Sage, after conversing with Officer Jenny and agreeing on a fee, went through the forest; thinking of finding the group. Now pushing through the undergrowth he reach forward to find a Bulbasoar lying in slumber. Immediately the grass Pokemon woke up assumed a defensive stance. After the creature shifted Sage noticed an orb like object resting under its paws. Sage lunged for but the wild Pokemon used Vinewhip pushing Sage back. Trying a new tactic Sage thought he might catch the Pokemon and then obtain the orb. Reaching in bag, while still keeping an eye on the plant, he pulled out Rufflet's PokeBall and an empty one. He then released the Rufflet from it's small home.
Orders: Have Rufflet use Aerial Ace until the Bulbasoar is in a catching state.

(What is a 'Catching State' to you? The more you beat Bulbasaur up, the less it will like you. At a PainPenalization of -2, Happiness and Loyality will both be zero - it will still obey orders though.)

Bulbasaur uses a vine to tuck the orb up under her belly. She keeps it wrapped there, using the utmost care. Then she launches herself at Sage in a full body attack, not taking any care at all! She seems defensive about something!
Take Down

Bulbasuar winds up for another no-holds-barred Take Down, determined to drive off this invader. As she shifts, you see that she has an Egg lashed to her underside! The egg is much the same color as Bulbasaur herself.
Sage uses a Pokeball.

Bulbasaur has 7 Will, -2 pain = 5 dice
(4)(1)(1)(4)(5) That's 2 successes also, so the ball is not broken but Bulbasaur escapes.

Sage's Pokeball can capture the Egg since I'm treating it as a held item for now. Later it will need to be moved to an Incubator.

Bulbasaur's Happiness and Loyalty will be 0, but they may grow quickly if you treat the egg well. And if any trainer knows how to raise an Egg, it's probably Sage. Disobedience is 0, for Bulbasaur is the easiest to raise of the starters.
Bulbasaur knows Tackle, Vine Whip, Poison Powder, and Take Down. His ability is Overgrow, which doesn't help you when you mostly use Take Down.
His base HP is 3, +1 for Sage's Vitality so 4 in total.

Nathan turns around after applying the potion to Porygon just in time to see Kirlia take a Water Pulse head on!
...and not flinch at all from it? What? He looks...fine...what?
The water swirls around Kirlia instead, glowing with a faint green light before promptly disappearing entirely. 'Was that...Water Absorb? Kirlia must have traced that ability...but from what? Skiddo and Wingull don't usually have that ability at all from what I remember...'
Raff's comment on typings brings him back to reality. There'd be time to ponder that in a moment. Right now, there was a battle to win.
'None of the types they're prepared for...right...seems to me they were plenty prepared for 2/3 of my team with just two pokemon...I need to seriously shore up their weaknesses somehow...' It's only a fleeting thought right now, but not one he'll forget. That Mega Pinsir had shown him how vulnerable his pokemon were to flying types, and this Blitzle was going to cause him some trouble too, just thinking about what was on his team...
