As for your final question, Slowking holds up two stubby fingers. Then he brings up the other paw, and one of the fingers "moves" onto that paw. He dramatically separates his hands, showing two SEPARATE fingers. He pretends to weigh these two hands as separate possibilities.

"Okay...so, any ideas who this 'sharer' might be, then?  I know it mentions both Kirlia and me in the second message...but those parts about the 'sharer' and the 'only other way'...they're rather vague...it does suggest there's two ways to free it, I guess, but there's no clear indication what's required of the second one from what I can tell..."

Little 4x4 Round 3

That makes the Init Order Kyuu - Poochyena - Oddish - Duskull. Neat!

Okay, while her cherrylike Pokemon sucessfully defeated a fierly fox (yay!), it was blasted poison in the end that made her fall. Toxins... Ugh. *barely noticable cold shivers*

Kyuu was still asleep, but at the sight of a Duskull being sent out Shiva remembered-noticed two things: 1. she seemingly belongs to the estimated few percentage of people who never got visited by a Duskull at night during childhood and 2. she recently got a Dark Type for herself aside from Spectral - that Poochyena! Let's see how he'll behave in his trial-battle... "Okay, eh, Poochyena - or simply Yena - You seem to enjoy rough playing, but how do you enjoy biting a ghost? Come on, give it a try!" Shiva will probably have to get used to see her elusive butterwolfly in a menacing pose.

Accuracy Bite 1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 0 Brawl - 2 Actions = 3 d6
Accuracy Bite 1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 0 Brawl - 2 Actions = 3 d6
Damage Roll: 2 Strength + 2 Power of the move + 1 STAB = 5 D6 + 1 autodamage due to SE on Duskull
Additional notes: Ghost Types moves are not very effective on Poochyena, wonder if Duskull is mean enough to use a move on sleeping Kyuu? Also 3 CD to flinch Duskull, Poochyena is immune to any effects from CD Rolling.

Kyuu is at 3/5 Insight to wake up from sleep.

Slowking indicates that Kirlia is indeed the sharer. He seems a bit grumpy that he cannot get his point across, but he doesn't act like it's your fault.

However, he manages to indicate by pointing that YOU, or others, could be involved in the "other way." It's true; the prophecy doesn't necessarily require that the party in the first portion be related to the second part. He taps his nose knowingly.

"Okay...well, it's not like this is going anywhere for the time being.  We can always come back to it later.  Maybe if I could find a way for you to better communicate what you want to say...hmmm...well, I have an idea, but it'll take awhile to set up...maybe later tonight.  For now...well, there's some other things I need to do today before it's over.  Gotta make sure Dagny is up to date on the situation, for one..."

If Nathan's only got one more encounter for the day, then he'll be heading off to Dagny's gym to look for her there, probably coincidentally being there when that 'special guest' arrives.  Otherwise, I'll have to think of something else to fill the remaining time until then...

Ace Trainer Firestone Round 2

Detect
6 dice, -4 actions -1 pain = 1 dice
(6)
The snake's jaws close against fiery power...but can Flareon be intimidated?

Bite
(4)(5)(3) It's a hit
Flinch: (1)(4) Flareon holds on!

Bite
(4)(1) 1 Success
Evade: 4 Dex + 4 Fight + 2 evade -5 actions -1 pain = 4 dice
(5)(4)(5)(5) Flareon evades the attack, taking shelter in the maelstrom, dragging some of Apsis with it!

"Now!" the trainer yells, as Apsis rears back for one final strike.

Bite
(1) The snake misses (and Flareon evades), as Firestone hoped! Flareon leans in, never leaving the tiny arena of the fire whirlwind!

Fire Fang
10 dice, -6 actions, -1 pain = 3 dice
(4)(5)(6)
(5) Apsis takes 1 dmg 13/16hp
Flinch: (5)(4)
Burn: (4)(2)
"Grr! Still no scorching! Well, at least you got her!"

Wrap: (5)(5) Flareon takes 2 dmg 4/8hp -2 pain

As the fiery vortex spins closer, Ventus sees Apsis burning like mad in the flames! But then he hears her hiss from where Flareon disappeared into the fire...She's perfectly fine! Apsis simply shed her skin, and moved to re-wrap Flareon before it knew what happened.

Fire spin: (1)(2) No damage.

The Ace Trainer uses his one healing item, bringing Flareon to 8/8hp.

You don't have to worry about staying on the same timeline as everyone else here, so when your 8 hours of work are up you can collect your pay (nothing unusual will happen with that) and explore the city.

Little 4x4 Round 3

Bite
(3)(2)(1) Miss! Yena did not time the attack right and went right through ghostly flesh.

Acid
(2)(2)(2)(6)
(1)(4) Poochyena takes 1 dmg 5/6hp.

"Hey...why isn't that hound weakened by Oddish's Acid? Is it holding some item?"

Confuse Ray
(4)(1)(3)(4)
Poochyena is confused! Perhaps because the Dark type attack didn't work...neverthless, Yena will try again!

Yena leaps for the Duskull, her empowered fangs tearing not into the ghost...but into Duskull's dim shadow! The red light of Duskull's eye blinks out and all ghostly fear momentarily leaves the area as the threat of a scary sight is driven away by darkness.

Bite
(4)(6)
(5)(2)(2) Duskull takes 2 dmg 3/5hp -1 pain.
Flinch: (3)(1)(6)

Acid
(3)(2)(6)
(4)(1) Poochyena takes 1 dmg 4/6hp -1 pain

Duskull flinched.

Insight: (6)(2)(4) Good morning, kitten! He stretches and purrs, then remembers there's a fight going on.

For a split second a worried frown appeared on Ventus's face at seeing his sister lit up like a roman candle, but his expression soon returned to its regular serenity once it was apparent that all was well with his giant snake! "It seems we are at a stalemate at the moment, as neither of us seem to be able to gain a definitive advantage over one another, though its hardly from a lack of trying on our Pokémon's part. Still, Apsis and I will endevour to change things into our favor, slowly, surely, and safely keeping the pressure onto your Flareon. The Turtwig won the race against the Bunarey in the end, after all."

Order: 3 Bite attacks per round onto the Flareon, heal when Apsis hits 12 HP or less, and continue this pattern until Wrap expires, where she'll start using it again to get the fox within her tenacious grasp! Give back control to me when she reaches Half HP, or something 'interesting' happens....

All the trainers in the Fortress, other than the one that lets you in with a swipe of your Trainer Card, are clustered around a circular steel stage. A trainer in business casual, sporting glasses and gunmetal-blue-hair, is riding on a yellowish horselike Pokemon I don't think you've ever seen before. It has a steel saddle and helm, the trainer being perched in the former.

Seems to be some kind of demonstration, for there's no opponent up on the stage.

Inside this enormous vaulted room of steel and stone, there are many comfortable chairs and magazines (Pokemon Graph, Pokemon Pal) in a waiting area. Looks like there's an intercom system that guests can use.

Moving sidewalks lead to about a dozen different steel doors at intervals within the room. One is labeled "Training," one is labeled "Emergency Only," and the rest are blank.
