[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Ventus head snaped towards the offending spirit the moment he heard its crackle resound in his head, and let out a hiss that would make his Arbok blush in pride. "Get out of my mind. I know of several exorcisim rites and purification chant that do wonders for Ghost types like you, so I suggestion you head my warning, or else. " the researcher spat out at the offending spirit, all traces of his former worry and good cheer obliterated. He expected Chuckles Pokémon to play tricks and try to scare him, but he will not tolerate these spirit to mess or enter his mind what so ever! Apsis, incensed of the Ghost's trespasses against her master and taunting her like so, Leered at all the targets on the battlefield, before lunging to savage that Gengar with a Bite!

Orders: Have Apsis use Leer to lower the Defense of all opponents of the field, before using Bite on Gengar. If either Ghost Taunts her before she can get of Leer, however, she will use another Bite attack in its place instead of wasting her action. Let us get this party started!

Moves:

Leer
Accuracy: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Intimidate (1) - 2 Actioin = 3D6 Dice
Effect: Lower all opponent's Defense by 1

Bite
Accuracy: DEX (2) + Fight (2) + Brawl (2) - 2/3 Actions = 4D6 (If the one of the Ghosts Taunt), and 3D6 (First Bite Attack of round Accu regardless of Taunt)
Damage: STR (2) + 2 + SE - Vitality (?) = [4D6 - ?] + 1 Damage
Effect: *Flitch 3*

The cruise ship turns out to be the SS Mantine - a Mantine-shaped ship complete with Remoraid engines. The entire foredeck is enclosed in a big transparent bubble. Bellossom dance around the sides, circling and circling. They orbit themselves, they orbit each other, and they orbit the dome.

It looks like it costs $250 to spend just a couple hours there, but there's no doubt the ship is brighter and sunnier than the rest of Corsage. They also have a pool and a hot tub on other decks. There's a banquet hall too, for people and their Pokemon, but that costs extra.

Gym Leader Chuckles Round 1

Banette swoops in on Grid and phases right through him. Grid shudders, and Banette carelessly tosses the Chesto Berry down onto the floor. It falls between the slats and sinks.

Knock Off
4 Dex +3 Fight +2 brawl -2 actions = 7 dice
(2)(1)(4)(6)(3)(1)(5) Hit
3 Str + 2 power - 3 vit = 2 dice, reduced by 1 due to cover.
(1) No damage
Grid loses the Chesto Berry.
Arbok takes 1 damage. 13/14hp.

Gengar was waiting for this moment. He waggles his spectral fingers back and forth like a Clefairy, but this is not Metronome. Look out...it's Hypnosis!

Hypnosis
4 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Allure -4 accuracy -2 actions = 3 dice
(4)(4)(1)
Grid falls asleep!

Mr. Chuckles eyes you seriously as a silver chandelier floats over to Nathan. "Hm...will you be using one of your precious healing items already?"

After asking around a little, Shiva ended up in front of the cruise ship titled “SS Mantine“. Haha, what a fitting name... But the atmosphere here was clearly different. No mist, no hints on gloom, no women waiting endlessly for their husbands and sons to return from open seas. Aww, the others can take their time on their Gym Battle in a creepy mansion while she would be here... What a contrast.

After paying 250$ as a fey spend some hours on deck without hestitation – she still had enough money for the Breeder's Lisence - she walked around on deck a little without a particular aim. She just enjoyed it here. Upper class and a sparing sprinkle of luxury, that hit her taste and lighted her heart from issues and problems a little... Back at home among her father, the raising of Pokemon seemed so easy. Now, she had her own Pokemon that relied on her for food and care and expected her to raise them properly. Now, she also learned the hard way that raising the properly took its time. Although she felt that she was giving the caring for her Pokemon more priority than training them for battle and more care on the emotional level than, say, Nathan and Ven – okay, maybe around the same amount of care Ven gives them, with the difference that Shiva does not refer to her Pokemon as her siblings – it took her longer. Practically speaking, that's just due to the species of Pokemon she owns, both Fennekin and Abra are known for needing special conditions and care to evolve and Azu was just about to develope some confidence, but still Shiva couldn't deny that in weak moments – that hopefully will become rarer with the new meds – she was wondering what it was that she was doing wrong...

She settled down at a rather quiet corner a little away from the pool and the people, but still the sounds coming from there were audible if one would pay close attention. Raphael might enjoy staying here as well, and was allowed to fly around a little on free will after handing the purchases he was carrying back.

