 "My name is Reiner Arendse.  Your name is Kyubi, and you've just woken up from a long slumber, so tell me, what do you remember?"

Kyubi's face scrunched up as she tried to recall anything in her to her mind, he head tilted downwards in thought of anything that could give her an idea of what was going on. "Pain, sharp and quick...then darkness. I remember being in a dark, empty place. I felt alone...empty there...like I was waiting for someone. It seemed like an eternity....I felt my mind fading away....my existence fading....until a light appear in front of me. I felt joy at seeing...the light for...some reason, and...and....urrrr....I felt like it was time to go. But the light...it didn't come with me. It enveloped me....and it felt like.....love and goodbye? Yes....it felt like both of those things....and regret. A lot of regret... Then the light disappeared, going inside of me, and I was scared because...because I thought I lost something precious, but...didn't at the same time. After that...things started to get...fuzzy....and I found myself here....feeling different...but the same. That's all I can remember...."

The kitsune looked back to you, their head tilted sideways as they looked a bit expectantly at you. "Does...that help you any? I'm...I'm sorry I can't recall much, but every time I try to think past further than that....it become blank and jumbly. Is that...normal? I...don't know what wrong...but is there anything I can do to help?" She then looked down at her body, then back at yours, and she looked even more confused now, if you could imagine. "Ummm...am I supposed to wear clothing? I feel comfortable right now, but should I have something on like you? It looks like I should, but I don't even know what is right anymore....*whimper*"

Reiner sighs.  Well, seems like she doesn't remember much of anything right now...he sits down in front of the kitsune.

"Yes, you were waiting for someone.  Someone who loved you enough to sacrifice himself to save you, even if it meant he had to endure the most horrible pain imaginable to do so."

He gives Kyubi a very, very sympathetic look.  "I do not know if the memory loss is 'normal,' but it's certainly a common symptom.  You died trying to protect him, and to resurrect you, Mew traded his life for yours and mixed your souls.  In a way, you did lose him, but in another, you did not since he is now literally a part of you.  I'm here to make sure that the sacrifice wasn't in vain."

At the question about clothes...

"...that's your decision to make.  I can have some brought for you if you wish, but you don't need to wear any if you don't want to."

Kyubi proceed all you side with wide eyes, curiousity and a touch of sorrow gleaming within their depths, before she looked at her chest and placed a hand over her heart. "I...died? That explains the pain and dark, scary place....but you said I died for someone, and that he suffered a painful death for me to live again? ...We must have meant a lot to each other, but I can't even remember who they were. All...all I know is that they loved me, and that I...I loved him too....but...but I don't know why exactly. I just do. Its like a comforting warmth deep down within me, as if it has always been there... He's gone, but he's a part of me, of that warm feeling....." she said, as she focused on that sensation for a moment, a look of sad contentment on her face, before she moved her away, moving it over to you as she clutched onto your shoulder for support.

Tears were beading in her eyes and began to trail down her furry face, but she had a look of determination that belayed the sorrow she was experiencing for the loved she lost, in both life and memory."....I may not know who he is, and possible never really learn what our life together was like, but if a Ninetales like was worth enough for him to....to give me another chance....then I must make sure to live a good life. For the both of us, so that he may rest easy within and without of me....*Sniff* *Whimper* But I don't know hardly anything useful that would make that possible. I...I know how to talk, some knowledge about the human world, how to hunt and what is good to eat, and how to battle, but...but without any memories I don't have any experience to apply all of. I....I need help. Someone to help me with the details, guide me so I do mess up and do something terrible. I need...I need a master, someone that can lead me so that doesn't happen. Since...since you are being so helpful and patient with my stupid issues, and you were a friend of my old one...would you be my new master?" the kitsunes said, her expression pleading and uncertain, and you could just feel how lost they were right now. Like a hiker without a maps, she doesn't seem to know which way to go in life, or how to really take care of themselves as they are now. Oh dear....

As for the matter of clothing, Kyubi thought about your request, before they nodded their head. Something about wearing it seems....right to her. Perhaps an old instinct leftover from her past, forgotten when she died and was resurrection?

Reiner nods, then shows her the Luxury Ball.  "Ah, so you do remember that you're a Ninetales.  Well, sort of one, anyways...not sure if we can simply classify you as that species now...regardless, Mew and I are the ones responsible for your current condition, and I'll help you adjust to your new form and keep you safe as best as I can, as I had promised for your previous master, and now promise for you.  Now, before I get you those clothes, would you mind if I test whether your pokeball still functions on you?  I can answer a few questions for you at a later point, but we should determine how we're going to avoid attracting unneeded attention first, and pokeball transport would be an easy solution if it still works."

