Uh oh. 'It appears I have forgotten that Nathan was a part of my conversation with Shiva, and now he knows the full extent of my folly. Oh dear....' Ventus thought, letting out a sigh as he turned to face the young trainer. He noticed the gobsmacked and consternated look on his face, and gave up the complete Swana, as it were. "Yes, Nathan, $3000. A fine for authorizing Lethal Damage on that Pinsir you are trying to befriend, to be completely forthright. I made the choice because I thought the beast was going to kill Apsis with its action, but apparently Lumen see differently on this matter. I would appreciate any aid I receive to pay off the debt, but do not feel obligate to do so. I desire not to lay even a fraction of my burdens on your feet, my friend..."

Nathan looks a little irked at Ventus's interpretation of his conversation with Pinsir.  "Who said I was trying to befriend that Pinsir?  I doubt it'll ever be happy to see me, and I don't expect it to stop following its trainer's orders given its bond with him."

Nathan calms down a little, and lowers his voice to a whisper only Shiva and Ventus can hear.  Well, and Lucifer as well...

"That's besides the point, though.  Look.  You CANNOT afford to miss that fine's deadline.  You have too much at stake.  I'm willing to help just this once.  You'd be remiss to deny that help after what we discussed last night.  No guarantees if you get in trouble like that again, though."

The researcher let out a sigh of frustration, not wanting to get into an argument over that Pinsir. It was better off as snake food, in his opinion, but Reshirim forbid if Nathan ever heard that from him. "I'm sorry for my presumptions , then, my friend. If you are that concern about me meeting my deadline, then I will not argue against your decision. I still have 6 days left to pay off my fine, if we count yesterday, though, so don't feel rushed too help me on my part. I still want to go to the court house in Corsage, and see if I can't wave the fine at least," Ventus replied, still looking a bit frustrated at his inability to solve his problems in a timely manner, but happy to receive any help he could get.

Meanwhile, upon hearing that his master was having monetary problem, Lucifer's eyes lite up in anticipation. He though its treasure hunting were over, but it looks like his talents might come into use in the future!

Oh? So he already got in contact with the hidden powers of herbs and other plants? How interesting... She remembered his mother from the photo he showed her. What a beautiful woman she was! Almost looked a little...esoteric. Wondering what her job is then...

Shiva stopped mid-motion. After Nathan has given his comment an reaction, she seemingly has gathered enough energy to express her thoughts.

"VEN!  ... HELL, THREE-THOUS - THAT HIGH? BY ARCEUS AND THE FORCES OF NATURE ABOVE, I HOPE YOU LEARN FROM THIS AND SHOW RESPONSIBILITY LIKE A GROWN MAN! I appreciate that you were eager to protect me and Sage from any danger that person may have posed in your eyes, I really do, BUT THAT IS NO EXCUSE FOR YOUR BEHAVIOUR AND ACTION THERE AT THE POND!"

Next, she double-facepalmed. She knew his fine was most likely higher than the one she received from Officier Lumin, but that high? Oh dear... The threat of inflicting lethal damage is indeed a very serious matter... Even the simple threat is... When she faced Ventus again after a few moments, the expression he gets was one that displayed anger and disappointment. Not over him as a person - but over the mistake he has done and the situation he brought himself into. That's a huge difference!

Fennekin was all cool over this. He just twitched his ears a little over the sudden change here and kept on munching on the tasty twig he found.

"By Zekrom's lightening!" Ventus shouted, knocked on his bum by her furious tirade over his lack of responsibility. Lucifer, upon seeing his master being noisily assault by the formerly nice woman, decided to respond in kind by letting out an ear splitting Screech directly at her! That will teach her for picking on his master! Ventus, momentarily dazed and overwhelmed by the sudden torrent of emotion he received from the normally reserved woman, could not stop his little drakel in time. Hell hath not fury indeed, either from women of the devil himself!

That escalated quickly....

She managed to react quickly and intuitively at the discovery that the Noibat close to Ven was reading an attack (Insight of 3 definitely helps here in my view) and managed to cover her ears just in time. Not fully, but is indeed prevented taking any lasting damage from the Screech. The fact that she was already previously enduring a Whismur's Uproar twice followed by the loud voice of its young owner plus living and growing up in a busy and noisy city like Castelia surely played a role as well. ... That didn't mean she 'enjoyed' or 'didn't care' about the soundwave. But she took it realitively moderate.

Next, she facepalmed again, followed by a deeeeep breath. Hell, she didn't wanted to let her emotions win, actually, but they still did. On the other hand, she really hoped that Ventus takes the outcome and consequences over his behaviour to heart and manages to keep himself under better control if a similar situation arised. She's seven years younger than he is...and still she somewhat showed more responsibility for her actions...

She then offered a hand to him to help him getting up while giving him an inkling of a smile. We're fine. "Let's go to see your mercenary battle, okay?"

