[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
@Lord Windos You have to declare your number of actions before the next round begins. So your orders don't quite work - the two conditions need to have the same number of actions.

(So if I modify the extra set of condition to have 3/4/5 Action Cost, it will work? Ok then!)

Fisherman Matrim's Gyarados Round 4

Gyarados falls asleep, only to be promptly woken up with a Full Heal. "I see you know your stuff. Status conditions are about the only way to take down a Gyarados. So of course I came prepared with a few of these."

"Gyarados! Try an Ice Fang to lock him down!"

Encore
(4)(4)(6)(4)
[Image: 852481e9d5a7e58af1524add89b8cdb9.png] Neat. So Gyarados is now locked into Hyper Beam, Recharge, AND Evasion. Limits his damage output very nicely.

Hyper Beam
(5)(4)(4)(3)
(6)(6)(1)(4)(6) Raphael takes 4 damage 5/9hp -1 pain.

Gyarados' actions will be very predictable now. Much easier to strike when he is weak!

Yawn
(1)(4)(6) (with pain)

Gyarados looks sleepy!

Charm
(2)

Gyarados will fall asleep.

"Yeah, you could say that...though most of it's been in the last 3 weeks.  A lot of it in the past two or three days...couple near death experiences, including getting threatened by another trainer, a few really strange occurences, two gym battles...it's almost funny, really.  More's happened in these last few weeks than has ever happened to me in my life before starting this journey, and it's barely even begun...Kirlia and I have been friends for a little over a year now, though.  It's...strange to think about..."  Nathan's absentmindedly munching on those snacks now that they're done cooking.  They weren't all that bad, but how they tasted was the last thing on his mind currently...

"Oh, it's a common occurrence on these journeys. When someone goes away on a journey like that, they almost never come back the same."

Pause.

"It's funny...I think when people change, maybe they are closest to Pokemon. Like our own little evolution. Maybe that's why so many of the powerful trainers - and I don't mean those with Gyarados or Steelix, but those who can unlock the potential of any Pokemon - so many powerful trainers are young or journeying for the first time. I hope someday you join their ranks, young trainer!"

Fisherman Matrim's Gyarados Round 5

"Oh, I knew that you might be prepared to cure it of Status, so I had Raphael lock you into Hyper Beam for the time being to keep that Gyarados of yours debilitated regardless of what you do. A Togekiss' power lay not with its inherent strength, but just how much they can hinder their opponents, as you have plainly learned. Now that we have a pattern established, Raphael would you mind using Air Slash, Yawn if the angler tries to arouse his beast for its slumber and Charm if he doesn't, then ready a Non-Lethal Sky Attack for the next bout of combat.  Let us show this gentleman what guile and cunning is capable of...."

Order: Togekiss will use Air Slash in an attempt to both deal chip damage AND interrupt Hyper Beam from going off (Hopefully), then will use either Yawn or Charm to further hobble the beast, then they will prepare a Sky Attack for the next round. Then the cycle starts from their: Sky Attacks lands, Togekiss will either use Yawn to put Gyarados asleep once more or Charm/Another Air Slash (If target is already Charmed and Asleep), then prepare another Sky Attack. Rinse and repeat until Encore wears off and/or Raphael faints ; simple, yet thought out!

Move(s):

Air Slash
Accuracy: 8D6 - 1 Pain - 3 Actions = 4D6 Dice
Damage: 2D6
Effect: *Flitch 5*

Yawn (If Fisherman keeps trying to arouse them)
Accuracy: 3D6
Effect: Known

Charm (If Fisherman accepts Gyarados' fate)
Accuracy: 2D6

Sky Attack counts as a 5th Action, but its Accuracy will not be rolled until the round afterwards, so it will have an accuracy of 3D6 for being the first actions of the sequence.

Nathan has to think about that for a moment.  "Maybe...my dad always used to tell me that he wouldn't have had the confidence to talk to my mom if it hadn't been for his journey with his pokemon...maybe you'd have heard of him?  Marco Warren?  He challenged the Elite 4 at some point before he met my mom and settled in Trillium.  Lost to Hayes and his Latias, unfortunately.  I'm living in some pretty big shadows..."

"That might be a bit before my time, though the name does ring a bell. Maybe I've heard people talking about him. It's really cute that your parents met through Pokemon. I wouldn't have the self confidence to do anything if it wasn't for Pokemon. I was really scrawny back in school, before I got my first." It seems Valerie opens up to you as you open up to her.

"Yeah, he'd tell me all sorts of stories about his adventures around the region, among other things, and how it influenced him as a person.  I'm only now just starting to see what he meant, to be honest...he'd also caught quite a lot of attention from the media as he got closer to his Elite 4 challenge.  Then things settled down for awhile after he moved to Trillium with my mom, until they suddenly spiked again...the last time he was really involved in something headline worthy was 3 years ago...he just...vanished...though by that point, he'd been so far out of the loop that I'm sure only a few rumours leaked out from Trillium, and then died down within a month or three..."

For some reason, it just feels...right somehow to be talking about this with Valerie...even though it's still rather difficult...Kirlia's sitting right next to him, mirroring the sad expression Nathan has, and offering the best comfort he can.

Fisherman Matrim's Gyarados Round 5

Gyarados falls asleep. And stays that way, though one malicious eye stares sightlessly at Raphael.

Air Slash
(3)(5)(1)(4)
(3)(3) No damage.
Flinch is irrelevant I suppose.

Charm
(4)(1)
-2 Str to Gyarados

And yep, you still have dice left so Sky Attack can begin charging.

Insight: (6)(2)(6)(3) 2 successes out of 5.
2 rounds of Encore left.

Fisherman Matrim's Gyarados Round 6

Sky Attack
(5)(3)(4)
2 Str + 6 power +1 STAB -3 vit = 6 dice
(5)(6)(3)(6)(2)(2) Gyarados takes 3 dmg 18/24hp.

"Whoa, so that's what Sky Attack looks like! That move is like a better version of Hyper Beam!"

Air Slash
(1)(2) Miss

Raphael is glowing!

Insight: (6)(4)(3)(4) Gyarados wakes up!

But another round of Encore is still coming up.

Fisherman Matrim's Gyarados Round 6

Sky Attack
(1)(4)(3)
(4)(1)(2)(6)(5)(4) Gyarados takes 4 dmg 14/24
Flinch: (3)(4)(5)(4)(1)

"Whoo, this feels like deja vu all over again! You've got a brilliant routine set up there. My Pokemon doesn't even need orders!" He takes out a rod and starts fishing. "Gonna need protection if that Gyarados faints..."

Hyper Beam
(6)(2)(3)(3)
(3)(2)(4)(5) Raphael takes 1 dmg 4/9 hp. -2 pain now.

You see that the Fisherman is actually watching the battle, though pretending to fish. "Oh, I wish I could order him to use evasive action..." Ven's sharp hearing hears him mutter.

Yawn
(2)(4) with increased pain

Gyarados gets sleepy! Too late, he tries to dodge!

Glowing!

Fisherman Matrim's Gyarados Round 7

Tomorrow you can let me know if you want to enable Encore again! Definitely creating a more level playing field for Apsis, though Raphael doesn't look like he'll make it unless that Sky Attack causes flinch - which it has a very good chance of doing!