The transformed Ninetales seemed a little befuddled by your words, tilting their to the side once more as they looked at you with more confused curiosity. "Um...have I not always been like this? I mean....are I not a Ninetales, shiny but otherwise the same as the rest of my kind? I don't remember what I was like before my death, but I feel like this body of my is normal, even if it seems a little strange at the same time..."


When you told her that you would be taking care of, she enveloped you a great big fluffy hug, quickly warming you up as the Fire types? natural heat and fur shielded you from the cold air. "Thank you, master! I promise that I won't be a burden to you, and keep you safe as long as we are together! Thank you!!! Oh, and sure you can use the Pokeball on me. Why do you think it wouldn't work, though...." That being said, you did re-call them to their Luxury Ball, and for a moment that seemed to be a success....when the device let out a *KKKrrrZZZZggggTTTT!* and starting spouting 'ERROR ERROR ERROR, UNKNOWN DNA MATCH/DOES NOT MATCH WITH DATASCAN. MEMORY CORRUTION AND HARDWARE MALFUCTIONING DETECTED. ABORT ABORT ABORT' in the holoscreen that popped up.

The ball then started to smoke and heat up, forcing you to drop it before your hand got burnt, and Kyubi was released with a "Oh!" coming from her, watching with you as the Pokeball kept smoking for a bit, crackling as its circuitry was fried from the kistune's recall. "....Was that supposed to happen, master? I don't think it should, but you might know better..." Emily, who was still hiding behind you, finally came out of your shadow to stare at the burnt out Luxury ball, before kicking it away. It rolled along the floor, letting out even more smoke from the sudden movement, until it disitigrated half way to Archie's former chair.

"Mister....I think Pokeballs are not going to work on miss Kyubi, if they fall apart trying to re-call her. How are we going to get her out of here, then? I look strange enough with black gloves and glasses, but I don't know how people will react seeing her right now...."

[Dragonstrike]

"Blast.  No, that should not have happened.  Not if it recognized you as a Ninetales, that is.  Seems mixing human and pokemon souls favors the human side much more than the pokemon...that's going to make this a little more difficult than I'd like it to be..."

He shakes his head.  He'd have to think of something soon, but now wasn't the time to try.  "I'll explain things a little better once we're out of here, as this isn't the place for long stories.  For now, I have just one more request to ask of you, Kyubi.  Can you try using a restrained Ember on my Kingdra, please?"

The kitsune looked confused and disheartened that her Pokeball went kaput on the both of you, but your promise to explain things later did a great deal to cheer them up! Your next order got her attention, as she looked questioningly at you at the command, before she inhaled a deep breath and let out a small stream of fire on the sea dragon!

Kyubi put her hand over her muzzle mouth in horror as the queen of the sea merrily was merrily roasting away, much to their consternation. Yang, while mildly amused by such a spectacle happening, didn't want this room to stink of burnt dragon flesh, so he used a much more controlled Aqua Tail to put out Kingdra, much to her relief.

She turned to you and stammered out a hasty apology, distressed that this mishap even happened to begin with! "S-s-sorry about this, master! I didn't expect my Ember to burn that hot! Please forgive me...*Whimper*"

Reiner sighs.  "Sorry for setting you on fire again, Kingdra.  I'll make it up to ya later. At least it's not as bad as that one time 3 years ago though, right?  Thank you for extinguishing her burn, Yang."

He faces Kyubi again.  "It's fine, Kyubi.  I did order you to use that ember, after all, and I know how strong you are first hand since I've faced you in battle before.  If it's anyone's fault, it's mine.  Besides, it answered the last two important questions I had about your resurrection: Can you use moves still, and if so, are they still just as strong as before?  Seems the answer to both is yes.  Again, I'll better explain why I needed those questions answered later.  Alright, now that that's all done..."

Reiner stands and goes over to where Archie had been.  "...it's about time I see what else Archie had on his person, and then we can get out of here and talk to the Merchant about getting Kyubi some clothes."

