Edited my latest post to include the fact that Ventus is completely clueless about Sage's character intension. Remember, when in dangerous situations, he tunnel visions badly on whatever the threat is, unless he has a plan and/or he has something else to worry about on top of the danger at hand.

If you want, I could just delete my post and just not react to things until Sage catches the beast. Other than that, I can't think of an in character reason for Ventus suddenly picking up on Sage's chara desire to capture the thing in the middle of battle, when said character has done nothing to vocalize or make known said desire. Ventus may be an empath, but even he capable of being distracted.

@Iron : Techinically speaking, the Poliwhirl is already knocked out, as Iron did not add the +1 damage to Apsis' first Thunder Fang attack, so the point is moot anyway.

Ventus, you would know Sage is trying to catch a Pokemon. It's quite obvious when this goes on.

Also, meta-wise, it would have to be an XP bid when you have one player who wants to knock it out and one player who wants to catch it as-is. Doesn't matter the justification - it's meta once it gets that far.

If it faints in the middle of a round when no one has announced an intention, that would definitely be different (which is technically what should have occurred here).

For now though my ruling is that we'll just pause for the night with Poliwhirl at 1hp and give Shiva a chance to catch it. I doubt she wants to, but I'll make Sage's roll in the morning.

I was not aware that knocking out a Pokémon started a bidding war, since the person could just catch the KOed Pokémon anyway, but now that I am aware of that, I'll just delete my post and let Sage have his chance at catching the Poliwhirl. I'm not trying to be difficult here, I was just honestly unaware that Knocking it out constitute a bidding war in this situation, and that Ventus would automatically know that Sage's chara desire to catch the Pokémon. After all, it has never been made a point that a Capture is always noticeable, regardless of vocalized intent or not. Sorry about the trouble, guys...

He looks like a nice guy. Just...relying on medicine. But that does not have to be something bad or impeding, practiclally speaking. Hope we will get along all well!

Me too! I bet he'll get sanctioned by the 3rd or 4th gym, at minimum, if he's not extremely caution and/or goes rouge on someone important.

Shiva will do whatever she can to prevent that. May it be through soothing words to him, just staying by his side for comfort or sweeping the knife out of his hand.

That is, if she doesn't happen to be in 'vile witch mode' in that moment.
