeted and carefully approached him, still carrying her new Fletchinder on hand.  "So, eh... Good to see you again. Where are the others? ... Ah, Nathan was off to battle a swarm of birds, Larry went to search for Bug Pokemon and Valder was off to search for a battle? Ugh...always up for fights, aren't they...?" Then her gaze fell on the top hat Ventus was carrying currently. But she didn't realize that there was a sad young Pokemon in it... (If she does, and sees that it's an Azurill on top of that, she'd probably be thrilled to bits. Currently, she is in a relatively happy mood, maybe that may have an effect on the Azurill. Fairy Types are sensitive to emotions, after all.) "... Where did you got that one from?"

(MECHANICAL NOTE, she went off to search for Fletchlings before Nathan or/and Ventus were dealing with the top hat at all. So she might not have realized it was in the river, at all.)

Birds Round 2

Tailow darts toward a stream of water, then suddenly appears on the other side where Ralts is.

Quick Attack[/u]
(3)(3)(5)(5)(6)(6)
(3)(2)(3) Ralts skillfully redirects Tailow's momentum, twirling like a ballerina. He sends Tailow off with a Confusion.

Confusion
(4)(6)(1)(4)
2 Str + 2 power + 1 stab -1 vit = 4 dice
(3)(6)(4)(4) Tailow takes 3 damage and flees.
(2)

Water Gun
(2)(2)(6)(5)
2 vit this time
(3)(5)(5)(1) Pidgeotto takes 2 damage. 4/6hp, -1.

Pidgeotto retaliates with a Whirlwind attack.
(6)(1)(6)(1)

Staryu is blown far, far downstream. You see him splash safely into the river and start working his way loyally back toward you. It's hard to judge Staryu's emotions, but you think he just gained a Loyalty point.

Confusion
(4)(5)(4)
(1)(6)(1) Ralts sends out a bigger blast of psychic energy than ever before, and has to actually pull back his energy to avoid accidentally hitting Nathan with any of it. So Pidgeotto escapes unscathed.
(2)

Birds Round 3

Confusion
(6)(2)(6)(1)
(5)(1)(2) Pidgeotto takes 1 damage. 3/6 -2
(1)

Gust
(4)(3)(5)
(4)(3)(3) Ralts takes 1 damage. You notice that Ralts is sort of struggling at times, and excelling at others. He seems a bit distracted or confused.

Confusion 2
(3)(2)(2) Miss

Birds Round 4

Confusion
(2)(3)(2)(1)

Sand Attack
(5)(5)(4) Ralts' accuracy -1

Confusion 2
Now 1 less accurate
(4)(3)
(2)(1)(6) Pidgeotto takes 1 damage. 2/6

Birds Round 5

Confusion
(6)(6)(1)
(6)(6)(5) Pidgeotto faints, using its last energy to crawl into the shelter of a thicket.

Ralts gains 3 xp, Staryu gains 3xp, Nathan gains 3+2xp for heroism.

Fletchinder redoubles its daredevil antics, happy to be free of the mob. It turns a dripping leak of water into steam, and comes soaring out of the mist to do two circles of thanks above your head, before diving back into nature's obstacle course.

Second: (6)(1)
Dmg: 2 Str + 2 power -2 vit = 2 dice, +2 super effective
