[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
The researcher gave Tramp a grateful smile for the MooMoo Milk ofter, and then thought over the prospect of retrieving Belle's coveted accessory, coming up with a couple plans of action, before he gave a firm nod to him. "I'll go forth and begin searching for the trinket poste haste, then, and return when I either excavate it from the mud, or at least give a honest effort to the task. Geodude aid would certainly be appreciated in searching the sodden mess, and I have both Lucifer and Hanael to furent its location out and reduce the amount of goopy muck to shovel through, respectively. Wish me luck Tramp, and may Reshirim guide me to the lost treasure, hidden under a sea of mud!" Ventus declared, his expression and tone eagerly delighted at the opportunity to help the couple out, before he stood up, bid farwell to him, and made his way over to the location, humming a cheerful tune as he went along!

Order: Take Geodude, Haneal, and Lucifer to help search for the Miltank braclet, and spend as much time need to thoroughly shift through the flith! Lucifer will fly over the puddle as a lookout to help narrow down where it could be, Hanael going to use Ember to dry up parts of mud into dirt so that its easier for Geodude and Ventus to excavate through it. If all else fails and they can't find it through tradition means, have Haneal use Magnitude on the hole to forcibly expel and/or reorganize its contents, and do another sweeping search of the area. Time to make like an archeologist, and dig dig dig!

"Well, the rules....aren't followed very often. A Pokemon as commanding as an Absol might well create an open space around it. No Runners will want to mess with it. I know I wouldn't. No Pokemon, either - most of the Pokemon in the Running are simple, brutish types. Absol is not like them."
(Encounters within the Running are affected by Vitality, possibly modified by Dexterity).

"The roads are always lined with spectators. If you're jumping into the Running from the crowd, I don't know that anyone would stop you unless you stood next to a Nurse Joy or a Shield Maiden. Not on purpose, anyway. They'll definitely be an impediment to you. Won't want to give up their spot. And they'll definitely notice you - you might end up on the Internet as a viral video. But it's definitely possible to leap into the fray if you're athletic and canny enough, if you have enough skill with nature."
(Trying to leap inside would be a Survival check, possibly modified by Strength).

"I think if you entered the Running, your chances of meeting a specific Pokemon are higher, but that assumes you make it long enough without having to tap out, or getting trampled. If you jumped in from the sidelines, you could avoid all that extra danger, but it'd be hard to time it right."

Quote:Xiani: "Yes, I had very strange dreams while I was in Corsage Port. I would run and run and get nowhere. It was hard to fall asleep, knowing that was waiting for me. Very unlike the Running, which is stupidly dangerous but extraordinarily free-spirited and unrestrained. After Ginger Town, the Pokemon flee to the Great Divide. Then they work their way slowly, individually, back up to the northern mountains where they live most of the year. So you may be seeing the same Pokemon two years RUNNING. Oh, there's some Pokemon that are almost extirpated in Creshire who participate in the Running. The rarest I can think of are giant Tropius, strong-willed Aron, furtive Kangaskhan, enraged Bulbasaur, and bold Piloswine. There are indeed Nido Pokemon in the Running, mostly Nidorino. They're one of the common ones, but they aren't very fast or aggressive. The bulk of the crowd will be Tauros, Stantler, Ponyta, and Doduo - which is really funny to watch in particular, that one huge bird Pokemon keeping up with all the quadrupeds."

"... ... ...weird, huh? That was practically the same thing with me in Corsage. Then, one day is was randomly better and the town had a little less scary atmoshphere... I still have no idea what and why that happened, but I'm not that inclined to find out."

Shiva actually listened rather closely, nothing new that she had that interest to snatch one or two rare Pokemon whenever there's an opportunity. "They're probabaly way easier to catch when they stopped RUNNING, and work their way up to the mountains... Eh, anyway, thanks! Tropius are great Pokemon If some of the runners are almost extirpated, it could be interesting to catch them, breed them, and then return to the wild to live freely... Hmm. Nevermind, I'd almost bed money that they broadcast the event on TV/PC to watch, do they? While I'd feel much safer if staying close to you and the other Healers during RUNNING, I wouldn't want to distract too much from work, so I'll likley watch things from screen."

"Well, it may be hard to catch them up in the mountains, because those mountains are essentially impassable. But yes, they broadcast the Running most years. I'm sure the Center will have it."

"So the best shot I have at getting to Absol is if I'm in the fray myself...and I need to find that Absol.  If I falter, rules are the least of my worries...*sigh*...well, looks like I'm going to be entering...and I'll have to get in shape for it...think you could help me with that as well as actually getting to Absol during the run?  I know it's a lot to ask, and I've been less than receptive to this event...but this is...really important...I don't know if I'll ever get another shot at this if I don't encounter this Absol now..."

"Oh... Didn't know that the mountains are ouright impassable. That means the chance to catch one of the rare species is indeed solely during their RUNNING... Nevermind, it feels more safe for me to stay inside the Center preferably, there'll be hopefully enough chances to catch a rare Pokemon during my further journey through the region."

"Well, eh... Guess I'll get going then, before I accidently distract you from work even more. However, it's been splendid to see you again as foreshadowed, despite the town is way more crowded that I actually thought or expected." She hestiated a little before continueing, but if she doesn't speak it out, they might loose track of one another, which Shiva was...well, she didn't want that, now that she found someone to silently look up to. Xiani was tough, independant, nevertheless pretty in...whatever that was that she dressed herself there, she seemingly knew how to look good with little more effort than draping fabric over herself and a real Herbalist. And she called her 'honey' there on the flower field as handing the price money for her victory against Woobat and Persian. Wasn't there something about a Trainer doesn't just leaved their hometown to gather Pokemon and battle, but also to meet all variety of people and make new friends...? Would it be weird to ask whether they'd see one another again, whether Xiani would be up to stay in contact  and for example exchange numbers after The Running/before she returns to Corsage Port...? Technically and biologically, she's at least ten years older than Shiva was, but since she got along with a seven years older Sociologist wonderfully, what spoke against it? Nothing, if you'd ask Shiva...

Anyway. "Uh... Before I leave, wanted to wish you good luck during the Running in the way that there'll hopefully be not too many injuries you'll have to deal with... You think we see one another again?" The insecurity in the last sentance was real. But so was the wish to stay in contact.

"Oh, and, last question, did you saw Zamboni here already? I believe I got a glimpse on his Delibird before I ran into you, do you happen to know whether he accepts challenges during the Running ata all? Maybe it's a way better idea to wait with challenging him until after The Runnin'... "

(Back to the cozyness of bed I now go... Just wanted to shortly chip in to wrap this up. Hope you enjoyed this conversation as much as I did~)

"Oh, Shiva, of course we'll see each other again! At the very least, that's a benefit of technology - here, I'll write my phone number on your hand, or on some paper if you have any. Plus, we're both travelers, right? We're certain to cross paths."

"Zamboni doesn't participate in the Running. I'd say you'll want to challenge him not during it, but either right before or right after. Or anytime after, I suppose."

Kory: "Yeah, I'll help you, cuz. My charity gets the money as long as I race - though they get more if I make it farther without tapping out. But whatever. I'll make up the money myself if I feel I got gypped. We'll stick together early on. You can have Ponyta out if you like. I've got Lopunny with me, which will help - he's fast and he has Fighting moves. Oh, actually riding a Pokemon is risky, 'cause you could be knocked off. Best is to just have a hand on her mane or bridle, and be ready to recall her. We'll keep an eye out for this scarred Absol and holler to each other if we see it, and converge on the Pokemon ASAP."
