So @Dragonstrike, how should I approach Nathan about evolving his Overgrown Slowpoke into a Slowking/taking about his intention for him to do so? Considering that you all but admitted that he would most likely but heads with them on forcibly evolving them, what would be the best way to avoid that thorny conflict? Besides saying that he plans to 'give' it to them for their own use, of course!

Hmmmm...well, again, I think it's fairly reasonable that Nathan would at least have a little personal interest in the species.  And for more than one reason.  Should probably let him show a little of that first before discussing the details at length.  The mere mention of a potential Slowking is certain to catch his attention, after all.

Thinking about it, Slowpoke -> Slowking is actually a rather tricky trade evolution simply because of how dopey and carefree Slowpoke typically are.  In fact, wild Slowpoke tend to just evolve by pure coincidence when they catch Shellder while fishing with their tails, and the evolved forms can rather easily devolve via the loss of their Shellder (in theory).  Considering that...well, there's a chance Nathan might not have as many issues with it, simply because Slowpoke might not either.  And considering Slowpoke has to be bitten by a Shellder to evolve, even after being traded...well, it might be as simple as doing the King's Rock fueled trade immediately, and then finding the Shellder catalyst later since the trade merely unlocks the potential for that evolution...

Since Slowpoke probably won't care either way, Nathan might not care as much either...and Slowking might even prefer not being Slowbro due to that intelligence they wouldn't have otherwise...

TLDR; Thinking about it, it might not be quite as much of an issue for Slowpoke specifically.

If I recall waaaaay back, Ventus gave Sochi that Overgrown Shellder, and still has her number on his phone, so it might be possible to arrange a trade for the Overgrown Shellder and use it instead of just any other one. Overgrown Duo evolution might work out even better than usual, but if that is not possible Nathan could just Teleport with Kirlia to Ginger Town and go towards Vapor Falls to get a Slowking that way. Funny how our just reading up on the sloath's entry changed my plans entirely for the creature, eh?

Yeah, funny how that works.  A Shellder from Vapor Falls would be an excellent place for Nathan to evolve Slowpoke, seeing as there's a chance Slowking might pick up some info related to Mesprit or the contents of its cavern in that case, or maybe even the other members of the Lake Trio (maybe even picking up some telepathy or speech capability in the process as well?).  Teleporting back there would be quite the feat, though...but one Nathan might have to do later anyways.  Some long range Teleportation practice might be in order...(@Iron, any thought on Teleport's limitations so we aren't operating off of pure assumption?)

Sochi probably wouldn't be particularly pleased with that since Ventus caught that Shellder specifically for her.  Probably best not to even consider it unless Ventus could offer her something even better than a pearl producing Shellder that could theoretically swallow her whole (that Shellder was HUGE.  Maybe even a little TOO big for this particular Slowpoke...).

Also, off topic, but to answer your earlier question about Slowpoke using Curse since nobody else has yet, it's a 0 exp move for the dopey pokemon.  I know, it's weird.  Spiritomb, Banette, and Ferrothorn are the only other pokemon that learn the move for 0 exp.  Runner up is Steelix (4).

Well, you're not that far behind.  You should be able to catch up.  Particularly since that hiker said you guys could walk down route 04 for a little bit if need be.

Shiva is lagging behind a little as well since panicking over a Litwick, recovering from that, adoring the glance of the Albino Donphan in the distance and shopping clothes surely takes its time, so he could catch a glance of her battle 'gainst Tyrogue and join her when meeting up with the group will be the call (which will be after the battle and a little talk with the Move Tutor) - if he desires, that is.