The warm rays of the sun were enjoyable and just not too bright to be painful for the eyes. Shiva was enjoying them somewhat, and called out both Cottonee and Fennekin to do the same. "So... Cottonee, we'll be spending a while here. Feel free to enjoy the sun, it's been a while since you were able to do something similar the last time. I'll just say here. You also see those Bellosom? They evolve with a Sun Stone... Just like you..." ... "You, Fennekin, might realise that the sun here powers up your Ember. Pay close attention to the warm feelings the sun gives you, one day you yourself will be able to summon the sun shining for us with a move called 'Sunny Day'... " Yeah, one glory day he'll also be a mage.

Speaking of the sun... One pill a day, huh? Well, why not start medication today... It took a little overcoming and a check whether none's around looking before she threw in the from now on daily dose of Vitamin D. Wondering how long she'll use them...

Mechanics:
From my side, battle may start now, please! I'll use Plusle, Minun, Cottonee and Kyuu. Is a wager of 400$ enough to receive around the same difficulty as the Riff and Raff Battle?

Nathan mirrors that serious look.  Without saying a word, he grabs the Awakening, gives it a twirl, and awakens Grid!  He hadn't brought it to leave it sitting there, after all!

'Of course he would think to do something like that...at least the cover seems to partially work...'

"Back on your feet, Grid.  No snoozing.  Show that Gengar we mean business.  If it tries to put you to sleep again, evade."

Whenever Hypnosis is used on him, Grid will attempt to Evade.

Gym Leader Chuckles Round 1 Continued

Electroweb
3 Dex +3 Fight +2 canalize +1 Compoundeyes = 9 dice -4 actions = 5 dice
(5)(1)(1)(1)(4) Barely a hit, on both Pokemon!
3 Str + 2 power +1 STAB -3 vit = 3 dice
(2)(1)(6) Gengar takes 1 damage and-1 dex. 7/8hp -1 dex
Banette takes 1 damage and -1 dex. 6/7hp -1 dex

Leer
(4)(6)(6)
-1 def to all opponents

Initiative order shifts! Now: Banette, Grid, Apsis, Gengar

Sparks fly up from within Apsis' coils, almost as if the snake is glowing a fiery red. Joltik leaps out of the coils, his fur awash in ethereal flames.

Will-o-Wisp
9 dice, -3 for another action, -1 dex, -3 move accuracy = 2 dice
(6)(5)
Grid is burned

Grid ducks back inside Apsis' loving embrace.

Electroweb 2
(2)(6)(4)(3)
Now 4 dmg dice, thanks to Leer
(5)(5)(5)(1) yikes! Gengar takes 3 damage. 4/8hp -2 pain -1 dex -1def
Banette takes 3 damage. 3/7hp -2 pain -1dex -1def

Bite
(6)(1)(2) Hit
2d6+1 dmg after Leer
(2)(1) Gengar takes 1 dmg 3/8hp -2 pain -1 dex -1 def
Flinch: (5)(2)(3)

The chandeliers and lanterns dim and the room goes dark for a moment. When the lights go on again, a few things have changed. The potion on the black chandelier has vanished. Gengar has shrunk to a tiny imp, wisps of shadowflesh drifting into the air (though his grin is unchanged), and a ghostly light flickers over Grid's body.

Curse
3* Dex + 3 Fight +2 canalize -3 actions = 5 dice
(2)(1)(4)(4)(3)
Gengar lays a Curse on Grid!
Dmg: Half hp as dice: (6)(2)(3)(3) Gengar takes 1 dmg 6/8hp  -1 pain -1 dex -1 def

(Reports of Curse lasting indefinitely are greatly exaggerated)

Electroweb 3
(4)(1)(5) + (1)(1) = 1 success
(2)(3)(6)(1) + (1)(1) No damage due to the Curse!

Electroweb 4

(5)(6) + (1)(1) = 1 success
(6)(1)(1)(3) + (1)(1) No damage again.

The ghost Pokemon are flourishing in the flickering neon environment from all the electrowebs.

Burn
Vitality: (5) That's one success. Grid resists the burn damage. Note for later reference - Curse should have been applied to this roll.

In the garden of the SS Mantine, a beautiful female sailor approaches Shiva. She wears a shining crown with a circular backplate, making it look like the sun is rising over her dark black hair and christening the flowers pinned there. Her attire is practical, mostly wraps wound tightly around her limbs, allowing free and dancing movement for her entire body.

She challenges Shiva to a Pokemon battle under the eternal sunshine of the Dome. "Two trainers enter, one trainer leaves! Ha! I kid. We gals have to keep ourselves tough, tough, tough if we want to keep up with the men! Or surpass them, in my case."

She sends out Victreebel and Cherrim! Sunlight immediately causes Cherrim to bloom brightly, her lovely pink radiance spreading over Victreebel's ugly expression.

