[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins

Your team gained 6XP/10Xp.
Nathan's team gained 8XP/16XP.
It's always going to feel low when one team is two people. That's the nature of the beast.

I'll give you each an extra Pokemon XP though. That brings it up to as if you had defeated 3 of Nathan's Pokemon. Since the battle was under harsher strictures than normal.

Ah, didn't realize you were splitting the total XP between both our Pokémon and Character, rather than assigning a flat value for each respective category. I appreciate the extra XP point, so thank you!

I edited my latest post to include Shiva and Kirlia response to him and Nathan's fainting, so heads up!

How it works is your side's Pokemon gain an amount (10XP). This is then split among two people (5XP). Then trainers get their own XP, which is half the Pokemon XP. I rounded up as a favor (3XP).
That's actually how it's always worked, give or take, though I don't always explain the whole thing, and sometimes roll bonuses together.
As more detail, training is worth 1XP, a wild encounter is worth 2XP, and a trainer Pokemon worth 3XP. Then I add modifiers (per Pokemon) for how challenging the battle would be for an average member of the party. Usually just one or two points.

The original rules say ALL XP is halved from a Double battle, THEN split, but I have no idea why that would be the case?

Was this also present in Ventus' & Nathan's Team Battle against Chuckles? Because with that rule, the battle was worth 24XP for them split into 12 for each Trainer and 18XP for defeating Chuckle's Pokemon split into 9. Even for a Gym Battle, this sounds somewhat too much. http://pokemonuranium.co/forum/showthrea...9#pid21639

Each of his 4 Pokemon were probably worth 5XP, plus a bonus. Or maybe 6. Every point makes a big difference when multiplied across 4 Pokes. They still ended up with slightly less than they'd get if they performed two 3x3 battles, but of course they saved a lot of time, and got to use a pool of 12 Pokemon. I think that lends itself to interesting strategy.

Sounds fair enough, thanks for clearing. Though, I think Shiva's further Gym Battles will be fought by her alone then unless the circumstances greatly call for teaming up. Wouldn't enjoy much to share XP when every single matters for my non-battler character, as well as these battles are supposed to make her and her Pokemon grow. Nothing against teaming up outside of the Gyms, however.

It's up to you, of course. And that's a very good theory. But you can also think of it in terms of how long it will take in days: if you do a double battle, you might gain time for an Encounter Slot. Single battle, the gym leader may need to rest a day in between challenges.
Double battles, depending on how often the partners are online, may also take less meatspace time than two single battles.

Then again, gym leaders will only accept a double battle if they have a team that can benefit from it in some way. I need to look into the distribution of spread moves across types. The old "physical" types are likely to have less.

These are all great things for a character or player to be thinking/strategizing about. They're meaningful decisions with no wrong answer.

IIRC, I didn't design any gym leaders who REQUIRE a double/teamwork battle. Those often felt unfair in the games.

Ah, true, I remember that you told me that while Zamboni accepted a Double Battle, not all Gym Leaders do so. I guess I'll determine things when more of a Gym Leader itself is revealed at all, since Shiva will not just accept every challenge. Depends on various things, like what Type/Theme they use, what image they have, what Pokemon she can rely on etc., plus I enjoy and enjoyed to think outside the box for such important battles. C:

Shiva is not present there by fainted Nathan, @Spiritmon. I explicitely said she'll leave and doesn't really care about Nathan now. It's not meant cruel, she's usually a very compassionate soul - but this time, it just went too far. The battle Nathan put her and Ventus through was a fast and high rollercoaster of emotions and stability for her, she just needs a break now.

Sorry! I was late. Kinda have a harsh day. Car broken in the college. Have change some pieces, been stress after that. And other things to resolve. I was thinking to accept your offer to go with Shiva, but since Nathan faint, Heart going to help. But he thinks Nathan actions was wrong, but he going to help.
