Bugcatcher Roosevelt Round 2

Corsola works very hard to deliver her powerful Bubble at the perfect opportunity, hitting as hard as possible with Hustle.

Dmg: 7 dice, -2 vit = 5
(5)(4)(6)(4)(4) Butterfree takes 5 damage. Hustle is amazing when it works, wow.
Chance: (6)

"Locking it down with sleep powder is our only hope, Butterfree! It's too fast! After that we have to carefully consider our fourth move."

Sleep Powder
4 Dex + 2 Fight -3 acc = 3 dice
(5)(5)(5) Corsola goes to sleep.

Ventus, upon seeing the Butterfree use Sleep Powder, give Roosevelt the deadpannest look imaginable. "There is fighting with guile and cunning, but this is just delaying the inevitable good sir. Ariel can weather the worst of the damage you Butterfree can inflict, and frankly swamp them in turn when they wake. *Sigh* I'm willing to call the match a lose, if you won't take the accepted prize money. Otherwise, I'll wait for Corsola to wake, and she'll definitely be unhappy with her short nap time...."

Order; Make a deal with the Trainer to end the fight now, without Ventus losing any money. If they refuse, he'll wait until Corsola awaken, then have it use Bubble once more on it. For now on, if I see an enemy have a Sleep move in its pool before I encounter it, I'm not battling it without at least 3 Awakening in my pocket....

"Ok, you have yourself a deal. Butterfree has a chance to chew through Corsola's stony skin before she wakes up, but if not, the fight is over as soon as she wakes up! We'll call it a draw."

I believe you wanted to have a second fight after this one?

Letting out a sigh of relief, he thanked the man and shook his hand in good sportsmanship, before waking up his Corsola and posting a notice for another battle, this time putting up a challenge offer of $250 Poke Dollars and Two Pokeballs, specifying that he wants to fight a Fire type trainer this time. "If I want to properly train Ariel, I have to put her against opponent she can actually preform well against. Next time, I'll have her fight at a type disadvantage, but I want her to get used to fighting under my command first," Ventus muttered to himself, patting Ariel on the head and getting *Squirted!* for his efforts.

After that battle (Regardless or victory/loss), he heads over to the Trading board, and see what is being offered for a Scyther. While he would love nothing more than to keep and train such a beast, it might not be for the best if the Cheshire league is already giving him the leery eye for his handling of Apsis. Ah... It was morning already...

Ven's dorm was a weird place. Or it was just the fact that she was not used stuff like this. Quite a cozy place nevertheless! Filled with the scent of Lavender. Or it was just her imagination... Anyway, he let her have the journal to read through it, while he was appearantly meditating. He told her he always does that when he's upset or close to burning out. What an interesting habit...

Another interesting thing was Shiva was half-cuddled up to Ventus as she woke up. When...did she do that... But since she woke up before he did and quickly withdrew a little, he might not have realized. Fennekin was sleeping over cuddled in a little cave he made from the blanket. So adorable!

The journal itself was VERY interesting. It surely was a benefit to have first-hand reports of Genesect's strenght and behaviour instead of lore and other old writings.

A quick check-in on Nurse Joy informed her about Helios' state: He's fine. All the teleporting from yesterday just drained him and his powers a little, but he fully recovered during the night. Oh happy news! Shiva agreed to pick up her Psychic Pokemon later this day.

Felt good to step outside the Pokemon Center. The air was clean and energizing. Even if the town was full of of Bug Types. But, now that she has a Fennekin by her side... That shouldn't be such a problem. In fact, she actually looked forward to raise the little fox properly. Raise him to full power, trigger evolution twice until she can call a Fox Wizard her own. The stars above led her to this elusive fox, and she was honestly thankful for the granting. After hearing Nathan's comment that those are practically THE rarest Pokemon in Fireweed Forest it only was even sweeter.

It'll also help in hatching the egg that was formerly in Vincent's hand. However... She already had a full team... The egg was taking a spot in the party. Hmm...

Eh... Anyway, we can think about that later. And visit the library as well. But first of all, finding one of the Officiers is it. Preferably Lumin himself. To get rid of the fine.

Lumin is away on business, but you can pay your fine to any of the Rangers, including the one on desk duty. He seems like a nice, non-judgmental guy.

The Ranger Station is an interesting place, with photos of the artwork of Fireweed everywhere, as well as little displays on some of the plants. You learn that your "borrowed" red and gold herbs are called Spindleweed - supposedly some ancient Fairy Pokemon spun the color of sunlight and firelight into these stems. They can cure headaches and can be crafted into a cure for Confusion. They also help with sleep.

With a bit of research, you learn to craft a held Incense: -1 on Insight checks when trying to wake up, but the first successful Confusion chance dice has to be rerolled 1 time! This expends the Incense.

You'll need to gather a bit more of this stuff, but you are sure you saw some in the forest, and plenty of it.

Ventus gets a trade offer for a Noibat. They're very rare and can only be found in the Great Divide or on the peak of Mount Molten. They do have a single point in Disobedience, but this Pokemon would come with 1 point in Loyalty and 2 in Happiness, since it has already had some training with humans. It was used in a gold mine, where it had the important job of warning miners about incoming seismic activity, and fighting off threats. It knows Screech, Supersonic, Gust, and Bite.

Since it evolves quite late, Ventus would have time to increase its loyalty before it evolves into a less obedient Noivern.

The gold mine in question is almost dry, and they'll be looking to do some forestry on it to reclaim the filled pits. Scyther would work well.

(I'll bring up another trainer after I finish this tasty burrito).

Mulling it over for a little while, Ventus decides that the trade is quite acceptable. "Giving up Scyther is quite the hard decision for me to contemplate, but I think its for the best. I can't afford the time and upkeep it would take to evolve it into a Scizors, and I was already looking for a Dragon type for my team. Having one that is well discipline already is a great boon as well, so it would be remiss of me not to accept your offer! We have an accord, sir," he said to the trader, offering Uriel's Pokeball to them for the trade.

(I'll let you introduce Niobat to my character. The reason I ask this is that I base my Pokémon's personalities off how they first interacted with Ventus, so I'm quite interested to see how the Niobat will take to me!)

Weird thing about the Ranger Union. While it had a kind and not-intimidating athmosphere, the authority that dwelled here was clearly noticable for Shiva. Fennekin by her side reacted to this by lowering his head in slight fear and stepping closer to his new Master.

Oh... Lumin himself is away? Well... But appearantly she can pay to anyone there. Therefore, she drew the 500$ before stepping towards the guy on Desk Duty. Feeling relucant to give such a sum away, but it has to be... You have to take responsibility for your actions, right? If that's the case - and she had the feeling to consider herself lucky that the fine was not higher! then she'll do so without complaining. A sign of maturity.

"Ehm... *cough* Well, hello. I'm just here to pay the fine of 500$ for using a non-damaging move on a person... Out of fear and the thought he might attack me..." *handing over the money* Ah. Was this now dreariness that emerged in her? "Now... With the fine payed, is the case now closed for me? Never want to be reminded on it again... Learned the lesson... And I bet my parents in Castelia would not be happy either if they hear about it. But... I'm over 18, so that makes me legally competent and I surely need to take my own responsibility for actions I take and decisions I make." ... "So... No need to tell them right?"
