And I'm sure Iron has something planned to help make up for the difference.

Good thing tearing into the whole pack is exactly what Nathan has in mind right now. Not lethally, but he's thinking mostly along the same lines.

Also, the Houndoom is holding a mega stone (which I'm obviously VERY interested in obtaining)...wonder how it's using it without a trainer's help, though...hmmm...

Well, there might be some logic to hold on to, still.

In the Genesect VS Mewtwo Movie, Mewtwo can Mega Evolve without a Trainer's help.  Maybe it's a special trait for exceedingly powerful psychic types?

Of course, nobody is going to know that in-character.

Ventus is going to kill every Houndour that faints, and will ignore a Nathan's plea for him to stop.

You know, Windos, somehow I'm glad that the knife is currently in my possession.
Though, you could have tried to get your hands on a nice sharp piece of broken glass from the other cage to instant-stab them. ^^

You know, if you hadn't said anything, Ventus would have saved killing them all for AFTER the fight, but now he going to do it during it so that Nate would not be able to easily stop him without risking harm to him and Shiva. He won't stop you from snatching the Mega Stone though, so there is that.

In Ven's state of mind and what he knows about Nathan, 'Not yet' sounds more like 'Not ever.' That, and I missed those keywords myself, so Ventus got all gang ho for no reason...
