Nathan's mind is in a whirl right now.  If they could work together to do this...hmmm...Chuckles would use 3 pokemon...they'd get 4 total between them with 2 shared substitutions, but would lose if 3 of their 4 pokemon fainted...special item rules...

This...this could be a good thing...and he had an idea for how to take advantage of that...

"Yeah...a double battle would be fantastic, Ven...that's actually a pretty good idea you have there...don't know why I didn't think of that myself..."

Kirlia is rather creeped out by the atmosphere too, but lightens up considerably as he realizes what Nathan's planning.  Their odds of achieving victory are looking much more reasonable now...

The butler comes back. "Mr. Chuckles will see you within an hour. He sent a note explaining his special item rules. He is resting, but he says he is feeling fine today."

The note is printed on stiff homemade paper, like a fancy invitation. It's dark gray with golden lettering. It quickly welcomes you to the Gym, then gets to the heart of its message.

Each pair of challengers gets to pick and provide one item, which is placed on the floating candelabra in the Battle Room. Trainers may access either of the two items whenever they wish. The catch is this: Chuckles has access to a copy of each item for his own use. If a copy of the item cannot be found, Chuckles gets to choose whatever item he wishes in its place.

Held items do not count against this limit. Mr. Chuckles may also use held items. No one may change a held item once battle begins.

"If you have any questions, request help from the attendee in the Parlor. --C"

Shiva awaited the others departure before she carefully petted not so little Raphael. Somehow, she could remember when he was a Togepi , it was amazing to see how much has has grown thanks to his Master.

"So, Raphael, lets depart as well, shall we? The city's somewhat different, it's not that oppressive anymore for some reason." ... "Hmm? Oh, yeah this Azurill belongs to me."

Mechanics:
@Iron, since I will not use Raphael in a battle and he's traveling with me outside of his Pokeball (Ven only gave me Togekiss himself, not the ball), there is no need to for ne place one of my six Pokemon onto PC, is it?

Apsis , picking up on her master 's good mood , slither over to them to see what provoked such a change . As she got closer to Nathan , she stopped in her trail as she detected the faint oder of ... meat ? Flicking her tounge a few more times , she was now certain that boy had good on thier person , but where is he storing it ?

Moving closer to the young trainer , she cranked he head down and looked inquisitively at them , before letting out what sounded like a curious *Hisssss?* . Well , as curious as it could possibly sound .

As she got closer to Nathan , she stopped in her trail as she detected the faint oder of ... meat ? Flicking her tounge a few more times , she was now certain that boy had good on thier person , but where is he storing it ?

Moving closer to the young trainer , she cranked he head down and looked inquisitively at them , before letting out what sounded like a curious *Hisssss?* . Well , as curious as it could possibly sound .

He turns to look at Ventus.  "You might want to make sure your snake stays focused, Ven.  Can't have her getting distracted, after all.  That'd end poorly for everyone."

The researcher just places a hand across his mouthe as he giggled at his massive snake trying to give Nathan Baby Doll Eyes for a treat . " Apsis always focuses on potential threats first before sating her appetite , so she won't get distracted mid battle by your... aroma . She won't leave you be until you give her snack until then , so ... " he said , trailing off meaningfully as he stopped his laughter .

Apsis , for her part , was now softy sniffling the young 's person , tickling his body with the puff of breath from her snot . She finally pinpointed where the meaty smell was Comming from , and started to nudge his bag a bit , before staring imploriby at him . * Hiiiiiisssss .... θ ; ; θ *
