[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
As soon as Scyther made the move to attack him, his eyes widened imperceptibly as he quickly flicked out a Pokeball at random! Out pops Raphael, who briefly looks around for a moment to see where its master was, before getting nailed with a Fury Cutter! The force of the blow sent it scittering back, making it rock back and forth in pain! Granted, it didn't do too much damage to their body, as their shell protected them, but it still really hurt! Rolling back up right, it gave the Scyther a pretty rude gesture as charmly as possible! (Looks like Raphael has learned something naughty along the way...)

Meanwhile, Ventus was flat on his back from Scyther relentless assault, leaning up slightly to access his injuries. 'Looks bad, but the damage is superficial and temporary at worst. I can endure the pain without wasting medical resources. Need to get to cover, and let Raphael wear Scyther down, along with Porygon,' the researcher though, crawling painfully behind a large rock to tend to his injuries, peeking over the cover every once in awhile to see how the battle's progressed! Well, it was not as if he was expecting it to come peacefully, but he didn't think it would go straight for the neck!

Order: Raphael will use Charm, and I will spend a Will Point so that its guaranteed to hit, then it will use Yawn on it in succession. Raphael also has another Oran Berry on it (Nathan gave me 3, so I gave them another after Zamboni's battle), and will eat it as soon as it suffer -1 Pain or more. Ventus has crawled behind cover, and is currently peeking over to see when its the right time to throw his Net Ball (-1 Pain or less).

*PsssssssHHH!* But the little Pokemon can't get the stream of water quite high enough. This makes her very sad.

Oh.. OH! While it was impressive, it failed. Meh.

"D... don't be too hard with yourself, dear one. ... Please look at me while speaking."

She gave the Azurill an appreciating expression, showing that she values the mouse's effort. "You tried. You did something. You didn't failed, you hear? Please... don't give me such a sad look. You'll only make me gloomy as well.... You're an awsome lil' blue mouse to me nevertheless. "

"And... " At this point, Cottonee came over, the fluffball's curiosity was slapped awake by that random stream of water nearby. Seeing Azurill sad, she cuddled up a little to the blue mouse, offering her soft cotton as cozy comfort. Same time, Shiva gave both the part Fairy-Types gentle strokes and an adorable apprecating smile, filled with determination between the lines. "I'm sure one day you'll hit branches that are further away. I promised I'll help you on that, did I? ... You just have to let me, dearest one. Alright?" ^-^

"We'll try again, shall we? Now, can you hit that pile of orange and yellow leaves over there?" 10 meters away from where they were currently, 0 meters above ground obviously.

Azurill looks confused about where Shiva is pointing. She goes over to show him, and trips over a crate! It looks like it was abandoned.

Crate contents: 1 Revive, 1 soothe bell, 1 Quke Berry facial treatment ("for smoothest skin!")

After being teleported into cover, Ventus looks down at his ankles and sees that they are bleeding slightly, but not enough to count as a damage apparently.

Scyther Round 01

Charm
(5)(3)(1)(1) Good thing you used a Will point! Togepi's force of personality is so great that even insults are charming coming from him.

Enemies coming at Scyther from all sides! Must slice them all! It pursues Togepi, and aims a blow on Porygon too as the digiduck pursues.

Fury Cutter
(2)(4)(3)(2)(4)
3 damage dice, -2 charm
(1)

Fury Cutter 2
(4)(1)(4)(3)
(3)

Fury Cutter 3
(3)(5)(6)
(2)

That charm attack was outstandingly effective!

Tackle
(4)(2)(1)(3)
(4)(6)(2)(1) Scyther takes 2 damage

Yawn
2 Dex +2 Fight +1 canalize -3 for being the second action
(4)(3) Hit! Scyther is looking drowsier. He was way too close to that Yawn to be unaffected.

Tackle
(5)(1)(2)
(4)(3)(5)(2) Scyther takes 2 damage again 3/7 -2.

Scyther's blades start to move faster even as he gets drowsier. His blades look more deadly now, if he could only...keep..his limbs...up...

Scyther Round 02

Scyther falls asleep!
This is the moment Ventus has been waiting for.

Net Ball: 8 seals
(4)(5)(2)(1)(6)(2)(6)(2) - 4 successes

Will: 9, -1 sleep, -2 pain = 6
(4)(4)(2)(2)(6)(4) The ball is struck with a scythe, onto the ground, before Scyther can be sucked inside!

Kirlia kindly teleports to the ball and tosses it back to Ventus.

Keep attacking, Ventus?

Noticing that Scyther was both asleep and looking worse for wear, but that the Pokémon was still doing its level best to resist his efforts to obtain it, he decided that one more love tap from Raphael would solve that problem. Wincing a bit, he took a deep breath and bellowed out a command : "Raphael, Strike it until its on the verge of fainting, then quickly retreat to my side! I don't want you to be harmed even more by it if possible! Don't knock it out if at all possible!" Cringing a bit from a burst of pain that follow right after that yell, he readied to throw his Net Ball once at the bug when the time was ripe!

