[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

Pokeball: (3)(6)
Comite's Will: (2) after penalties.

The ball stops shaking quickly, and the seal flashes green to confirm a capture.

Comite was caught!

Shiva, of course, doesn't even know this name until she rejoins Nathan. Nathan knows little about the Tandor Pokemon other than the name implying its galactic origin, and that the Pokemon evolves twice into Cometeor and Astronite. He's never even seen pictures of an Astronite, nor does he know how to obtain one.

Azurill is somewhat interested in this catching process. She shares a rare, shy smile with Shiva. Minutes later, though, she's sad again as normal.

(Not sure about rolling once for all opponents since moves can still hit and crit one pokemon but miss the other target completely in the games)

Nathan rolls his eyes at the Insomnia comment. 'Of course she wouldn't sleep with you lot around...guess I underestimted them a little, though. Let's see how they handle the incoming barrage.'

"Thank you, Porygon, you did a spectacular job. Now get back over here and get rid of that burn. You've earned some good rest. Now then, I hope you're feeling a little better now, buddy..." Nathan recalls Porygon, not wanting to put the digital pokemon at risk of fainting due to the burn. Then he pulls out the premier ball, and sends out Kirlia! "Kirlia, it's go time! Remember these two from a couple months ago? It's time we showed them our strength! Use Confusion on Wingull! Swiftfire, evade any incoming Water moves, then blast Skiddo with Embers!"

Swiftfire
Order: Evade the incoming Water move, then blast Skiddo with as many Embers as possible. She needs to stay in this for as long as possible! If Wingull doesn't use a damaging Water move, use one more Ember in addition to the rest!
Accuracy: 4 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 1 Canalize - 2/3/4/5 Multiple Actions - 1 pain = 4/3/2/1 D6
Evade: 4 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 0 Evade - 2 Multiple Actions - 1 Pain = 3 D6
Damage: 2 Power + 2 Strength + 1 STAB + 1 SE -3 Vitality = 2 D6 + 1
Effect: Burn 1 (1)

Kirlia
Ability: Trace copies one of the opponent's abilities!
Order: Maximum Confusions on Wingull!
Accuracy: 3 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 1 Canalize - 2/3/4/5 Multiple actions = 4/3/2/1 D6
Damage: 2 Strength + 2 Power + 1 STAB + 1 Pink Pearl - 3 Vitality = 3 D6
Effect: Confusion (1)

Pause Conditions: Kirlia reaches -2 or -3 Pain, or something changes the flow of the battle significantly. Swiftfire will also be withdrawn at the end of the round if she reaches 2 HP, immediately if she hits 1, since she's seeded and at risk of getting KOed if she stays in any longer, and Nathan wants to save his potions if possible.

... Successful catch. Feels good, Shiva only now noticed that she was unconsciously holding breath until the seal flashed green. It was something different than acquirering a Pokemon like she did with her Electric rodents and Fennekin.

She came over, picked up the ball containing the weird rocklike Pokemon, stared at it for a few moments... and sent it to Bill's PC. Before she'll call the creature out for a first contact with its new Master, she wished to know what it actually is. Only thing she was sure about is that it MUST be a real Pokemon, she never saw something similar and that is almost certainly Rock-Type. It also displayed knowing Confusion, was is part Psychic-Type? Hmm... Maybe Dad knew more (doubtful? GM's decision), and Nathan had a Pokedex on hand, so there's that.

By the way, if she didn't want to be left behind, she should get herself going... Just as Shiva has withdrawn Minun - not after thanking the rodent for her effort - as well as Fennekin - lil' fox has coiled himself up for a rest while his owner was busy battling and catching - , Azurill...smiled at her... Just for short, but the small mouse smiled at her owner from the top hat up, although she was slightly hurt from the battle.

Shiva did not say a word to comment this. Instead, she just returned the smile and brought Azurill closer to her before continuing following the path:

Ariel held nothing back as she lauched yet another Bubble at Ronin Spearow, sending it the drenched bird flying so far back that it impacted a tree behind it, and was just plain knocked right out. Elated that she finally scored a decisive victory against an opponent, the Corsola let out a particularly nasty crackle, savoring the feeling of it all. That'll teach the stupid crow from messing with her master; that was her prerogative, no one elses!

Sweat dropping at Ariel's more wicked side being displayed, Ventus just shook his head and let out a sigh, before walking over and relieving the Ronin of his Sticks. "Hmm...they are not worth much on the open market, but if I find the right resturaunt shop I should get a better price for them. Bar that, they should certainly be used to make some tasty food for my Pokémon, so these Sticks will be put to a good use regardless," Ventus said to himself, stowing away his prizes before turning to leave. However, the researcher briefly hesitated, before letting out another sigh, and reaching into his bag, pulling out the large Chef's Knife he nicked earlier.

"While I would love to have used this for my own protect, now its far more liable to get me into trouble with the league and my friend. I'll leave this here for this Ronin to use, as payment for robbing them blind of their bounty. Hopefully, with their mastery of their former weapons, they'll be able to put this knife to good use," he said, laying the knife in on of the bird's wings, before finally departing with Ariel back to the group. The living coral mass gave a questioning look at her master's decision, but ultimately didn't raise much fuss about it. She didn't care what he did with his own items, and if it came back to bite him in the kiester, then that is his fault!

