[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

Though, thank you for clarifying that I'm thankfully wrong in this case!~

Yeah, when I said Nathan would approach her discretely about mentioning it (if he does so at all), it's not to confirm what he already knows.  It would be to honestly tell her he figured it out.  And after that, he'd be unlikely to speak of it ever again until it becomes a relevant topic once more.

It certainly has Lovely Kiss.  0 exp move.  Nathan's got 3 Awakenings, a Chesto Berry, and a Lum Berry though.  He's more than equipped to deal with the status currently.  Quagsire could also have Yawn. Also, Jynx has Perish Song as a 0 exp move...hmmm...

What I'm more wary of though is their abilities.  I'm assuming they have Dry Skin and Water Absorb so Starmie can't just smash them with its Mystic Water boosted Water STAB.

I'd argue for not even doing THAT unless the plot will inevitably call for it, since while it's comprehesible that he figured it out, it wouldn't be very nice nor helpful to tell Shiva about it. Let her rest, and keep silent about things just as Ventus does and things will be fine.

Aieyayaya, now that you mention it, that is very likely to be the case! He sent out a Dry Skin Crogunk against Ventus when Ariel + Lucifer was fighting them, to prevent me from Bubble Spamming indescrimentaly!

Perish Song is rather nasty too, but didn't you specify that the battle was no fainting earlier? DB and moves that inflict OHKOs/Auto knock outs are effectively banned in that case, and if she breaks those rules, Nathan can just not give her the prize move and move on with his day. Simple, really.

I have a few words to say about that, namely: MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WITH NASTY PLOT, RAPHAEL IS MORE POWERFUL THAN EVER BEFORE! FEAR THE AIR SLASHES, EXTREME SPEEDS, AND AURA SPHERE SPAM!

*Cough* Sorry about that, went a little mad with power there! Anyway, I had an interesting though, Iron about a side effect of NP: Would using it make Raphael more accepting of Ven's morally dubious actions, since they are channeling their inner wickedness/deviousness? Would be interesting to see Raphael mirror their father in that aspect of his personality!

Perhaps ever so slightly. Especially when the devious action is a step toward some goal Raphael does agree with. It will make him a more "ends justify the means" Pokemon.

Yes, that's why I'm not too worried about Perish Song in the end.

Another instance of this was the first battle Nathan had with Miller.  He sent out two pokemon that Porygon couldn't reasonably touch with its Download boosted Tackle.  Iron's style for making these types of encounters seems to be 'how can I keep the players from completely steamrolling their opponents with the same strategies?'

In that case, I'm somewhat looking forward to battle some foe that has Cloud Nine to nullify Shiva calling for sun. C:

He could just also bring a counter weather team that plays havoc with you, such as a Sandstorm/Hail, which nobody but Rock/Steel/Ground/Pokémon with certain Abilities and Ice types can really use to their advantage!

Ohhh, @Iron, I'd enjoy to have a battle against another weather team at some later point, additionally to that one Lapras under the rain. Fun, and it'd be quiet an experience~

Sometimes I do that, and sometimes I have the opponent built ahead of time, as with Miller!
Usually I start with a personality for the NPC and build a team around that, picking movesets, species, and abilities appropriate to the challenge.
At $400, Rivergrinder is supposed to be a pretty neutral challenge, with not a whole ton of type effectiveness either way.
She had one really really important lucky roll, though.

Oo, but weather teams are hard to balance, as we know!
