When Ventus first summoned Raphael, he was quickly to give it some specific instructions (Namely, don't use Yawn, Encore, or Nasty Plot unless he says so), and an affection carass over their head spines, earning him an happy coo from the archangel in question. Things may have been difficult between them and their master, as reconcling the caring man that raised them from an Egg with his....brutality and merciless nature at time was intensely uncomforting to them, but the divine bird still shared a loving bond with him despite this. It will take time for their emotional scars from the revelation to mend,  and their trainer working diligently to re-gain the former level of seredipudous Happiness and Loyalty he had with them, but they still had faith in him. Everyone always deserves the chance for forgiveness, especially if its family, and especially especially if its their father!

The researcher smile grew a little more relaxed at his archangel's cheerful attitude, but it was soon offset by the Nathan's pained reactions, and his senses indicated that his inner conflict/suppressed emotions were only growing more wild and unseemly at an accelerated rate. Unfortunately, bare forfeiting the match out of concern for the boy's health (Which was liable to be a very poor decision, judging by their unstable behavior in spite of their apathy), their was little he could do to ameliate their suffering, so her focused on the one person he COULD aid right now: Shiva. With a heartfelt smile, he squeezed her hand in the gentliest way possible, using his fingers to kneed out the tenseness and anxiety he could acutely feel as if it were his own. "Do not feel dismayed, Shiva. Nathan may be giving us a hard time, but we are slowly eroding the foundations of his strength with every action taken against him, no matter how minute our efforts may seem. This battle might have drifted into more serious territory for everyone, but all the more reason to be brimming with exuberance and joy, in order to show that a change in mood will not bring down our spirits. We have to stay determined, so don't give into despair! Give me a smile, my dear...."

When she felt grip of her hand increasing, Shiva actually looked up from the side to the one the hand she was holding belonged to. Her gaze was kept neutral and calm, but on a second glance the state of some sort of high flyer would be found, dealing with all of the (mentioned) emotions at the same time. Not in a conflict as it seemed to be in Nathan's case at the moment, nope; her feelings could barely be more free but they all got along with one another. This doesn't change anything about how tirering this will be later for sensitive Shiva. Though, currently...

This awoke from both realizing how she IS able to do well on some circumstances- 'you remember your great Gym Battle for example, or your by-a-hair-victory on the cruise that kept the audience entertained, my dear? ' - , Ven's encouragement sure played a role to this turn in her. It was like the Umbreon in her decided to call it a day or night, and simply watch the moon and stars twinkle to gain back some vitality. Ventus was there, he even gave her that fond heartfelt smile, Raphalel was there to both save the situation maybe as well - maybe more important for Shiva - be a physical representation of joy and blessing, just like the almost-suffocating cold and apathic atmoshere was beginning to be defoged and unblurred right before Shiva's mental eye.

'Give me a smile, my dear' - Since when does he call her like that was her first reaction, but it was surely reached her - gave it all the rest, it felt like it triggers hope... Ven never lost the ability to smile honestly and warm things up this way, why should Shiva not slowly return this now, when the situation called for 'exuberance and joy'? "It's not only the battle per se that may dismaying me," she told Ven in a silent and very hesitated tone, "but also the whole circumstances. Agreed to have a pleasant battle, but then found conditions were different from my point of view, causing me to consider quitting the challenge before it even started... But, you're there, Raphael's there, none of my Pokemon got harmed enough to shield him from furthering battle, we are helping Nathan by going through this battle, and doing our best possible still, right? This...is no point to break... Survival is the key, is it? Then we'll have to go that path..." Finally, more hestitant and innocently, she indeed returned Ven's smile in her usual coy manner.

Meanwhile, Plusle was both overjoyed that he didn't got hit so far as well as a big white birdlike Pokemon will be his battle partner for now - instead of sweet Minun - , threw a glance at the owner of the Togekiss and Master standing beside and near, and got ready to battle his way as well as cheer on Raphael with pomoms made of his own electricity.

She kept that coy and innocent smile, and Ven would feel that she has as well tightened the grip of his hand for not more than a few dreamy moments, but her mood instantly increased. Plusle has, between her charming and nuzzling, indeed started to cheer on Raphael, and watched how incredibly fast his battle partner flew across the battle field to crash into his foes with fascination.

Ventus couldn't help the chuckle escaping his lips as Raphael and Plusle at not only successfully dismantling Nathan's fierce duo of electric spider and solidgraphic duck, but also the drastic rise in Shiva's happiness as she graced him with a gorgeous lovely magnificent smile that just warmed his heart with its splendor. "Yes, Reshirim's flames are burning brightly within you now! If we keep positive and continue to play this fight carefully, we surely show Nathan the true power that comes from using both heart and mind in tandum, and teach him how to use it properly himself! We shall endure, and we shall triumph in this fight, so let us be fierce together this day!!!" 

Raphael was twirling around in mid air at the moment, feeling the wind and dancing to its own beat as it patiently await the next moment to strike his foe(s) with all natural ease!

Kirlia looks rather startled.  Even though he hadn't been paying a great amount of attention to Nathan and his apathy was muting it, he definitely felt Nathan feeling...desperate.  

He was about to lose two pokemon without having even taken out one of his opponents'...friendly battle or not, this battle was really getting to him...this needed to either end soon, or he needed to gain an advantage of some kind...

Nathan swaps his entire team out, sending out Starmie (same initiative) and Kirlia (5) + 6 = 11.
Shiva switches Plusle for Azurill, who keeps the same initiative as well.

Pluse got called out of the battlefield, but he refused to be withdrawn as soon as Shiva raised the Pokeball coded to him. Not in a bad way though, he kept a delighted smile nevertheless and ran up his Master's free arm containing he ball instead to get comfy on her shoulder. Looks like he wanted to watch the rest of the battle, and - most important - cheer on Raphael and and whatever Master will send out now!~ Azurill was still in slight pain and paralyzed from her prior performance, but picked up with her Fairy Nature and bond to her Master how...stable and joyful she was compared to earlier, before blue mouse got recalled. This silently rubbed off on Azu!

Nothing really changed about Shiva concerning her emotional state when Kirlia out of all got up from her place and displayed himself ready to fight; if it did, it was only a trace and wouldn't be noticed from neither the dancer nor Ven. Though, she was a little wary about the first now, since he was closely observing her and Ven in battle (she did pick this up, see earlier post), and Shiva didn't enjoy this much currently.

Calam glares at Heart.  That wasn't helping matters any.  At all.  

And notably, the disaster pokemon is standing now, looking ready to bolt at a moment's notice.

Something was going to happen soon, but he doesn't know what...

Luckily for Heart, neither Nathan nor Kirlia are paying enough attention to hear the cheering.  Kirlia is very, very concerned about Nathan right now, having dropped much of his focus on Ventus and Shiva, but is more than ready to attempt to take control of this battle back if it will help his friend calm down.  

It was down to him and Starmie to turn this around.