On his journey back to the group, Lucifer returned to perch on his shoulders, with a apple already in his grasps. Bemused by the fact that he already found a treat to snack on, he just scratch them behind the ears again at their resourcefulness. 'At the very least, my little devil can feed himself, or bring back food to the party if rations get scarce. I doubt will that will be a concern, but it always pays to have a backup plan!' Crossing past a bush, he stopped for a moment, spotting something in its leafy depths. Curiosity aroused, he reached in, intent on retrieving the object for himself!

Order: Got sticks, then gave the knocked out Spearow my knife to replace those, and going to retrieve that Trainer Item! Hope its a good one!

Riff and Raff Round 4

Kirlia's Trace became Water Absorb.

Water Pulse
(6)(3)(6)(2)(1)(1)(3) Just one success to be evaded.
Evasion: (4)(1)(2) Swiftfire dodges out of the way.

Nathan, you made the same mistake as Windos on your multiple actions. The first penalty is always the number of actions you make, and subsequent penalties increase by one. You can make 3 actions at -3/-4/-5 before you run out of dice at full health.

Confusion
6 dice, -3 actions = 3 dice.
(4)(4)(4) Hit
(4)(5)(3) Wingull takes 2 damage. 4/6hp -1
Conf: (6) Wingull is confused

Wingull ducks beneath Skiddo as the goat's fur launches outward in a flurry of razor leaves.

Razor Leaf
(5)(3)(5)(3)(5)(5) Critical hit. I am asking on the forum if you should roll multiple times or just once. For now, just once because simplicity trumps all.
3 dice, -1 dmg to Ponyta.
(4)(5)(4) Kirlia takes 3 damage. 4/7 -1pain. Ponyta takes 2 damage. 2/6hp -2 pain.

Ember
7 dice, -2 pain, -3 multiple = 2 dice
(1)(1) Miss

Confusion 2
6 dice, -4 actions, -1 pain = 1 dice
(2) Miss.

Not enough dice for another Confusion.

Leeching: (6) Ponyta is withdrawn

Don't forget Porygon is burned. Survival check: (3)(6)(1)(1) No successes. Nathan can use his trainer action to try to put it out next round, accumulating double the dice.
Vitality: (6) Porygon takes no damage.

Ventus heads off to poke around in some bushes. Shiva catches up several minutes later, and comes across the fainted Spearow, a knife lain in the pinions of one wing. The little bird is completely drenched in water.

Huh... Almost didn't realize, too concentrated on the path and keeping hold of lil' Azurill... But, now with a closer look, it was indeed a Spearow. It looked defeated. Fainted. Upon croaching down to chekc for any vital signs, the bird felt warm - it's alive, thank Arceus! - but... the whole plumage was wet...

What the hell was wrong with this Spearow?

Just then she noticed something shiny lying in one wing... ... ... Ehm... Weird. Just plan weird. And a little scary. Was this part of some sick ritual or something? Or some ill shenanigans?

Whatever it was, Shiva could not just pass and move on. Carefully, she picked up the drensched Spearow, wrapped it into the souvenir towel they gave at the Treehouse Resort just before Wineberry Town and took it with her as she continued following the path in the hope to catch up with the others. That knife... she wrapped it in a tissue and placed it into bagpack. Not going to leave such a thing laying freely around in nature.

Spearow won't recover for at least 8 hours, and after that it will still be too weak to battle. So no need to fear that knife.

(I could use the Revive on Spearow... But I don't want to. I'll have it healed up in Corsage's Pokemon Center as soon as we arrive there.)

(dang it, changes between the old and new versions of the core book!  Oh well, the old version of multiple actions does make just a tad bit more sense for a forum based game since it doesn't interrupt the flow as much...)

'Grrrr...definitely underestimated them.  Hmmm...what to do...1 pokemon down, 2 if I don't extinguish that burn now...'  Nathan has to think very carefully about his next move...he thinks he's got a plan though.  The twins would never let him live this down if they beat him...

"Good job, Swiftfire.  You're out of this fight now, unfortunately.  Great job out there."  Nathan recalls her into her pokeball to cut off the flow of the Leech Seed at long last.  "Alright, Princess, you're up!  Use Gust twice on Wingull!  I know it's another flying type, but Kirlia's got your back!  Kirlia, keep using Confusion!"  Meanwhile, Nathan helps Porygon extinguish the burn.  With a Full Heal.  Then follows it up with a Potion the next round to get the duck back into fighting shape.  "You're not out of this yet, friend.  Let's show 'em what we're made of."

Kirlia
Action 1: Use Confusion twice on Wingull.  Attack Skiddo instead if Wingull is withdrawn.
Accuracy: 3 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 1 Canalize - 2/3 Actions - 1 Pain = 3/2 D6
Damage: 2 Power + 2 Strength + 1 STAB + 1 Pink Pearl -3 Vitality = 3 D6
Effect: Confusion (1)

Princess
Order: Use Gust twice on Wingull.  Attack Skiddo instead if Wingull is withdrawn.
Accuracy: 3 Dexterity + 2 Fight + 1 Canalize - 2/3 Actions = 4/3D6
Damage: 2 Power + 2 Strength + 1 STAB - 3 Vitality = 2 D6