Victreebel: (6) + 5* Dex + 0 survival = 11
Plusle: (1) + 5 = 6
Minun: (1) +5 = 6
Cherrim: (2) + 3 = 5

Thoroughtly unamused by the Ghost's status and vile antics, Ventus crosses his arms across his chest and scowls at the fiends and their masters. "So this is your strategy; make our Pokémon as feeble as your appear to be. Extremely effective, I admit, but its distastefulness ranks just as highly. *Sigh* I know more than most what Ghost types are capable of, though, so I guess the blame rest on me for not anticipating such tactics. Time to 'put to rest' that mistake of mine: Apsis, focus down Banette with multiple Bite attacks, before bearing down on Gengar. If they try to outmaneuver you to get at Grid, force them to fight you head on. I don't want that spider going down without a fierce struggle on their part."

Order: Have Apsis use Bite on Banatte twice per round, until its double dead (fainted) or something else particularly debilitating happens. If it falls after the first Bite, Arbok will transition the blow to Gengar instead. If either Pokémon try to target Grid directly, Apsis will force them to fight her when its possible. EX: If Banatte tries to circle around and use a Ghost move, Apsis will twirl around to intercept and strike back at them.

??? Round 1

It was a little...suprising to Shiva to be challenged to a battle here on the ship. At second glance, she should have known...

She couldn't help to call her now opponent absolutely beautiful. (Not speaking it out aloud, though) Her words caused to smile a little in bitterness and...sympathy. "Hehe... Tough is everything I seem not to be, I fear. But I feel like we're following the same desire of keeping up with the men, if not surpassing them... May I have your name before we battle?"

The sun was so bright by now, although Shiva got used to it... Wait a moment. If she's not mistaken, a Victreebel... Looks like THE opportunity to try it out. She called out her well-known Electric rodents, both blinked at the sunlight before realing that there were a cherry blossom and a giant fly catcher as the opponent. Eagerly, both rodents awaited orders to jump right into the fun!

"Both of you, there is no need to be afraid if the fly catcher and don't allow the sun to hinder you. Plusle, entertain us, and crown your performance with a ray of stars. You, Minun, please do what we both are good at - amazing the ones in front of us."

Accuracy Roll Entertainment: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 1 Perform - 2 Actions = 4 D6
Effect: Replaces Victreebel's Chlorophyll with Plus, gettind rid of the increased Dexterity.
Additional notes: Might change the Init order?

Accuracy Roll Swift: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 2 Channel -3 Actions = 4 D6
Damage Roll Swift: 4 Strength (2 on default, +2 due to Plus/Minus-ability triggered) + 2 Power of move = 6 D6
Additional notes: Hits both opponents.

Accuracy Roll Charm on Victreebel: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 2 Allure - 2 Action = 5 D6
Accuracy Roll Charm on Cherrim: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 2 Allure - 3 Action = 4 D6
Effect: Lowers opponent's Strength by 2.

Additional notes: I'll likely switch out next Round, and might send out Fennekin to accompany Kyuu instead of Cottonee.

'Hehe...wow, they weren't kidding when they said he doesn't pull his punches.  Maybe we should have gone with two Awakenings instead...however, we're just getting started...and even though he's used the potion now, that means we don't have to worry about it later...which is perfect.  He likely thinks Grid is the largest threat here if he focused all his efforts in the first turn on trying to prevent him from chewing through his pokemon.  Which almost happened, since Banette would be out of the fight if Gengar hadn't used Curse, but it'll likely be down soon enough.'

He nods at Ventus's order for Aspis to keep using Bite and continue covering Grid.  That's exactly what they needed to happen right now.  The faster they got through these first two pokemon, the better off they'd be.

"Grid, keep using Electroweb from the cover, though slow it down slightly.  I want you to keep doing as much damage to those Ghosts as you can, but with due caution.  If Banette happens to use Destiny Bond, Hold Back if you would KO it.  I want max damage if possible, but not if it comes at the expense of losing a valued team member to that move by accident."(We are still playing by 1 HP rules here, after all) Nathan's rather familiar with expert trainers' love for Destiny Bond Banette from his readings. Mostly when used by its Mega. *shudder*

3 Electrowebs per turn now!  Still a conditional Evasion should something try to put Grid to sleep as well.

Electroweb x3
Accuracy: 3 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Canalize - 1 Acc + 2 Compound Eyes - 3/4/5 Actions - 1 Curse = 6/5/4 D6 - 1 Success
Damage: 3 Strength + 2 Power + 1 STAB - 2* Defense - 1 Curse = 4 D6 - 1 Success (Hold Back if the attack would KO Banette and it's used Destiny Bond)

Evade (Only if something attempts to put Grid to Sleep.  Replaces an Electroweb action.)
Accuracy: 3 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Evasion - 3/4/5 D6 - 1 Curse =  5/4/3 D6 - 1 Success