Pushing himself off the ground, Ventus got back up and dusted off his pants, before jabbing a finger at Lucifer nose. "NO. You do not ever assault my friends, my devil. Treat them as they were me, your own master, or face the consequences of my wrath. Do you understand, Lucifer," the researcher intoned to him, looking at the bat dead straight in the eyes. Eyes widening, the little devil crooned an apology to his master, ears once again splayed back on its head. He was only trying to fend off the she-witch's racket! It didn't mean to disobey his orders, Screeee !

Ventus couldn't stand the Baby Doll Eyes he was receiving from his little devil, so he just patted them on the way as a showing his forgiveness. Lucifer leaned into his touch, glad that he didn't ruin his relationship with the wild researcher! Looking up from his Niobat, he gave Shiva a slightly ragged look, before just shaking his head. "I don't regret my action at the pond Shiva, but I understand what you are trying to get across. For now on, I'll keep in mind that Lethal Damage is a last resort, rather than something to fall upon when situation only appears dire. You have my word on that. I'm prepared to resort to it in the future, however, if anything should befall either you, Nathan, Valder, or any of our Pokémon. I hope you are prepared for that, if a situation calls upon such force, Reshirim forbid," Ventus solemnly said, taking to heart Shiva advice. He didn't want to disappoint her like this again, not unless it was unavoidable.

"Now that this small fiasco has passed, let's go meet up with Valder, my friends!"

Wow. And Nathan had thought he'd received a lashing from her before...that was nothing compared to what had happened just now. That Screech might have also been aimed at Shiva, but MAN, it was LOUD! He and Kirlia were even reeling from it!

"Oof...yeah, we should probably go do that...before we're accused of disturbing the peace or something...you okay, Kirlia?"

Nathan looks over at Kirlia, and finds the psychic pokemon has been totally floored by that series of events!

Nathan quickly helps him get up, needless to say. "Maybe you should take a break for now...you look worn out, buddy." Kirlia just nods, too exhausted to really argue. Nathan recalls Kirlia for a little while after that confirmation.

Ventus goes into town with Noibat, insisting the Pokemon is not allowed to Frisk any shopkeepers! Since it's always autumn in the Fireweed Forest, there are nice rosy apples for sale for $15 a basket. Determined to stay on Lucifer's good side, Ventus buys a basket of apples!

He also finds a job using Corsola to scrub windows and makes $250. His business is called Windows Lord.

(Alright, I got away from that sticky situation, so I should be fine to roleplay now. Thanks for the support, guys! It really means a lot! Also, I'll give Valder my last Potion, if you decide to use one on Gastly in its fight against Yanmega. Fair is Fair!)

Once he and his friends arrived to see that Valder and Diamaggio (If he recalls correctly) were still in embroiled in battle, so the researcher told Nathan and Shiva that they were going to the market to buy some apples for Lucifer, and he would be back by the time the fight was over.  'I want to get my little devil an incentive for good behavior, as well as to bond with it even more. The Niobat line is know for its love of fruit, so this should please my gold seeker to no end!" Ventus thought, finding a delicious bussel of apples for $15 ! Even a single apple of half this quality cost at least a couple of Pokedollars in Castilia City, so to get this many for that price was an absolute steal in his book!

After he his purchase, he let Ariel out to apologize for his poor performance as his master, and narrowly dodged a Bubble from her in response! The suds impacted the window behind it, bursting and completely cleaning it from all the filth and grim that accumulated on it. Moments later, the owner of the store came out and, instead of yelling at him for Corsola attacking his place of business, offered him $250 to clean the rest of them! Thus, his own business, "Windows Lord", begun that day, giving him a new source of income to both pay off his debt AND help improves society as much as possible!

By the time he was done with his task and had returned to the group, Valder and his now badly wounded Ghastly was STILL fighting that beast of an Yanmega. Deciding that a little encouragement was in order, he shouted : "Valder, use a Potion on Ghastly, and continue to fight with all you got! I'll reimburse you for it, so do whatever it takes to succeed in this conflict!"

I don't see why Valder would turn down a deal like that, so why don't I continue the battle?

Excited to see that his mercenary snatch victory from Yanmega's powerful jaws, Ventus walked over to him and gave them a firm clap on the back in congratulation, while handing them a potion! "Excellent show of strength, Valder! Consider this Potion another down payment as my mercenary, and as a way to continue doing your duty, no matter how dire the situation may be! Ghastly, would you like an apple as a treat for a job well done too?" he said, offering an apple to the specter in question.

Lucifer, seeing an Apple being handed out, looked up mournfully at his master, clearly desiring to have a tasty treat himself! Chuckling good naturedly, Ven used his other hand to palm an apple, and handed to the hungry Niobat, who cheered right back up and it nommed on the fruit of sin! Forget gold (for a moment), this red jewel is the center of his world now!
