[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Shoot.

Shoot shoot shoot shoot.

This was bad. That last Crunch had really messed up Kirlia's arm. He needed to get Kirlia some proper healing, ASAP.

But first...

That rat was going to pay.

He turns to look at the KOed Rattata. Kirlia looks really worried...and Nathan looks REALLY angry.

Shiva sees his expression, and says his name fearfully, warningly.

Oh, right, Shiva's there.

He's still angrily staring at Rattata.

"What?" The anger is even clear in his voice.

Shiva eagerly tries to convince Nathan to move on.

"Don't do anything you'll regret later! Remember how I moved on after Weezing endangered Plusle's life. There is no point to forcefully taking the rat's life, even if it used lethal attacks, if that's what you're contemplating. It acted according to its nature."

Cottonee worms her way into Shiva's arms, and receives soothing strokes.

Shiva also drops Azurill into the top hat where she can't see the conversation, and covers her with a thick cloak or something.

Weezing...back on route 01...the memories of that are still clear in his mind.  The damage plusle had sustained.  The worry both he and Shiva had felt...

The mess that was what was left of Weezing after Ventus let Aspis tear into it in a blind rage...

Nathan gives a sideways glance at Shiva.  She looks...scared?  Worried?  He looks at Kirlia next...the same thing.  Kirlia lets out a soft Growl, as if to say 'Nathan, stop.'

It was the same type of Growl he'd heard back when he'd first found Ralts a year ago...one filled with sadness, worry, fear...

The memories come flooding back.

The rain, the almost unrecognizable form of a Ralts as he rushed back to the Center in Trillium, the intimidating gaze of that Absol he'd seen on the way back, the worry he'd felt as he wondered if the little guy was going to make it...

He'd do anything to protect him, keep him from suffering that much ever again.

But would that include killing?

Was he really willing to do that?

Was it even needed?

...

...

...

His anger deflates as quickly as it had come.  He looks down.  And sobs can be heard.

He doesn't want to do it.  He doesn't.

That wasn't him.  Why would he even consider that in the first place?

He knows why...but it just...it wasn't...him...

He hugs Kirlia.  Carefully, so as not to further harm the arm now in a makeshift sling.  He's still sobbing.

What made him any better than Aspis if he'd been intending to do the EXACT same thing to this Rattata?

(The Weezing encounter is exactly what needed to be brought up to give Nathan pause.  This scenario is far from over, though.  There's still more that needs to be discussed between Shiva and Nathan.  She might find it odd how he reacted to this Rattata using Crunch given she knows how he immediately reacted to Weezing's Self Destruct...and then there's the matter of Rattata itself, too.)

(Well, that went the other way I was expecting it to. Since this really doesn't change anything at all with my original post, @Iron can just restore that one right now! Otherwise, I'll have to retype it from memory : - P )

(That's only if Iron says he gets there in time for this.  And if Ventus shows up, Nathan WILL react to it before too much happens.)

(Alrighty, then I'll just edit that post where Ven says that he's going to kill it, without going to do it. Nathan will have to chance to stop/reason with him then. Unless you want to delay Ventus with meta-ly by having him move the body itself. That will work...for a very limited amount of time.)

Shiva says "Thanks, Nathan. This is the right choice."

She picks up the Rattata and wanders way off into the jungle and drops it there. "Don't you dare come back!"

Then she goes to give Azurill a bath in the Great River, trying to soothe it about its Water Gun not working.

Nathan, you and Shiva can discuss things either on the trip to the river, or sometime after Ventus shows up. That will determine whether Ventus discovers the rat on his own by following the blood trail with his high Survival, or if Nathan informs him about the encounter.

I think this preserves the spirit of what Shiva wanted to do, and this way Nathan can interact with whomever he pleases, and Ventus will end up at the Rattata (with or without Nathan along - that's up to him.)

As soon as Nathan decides what to do, Ventus can arrive.

(Looks like I will have to remake this whole post. Dang it. Oh well, looks like its a hunting trip yet again! I still want my old post PM to me, so I don't have to start completely from scratch...)
