[Meta thread] Iron's PokeRole Adventure: The Skull Ruins
(09-28-2017, 03:42 PM)Dragonstrike Wrote: Nathan would probably very much enjoy having such a knowledgeable pokemon companion, actually.  As long as you can convince him to take Slowpoke, that is, instead of arguing for its release back into the wild.  If Slowpoke shows a rather clear preference of wanting to get away from Ventus (considering what Ventus is planning, that seems pretty likely...), but doesn't show a desire to leave the group, then Nathan will probably take it.  (there could be other ways to convince Nathan, though...)

Though he does already have Starmie on his team that he's rather attached to, but Slowking seems like the perfect kind of pokemon for a history enthusiast like Nathan.

If Slowpoke/King wants nothing to do with Ven and the group, its being traded away for profit no matter how fiercely Nathan complains, as he is not one to waste ANYTHING like a rare Pokémon by just releasing it into the wilds. I'm also willing to conduct a trade for Starmie in exchange for Slowking, since that frees up that slot and gives him a Water/Psychic type that is just about powerful/useful as the scribe. I'll make sure to use them frequently when the occasion calls for it, so it won't stagnate in the PC mate. That, or just give it to Valder but always keep Slowking out of his ball and treat him as a NPC party member most of the time. Dunno how exactly we will handle who owns it/how it will be used, but hopefully we can sort it out in the future.

Not all Slowking can talk, either. So you'll have to wait and see what form this Slowking's intelligence takes.

Wow, I roffled stomped Slowpoke HARD. Well, its going to be sent to sent to Ventus's PC until further notice, but he'll inform Nathan of his plans to evolve Slowpoke into Slowking later on, and get his input/knowledge on the species. Also, should Slowpoke also know Curse on top of its 0 XP moves, since it did use it at the start of the battle? Or was it so surprised that it went first that it spontaneously was able to use the move then?

I actually enjoy the thought of it being some sort of group Pokemon/NPC member while Nathan can see it as some sort of companion and/or has most fondness to it. Lore is nice, but at least Shiva doesn't care much for history. Someone would have to take efforts and raise it's Loyalty though before it'll be evolved, or else it might not even care about us...

I actually assumed that it would not be able to talk, but would still be able to patamime/write (Maybe)/use its psychic powers to get the gist of what it knows about history/lore. Of course, with 4 Insight backing all his Pokémon, Slowking has a better chance than not learning how to speak human....

Yeah it would be very intelligent for sure, no matter where it gets Shellder.

Well, none of Nathan's pokemon are up for trade, really (except Zubat, potentially). If he catches something, it's usually because he intends to use it/give it a good home himself. Starmie for Slowking also wouldn't feel like a completely fair trade from a battle capability standpoint for Nathan since Starmie has access to vastly more powerful attacks overall (Hydro Pump and powered up Psywave later down the line are both rather scary with minimal setup).

It is probably fairly reasonable that Nathan would have an interest in raising a Slowking, and probably even a long term interest at that. King's rocks are just really rare, so most of his interest in trying to get one would have to stem from knowing getting a Slowking is even a reasonable possibility in the first place...

Whoooo, sucessfully caught that Litwick, and it has indeed Flame Body!~ I wonder how Ventus will find the thought of Shiva owning such a Ghost that is... 'drawn to her life force'.

Neat, with the decreased disobedience Chandelure only needs one additional point in Loyalty to obey her. It's still a dangerous Pokemon, yet strong because the line learns Memento realtively early...

I guess the other thing to note is that Starmie doesn't really have to be in Nathan's party at all when it's not needed for the most part, since the only move it learns with exp is Confuse Ray. So there is technically room in his party for a different water pokemon even if he does keep Starmie...

You also need a Dusk Stone to evolve Lampent into Chandelure, though.  Which could conflict with a potential Oblivicorn later if the stones are rather scarce.
