Hmmm...that was an interesting look in their eyes...well, at least he was rather competent at fighting from years of practice.  Did he expect to win, though?  Not really.

Just him and the merchant now.  He was expecting them to be faster and stronger than they looked, obviously.  That kind of business was dangerous work, after all.  Time to see how much he could remember of hand to hand combat...it'd been awhile since he'd practiced it too, after all...since he wasn't expecting to go first and needed every advantage he could get against what was probably a stronger foe, he'd start with trying to knock them over, then landing some basic punches.  There probably wasn't much else he could do in this situation, anyways...

Knockdown
Accuracy: 2 Dex + 4 Fight + 1 Brawl - 3 Actions = 4 D6
Damage: 0 Power + 3 Strength = 3 D6 Base (probably going to be reduced to the minimum of 1 though)
Effect: Foe falls over if the move hits.  Either they spend an action to get up or suffer a -1 Accuracy penalty while grounded.

Strike x2
Accuracy: 2 Dex + 4 Fight + 1 Brawl - 4/5 Actions = 3/2 D6
Damage: 1 Power + 3 Strength = 4 D6 base (also probably going to be reduced to the minimum of 1)

"Go." Quicker than your eye can follow, the Merchant just appeared right in front of you, and lands two quick blows in succession before you could even react.

The now reveled to be deadly fighter just chuckles and crouches down over to you, amusement quite apparent in there eyes. "I believe I am right to assume I won this spar of ours, unless you want me to patch you up and let you land a couple of blows on me? Well, try to, anyway, hehehe..."

"Oof...ow...yeah, you won alright...good gravy, you're strong, and much less rusty than I am...yeah, I'd appreciate a patch job and a couple practice throws, if you wouldn't mind...can't learn too much if I'm just floored instantly, after all..."

The Merchant just shakes the head amusingly at Reiner, before pulling out a Hyper Potion and injectioning you with its contents. Ahhh...that felt much better. "Hehehe, you have guts , stranga, but I can respect someone that keeps on fighting. Tell you what, I'll let you get some hits on me, just to make things even between us. Wouldn't want my best customer to resent me, eh?"

As promised, they took a few steps back and let you wail on them for a bit

Damage: 4D6 - Vitality (1) - Heavy Duty Body Armor ( + 4 Defense, -1 Damage to Physical Attacks) =  1D6 - 1
(-) You land your Strike solidly into their chest....and immediantly retract your fist, feeling lancing pain shot straight up your arm. By the Dragons, it was like punching a brick wall!

You land your other two blows once the sensation started to numbed, this time taking care to brace yourself for each impact. Predictably, they did utterly nothing to the now quite terrifying sales person, other than chuckle at each blow. "Hehehe, I see you discovered my other surprise: Military Guard Steel Plate Blast Armor. I can be standing right on a pipe bomb, and suffer nothing more than some singed clothing. I can sell it to you, if you are interest, but it will cost you $15000 Poke. Protection this good doesn't come cheap or easy, stranga."

For being a punching bag of the Merchant, you gain 4 XP , as well as the knowledge of an especially powerful piece of equipment. What do you now?

Custom Items: Heavy Duty Body Armor
Cost: Civilians are not usually permited to own such gear, so do the math yourself.
Use: Add 4 Defense score to your character, Grants the user pseudo Bulletproof , and the user is immune to Self Destruct, Explosion, and OHKO Moves. Also can be used to evolve Rhydon with....interesting results. If the users has less than 5 STR, however, they are effectively encumbered, reducing their DEX for each point they are below that threshold. (EX: You would currently have a -2 DEX Penalty if you tried to wear it now)

Reiner takes a step back.  "Whew...never thought I'd be floored that quickly..."  He takes out the Carbos and uses it as a bit of a refresher.  Well, at least that practice, however brief, seems to have helped him become just a little more limber.  (Dex leveled to 3 for 10 EXP!  Specialty will have to come later.)

"Yup, I knew you were tougher than ya looked.  You could go toe-to-toe with most pokemon with skills and equipment like that.  Thanks for entertaining the request, however foolish it was.  Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got somewhere I need to be.  Once again, thank you for your assistance."

Time to get ready for the battle with Mew! It is time for that, right?

(Yes, it is. Prepare thyselves.)

The Merchant nodded their head, pleased that they had not managed to offend their (current) favorite customer, and by the fact that they are still fast and fierce as ever. "Hehahe....never pot moch stuck in Pokémon prutecting me and my weres adequately, su Ai learned huw tu defend myself, and rigorously treined until I culd knock out eh Tarous in one hit. Human strength end ingenuity will elweys triumph over tha wild puwer uf Pokémon; its why we ere in top of tha fud chein, stranga!" Looks like their thick accent is slurring their words once more, but you are used to their voice by now. You depart from the Merchant's company, and began making your to the vague location specified by Mew for the battle.

Even with little to go on, you feel the strangest sensation tugging at your mind, guiding Reiner and his group toward the location of his destined battle with the divine being.

Your cat burgleirs appear to be enraptured by the same feeling as you do, since they almost totally botched the Slip and Go run with an especially savvy Ace Trainer. They manage to just barely escape the woman's field of view and attension as she looked wildly around for what attack them, send out her Hitmolee and Hitmotop as extra protection and search assistants. Snapped out of your daze, you three beat a hasty retreat before you can be caught. Close call!

15 minutes later, you all arrive at a wide, open, and clear field about a kilometer away from the center or other people, pulled here by that tiggling sensation. As soon you arrived, a familiar pink cat appear right in front of you: Mew!

A thought popped into your at just the same time, restoring you strangely...comforting connection to the Legendary: You are here! I thought for a moment you would listen to that spoil sport Persain of yours, but I'm sure glad you didn't! Saves me the trouble of teleporting you here, and I don't think we both want to see you lose your lunch because of that! Alright, let me set up the network between all your Pokémon..........done! You are all connected now, ready to fight together as one! I'll let you release all your Pokémon and make your pre-battle preparations, before we start. After all, this may be the greatest battle you'll ever have in your life, and I don't want you to fail just because I didn't give you the time you need! I may be holding back, but I'm still going to try me best to win now, hmm~

When the psychic link is set up, Reiner gets to work with a good ol' pep talk!  'Alright gang, this is it.  One of the hardest battles we'll have participated in to date.  Even if we only get halfway through it, know that I'm proud of and thankful for all of you coming this far with me.  Felicia, I know you're mostly just tagging along right now, but I want to thank you for giving me a chance as well.  Now, every single one of us has an important part to play here.  We do everything right and maybe even get a little lucky, and we just might have a shot at winning.  Now let's show Mew that none of  us are pushovers."

Mew left you alone for your motivational speech, hover across the large open field to their side of the upcoming battlefield. From what you can tell, they seem....oddly eager to fight you, despite the fact that they could telekinetically send each and everyone into lower orbit...where Raquaza would most like gobble them up if they were not turned to ash from the friction. I guess it goes to show that even Legendaries are just as battle hungry as regular Pokémon, despite their godly statures...

As you gave your pep talk to everyone, each and everyone one of your comrades, whether they have been lifetime partners or just recently joined up on your crusade, responds in affirmation of your decree. Even Felicia!

Mew, for their part, we lazly hovering in place on her determined side of the field, until your whole group approach them to begin the fight. The divine cat perked up that, and you could feel a since of giddiness flowing through you as you watch it smile deviously at you. A final though, just before the battle between the two mighty forces ensure: Are you ready, Reiner? If you aren't , to bad, there nothing stopping me from having fun now! Let the fight....begin!!!