Kingdra sighs as you brought up that memory again. Its not like they could avoid being lite up like a Christmas Tree in their rage filled state back then.....at least her recent burns haven't been nearly as bad as THAT. Yang simply inclined his head towards you at your thanks, before he returns to passively overseeing this situation. Kyubi herself let out a sigh of relief, happy that she had not annoyed her new master or incited the wrath of that Kingdra of his (Though she knew that they were still a bit mad at her...). "Thank you master for being so forgiving, though I don't know why I shouldn't be able to use any of my moves..... I hope you can explain all this to me later, because this resurrection of mine is becoming more confusing to me, not less..." she said, a worried look plastered on her muzzled face. She's glad they haven't upset their new caretaker, but she just wishes that someone would explain to her what was right or wrong with her. She believes she just a normal Ninetales, but with the way everyone else was acting...

When you went over to savage through Archie's 'remains', Emily was already over their, kicking around the dust, tearing up his suit with her talon nails, and generally desecrating the remains with an angry look on her face. Looks like she wanted to pay her 'final dues' to her killer, in the most vindictive way possible. Once she had vented all her pent up rage at the dead man, she wiped off the sweat she built up, and turned around to face you, and nearly fell over into the dust in surprise! The little miss suddenly looked embarrassed and remorseful, unconsciously kicking around the dust around her feet as she looked away from you. "Umm....hehehe....sorry about this, mister. I just...just was so angry at what he did to me and Smeargle, but I didn't want to hurt him like he did to us. He still payed for what he did (She had a disturbed expression on her face as she said this)....but I still felt the need to take my anger on him, so.... I found these things while I was venting....sorry about this again. I should have better control my emotions..."

Emily then handed you two object: One was what looked to be a 24 carat gold wedding band with a small Emerald Brillant Ruby inset on it. Inside the band, the words: Kyubi and Archie , Together forever, our love bright and burning . The second was a TM for a quite unusual move: Power Trick, one that has been modified to be able to be taught to any Pokémon. Apparently after your battle with him, Archie want Kyubi to switch from Offense to Defense with ease. Hmm...

You went over to knock on the door three times, and you waited for about 5 minutes before it opened up, revealing the Merchant as she stepped into the room to survey what unspeakable things you did to Archie. "Hehahehahe....Ai heard luts uf screeming in here. Goess yue used the chemical end cual tu liven things up, or maybe-" they said, before they froze to the spot as they noticed three important things in the room: Archie Sterling was a pile of dust, half smeared on Emily, Mew was lounging tiredly in the background, recouperating from something, and of course Kyubi, alive and the flesh....but very very different. The kitsune took a couple of steps back as the sales person, some sort of instinctual fear response as they just stared at them. "Umm...why are you looking at me like that? Did I know you before I died, or did you know me? I can't remember past my death, so I'm sorry that I forgot about you too...." the kitsune said, looking rather abashedly at them.

The Merchant just stared at her a bit more for a minute or two (Causing the fox to figit a bit under the scruitiny), before they slowly turned to face you. ".....What the fuck am I looking at, Reiner? More over, what the fuck is going on?"

Flashback to Emily

Reiner's shoulders droop ever so slightly and his expression becomes just a little sadder seeing Emily enact what little revenge she can.  He kneels down so he's on eye level with her.  "...I understand completely, Emily.  Just try not to make a habit of harboring such grudges, okay?  You saw where it got Archie, and what kind of man I am for doing much the same.  You don't need to turn out like us, alright?"


Flash Forward to the Merchant

Reiner is also looking at Kyubi, though he's aiming to be a little more comforting.  "Kyubi, it's okay.  The last thing the Merchant here expected was to see...well, this.  She's just surprised about the whole situation, that's all.  Again, I'll answer any questions you have later."

Turning back to face the Merchant, "There's only one punishment worse than everything else in this room, Merchant, and it's having your soul ripped out, ground into tiny pieces, and used to fuel the resurrection of a recently dead living thing.  Which works out well, because Archie was willing to do anything to bring back his Ninetales, and our grudge was with him, not Kyubi."

He looks back at Kyubi, then back at the Merchant.  "I promised him I would take care of her and keep her safe since there were going to be obvious side effects based on what had happened with Emily's resurrection, but they were a little more...extreme this time, possibly due to this 'life for a life' power favoring the human side of things just a little more than the pokemon side.  Kyubi, as I'd expected, is now part human in addition to pokemon.  She's still able to battle much like any other pokemon, but her Luxury Ball overloaded and was permanently fried when I tried to recall her to it, so I'm not sure if using a different pokeball would work or not (though I could try using one of the pokeballs I have on hand, I guess...).  Could you please get her some clothes so she can blend in just a little bit better?"