Order: Have Raphael lower Scyther's HP to 1 using strike, then throw the Net Ball. Raphael will retreat if it substains -2 Pain or more if it has already used its Oran Berry. If Scyther wakes up before its brought to 1 HP, Raphael will attempt to use Yawn again.

"Porygon, stand down for now. Looks like Ventus is ready to try catching it. Be ready if it wakes up, though."

... Ough... Whoever put stones in the way, will pay for it. Thank Arceus all the leaves on the ground cushioned her fall a little.

However... upon investigating further, it was a small crate that made her trip and loose focus. By the looks of it, it wasn't laying there for long... Maybe, no probably, someone lost it. Or left it there on purpose. Eh...whatever, finder's keeper's in this case. Turning it around, Shiva also realized it there must be something inside - oh, curiosity strikes. Didn't took much effort to open the crate, it was not locked or sealed.

Inside...was what looked like a real freaking Soothe Bell... A new and shimmering one, not like the faded one Azurill was currently wearing on her tail. Indeed, upon moving the bell it gave the unmistakable chirm of a real Soothe Bell. Shiva knew that sound rather well. As well as...was that a Revive? It looked like one... Will be kept aside for emergencies then. She hoped that it will never be put in use, but if, she won't hesitate to use it. On her own and the other's Pokemon. Last thing.... oh... never heared of Quke Berries (how does one pronounce this correctly?!)... But that thing still had its hygienic seal untouched, so it wasn't full of bacteria and stuff. We'll keep it for now, just in case.

Wait... Soothe Bell... She turned towards Azurill by her side, then giving the mouse an expression that meant pure appreciation. Mentioned mouse peered at her from the rim of the top hat. Neither of them suffered any damage due to the fall, luckily. "Listen, Azu... I told you to please not be sad, and fate gifted us with this." She showed the Bell to the blue mouse. "I'll gift it to you. Can you come out of the top hat for a moment, please?" *assuming the mouse does as wished* Carefully, Shiva removed the old faded Soothe Belle that was attached to the Aurill's tail at the moment, and replaced it with the newly found new one using the same purple ribbon. The old one is packed away into bagpack; it still had a use and emotional matter to her.

"Aww... You look a tiny bit more adorable now! Not like you weren't formerly. So, what do you think? You like the chirm the bell is giving out?" ... "And, up to hit more branches with Water Gun now?"

Scyther Round 2 continued

Strike
2 dex + 2 fight +2 brawl = 6 dice
(3)(5)(5)(3)(2)(3)
Dmg: 1 power + 2 str -2 vit = 1 dice
(1)

Sleep
Insight: (1)(4) Total successes accumulated: 1/5

Tackle
(4)(3)(3)(1)
(6)(5)(4)(2) Scyther takes 3 damage. Porgyon is a beast!

Time for another Net Ball!

Seals: (3)(3)(4)(4)(2)(2)(5)(2) Three successes.
Scyther: 9 will, -1 sleep, -3 pain = 5 dice
(3)(4)(4)(5)(2)

Scyther Round 3

Again the ball is collected, and again Scyther tries to wake up, and again the ball is tossed.

Insight: (6)(1) Two successes accumulated.

Seals: (3)(5)(1)(1)(6)(6)(1)(6) Three successes
(2)(2)(1)(2)(2)

The sleeping Scyther is caught!!!

Loyalty and Happiness will be 0. Disobedience is 3! Ability is Swarm - note that Technician synergizes well with Fury Attack if you want to spend the XP in the distant future.
Movelist: Quick Attack, Vacuum Wave, Focus Energy, Pursuit, Agility, Wing Attack, Fury Cutter! Basically everything except False Swipe - Wild Scyther take no prisoners.
No surprises.

Good job! You guys really shut that threat down. Yawn is an awesome move, and Porygon is an offensive beast!

He's worth 6xp total, so each of you have 3xp to divide among your Pokemon that fought him, and each of the trainers can go ahead and have 2xp. Then a bonus Ventus Xp for "picking a pokeball at random in a panic" - I liked that.

Quke berries are like a cucumber and pronounced as such. The Guidebook says they are endemic to Creshire, and they have a lot of Vitamin C - good for your skin.

Azurill actually does a dance upon receiving the bell. What's interesting is that the Pokemon doesn't look happy when it does this dance - it looks like a dance it knows by rote, with steps and everything!

Then it's up for more Water Gun practice. It is most comfortable hitting things on the ground. Bear in mind it doesn't have STAB yet, so the Water Gun is a weak one.

"Porygon! I told you to stand down and be ready, not to continue Tackling it! Yes, it was a dangerous situation, but you ignored my orders! We'll be talking about this later."

Nathan recalls Porygon, sorely disappointed in the pokemon's unexpected disobedience. He quickly strides over to Ventus. His ankles are cut, sweater is torn, he's bleeding in multiple places..."Here, let me help you up. You okay there, Ven?" He offers a hand to pull up his wounded friend, and a shoulder to lean on as well. There's little sign of his earlier depression.
