[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Nathan is rather startled when his pokedex starts beeping...

'Wha...?  Who's texting me now of all times?'

A quick check reveals this message from Shiva:

That last statement is a little disheartening to see...*sigh*...just a little...

She's still the first person who he can consider a friend, though...that wasn't going to change...he didn't want to hurt her...

Maybe it'd be fine...maybe Shiva would at least tolerate Orthros...he hoped the two of them would get along, but...well...guess that certainly wasn't happening right away...

He types out a reply to Shiva:

He'd have to figure out how and when to tell Ventus about what he's planning, though...he probably wasn't going to be pleased about it...at all...

"You seem to remember the visitor from this morning. Good, because he's traveling the region with me. Treat him, like everyone else around please, with respect unless they give you reason to stio being kind. Yes, I feel like I know about your strong psychic powers. Where I come from, sometimes, or rather very very rarely, your kind can be encountered in the wild near a mall (hint: on Unova's Route 9 in Rustling Grass, Black/Black2)... No, sorry though, I never saw one."

The hint of the visions can be controlled also kinda fascinates Shiva - though she is neither showing that on the outside, nor ask more questions about that since she feels it's too early to do so now. Maybe later, when Gothitelle obeys her orders in battle. "Now...  Since you are aware that you'll be mine after a week already, I can ask you directly. The thing is, IF you'll be coming with me - you need to cross that line. On your own. Dear one, I cannot register you to a Pokeball least of all take you with me if you keep standing here. I won't force you to do so - and rest assured that I'll respect your personal space during out path, just as I ask people to respect mine. I won't call you 'bad' or try to prevent you from defending yourself when you feel the need. What I WILL NOT accept is you harming people or other Pokemon around just because you feel like doing so. Shiva will see Nathan's reply on cell when leaving the Shelter. "Sweet, he's heading to the Department Store as well? Well, well..."

Given that she'll head to GPC first, then pharmacy + a Pokemon Battle, the chances that she'll run into Nathan accidently at the Dep.Store are very very low. She has business there to conduct none should interfere, if possible.

Hmm... Shiva mirrors her future Pokemon's reaction to the words given, bathing in meaningful silence for a little before speaking up again. "Fine. I take that that you are aware of my words brought to you. Or so I hope? Thank you, though... If you've been living in the wild so far and came here to this Shelter on your own, I won't pressure you. I'll look into becoming that very special Trainer you seem to need - but also a special friend to you, if you let me."

"I'll come back tomorrow. Before I leave, though... Would you ever be interested in stargazing with me? From a roof of the city... I have a few stellar charts in my journal, selfdrawn from my observants from a hill nearby my home...*

--------------
Shiva does have a telescope at home in Castelia. Though, as I doubt that object can be carried in a Pokeball (too many small pieces!), she left it at home. I assume one can be bought in Chreshire if there's a desire for it, but probably to a high prize only.

Nathan wasn't exactly in the mood for talking right now after what had just happened, and it seems Shiva wasn't exactly keen on looking for him either (even though he hadn't gone far...).

So, now that he'd done what he needed to here and had told Shiva where he was headed next, it was time to get going.

Off to the Department Store!  ...via Kirlia Teleporting them back to the Center so they actually know which direction they're headed in and don't get lost along the way...

Specifically, Nathan's going to pay a visit to Almanac's sales floor (with Kirlia recalled to his premier ball)...and look for a copy of their book (digital if possible) that he can flip through...

He's also going to be on the lookout for anything that can tell him a little more about this Little Cup tournament, as he has no idea what the specific rules are...or even where it's being held...

On the way to the Department Store, he finds a flyer for the Little Cup.

Rules: Only first stage Pokemon that are not fully evolved. Farfetch'd: Not allowed. Nidorino: Not allowed. Duskull: allowed.

Only three actions allowed per round.

No items.

Held at the Tournament Plateau (map included).

The tournament is 2 Pokemon per round, up to 6 in your team, single elimination (lose 2 Pokemon in a single round and you're out). You can heal in between rounds and you usually have a few hours while they wait to see who your opponent will be.

---------------------

The interior of the Department Store looks like a miniature version of Stair City. Moving walkways and (stationary) bridges crisscross the first six floors, which are all open like a mall. You can stand on the 6th floor and look out over the six floors below you. You can, if you can figure out the maze, ride an escalator from any one floor to another without getting off.

There's also an elevator, with buttons marked up to 30 floors! A convenient digital map is inside the elevator.

On the Almanac's sales floor, everything is steel. The floor is divided into large steel sub-stores, but they are all the Almanac brand. Each is covered in steel shelves and has a dedicated associate to help you out.

One whole store sells nothing but the Almanac itself, and upgrades for it. (All copies are digital).

Yeesh...all of this looked way too confusing to Nathan...signs and maps saved the day once again...good to know the rules and location of the Little Cup tournament (how many pokemon can be entered, though? And when is the tournament?  Those must be on the flyer somewhere, right?)

At the Department Store, Nathan steps on to one of the floors he wanted to least of all: Almanac's.  He'd used the elevator to get there in the end.  Odd how one of the lower floors was marked as being an Almanac Lab on that map...he certainly has no desire to go there...

But what he does want to do right now is flip through Almanac's book and see what their entries for Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevoir, and Gallade say...and flip through a couple other random entries as well so it doesn't really look like he's too interested in a particular thing...might see what they have to say about Houndour and Houndoom as well...

Edited the flyer - more info was on the back!

Each entry gives ability, hidden ability, moves and their relative difficulty to teach. Each Pokemon entry includes relative toughness of the Pokemon, down to the detail. Breeding groups, typing, etc are listed too.

The entries only show Creshire specifics.

Any product is hyperlinked to a page where you can order the product. Studies are linked to dense scientific articles.

Gallade

"Gallade, the Blade Pokemon. A wonderful weapon for those who need a little extra self-defense in their lives."
"Not found in the wild. Dawn Stone, Shiny Stone, or Almanac's trademark alternatives required for evolution from Kirlia or Ralts (see link)."
"Mega Evolution is possible with Galladite or one of Almanac's trademark alternatives."
"Gallade can be induced to protect any trainer through the judicious use of Almanac Aniseseed."

Rising Stone
"The Rising Stone is backwards compatible with the Dawn Stone, capable of evolving all the same Pokemon, guaranteed! Our newest feature: the base stage of a Pokemon can be evolved straight to third stage through use of our elemental stones!"
"Unlike the rare Dawn Stone, the artificially produced Rising Stone can be purchased at the Stair City Department Store."
List of Pokemon who can be evolved with Rising Stone:
-Kirlia
-Snorunt
Also listed is the Sparkling Stone; same thing.

Galladite A
"Galladite A can be used to create Mega Galladite A, regardless of the Pokemon's Loyalty and Happiness. Mega Galladite A has increased offensive strength. User reports of lessened defensive capability are greatly exaggerated and should be disregarded. Link to study.

Galladite N
"Galladite N can be used to create Mega Galladite N, regardless of the Pokemon's Loyalty and Happiness. Mega Galladite N has increased defensive strength. User reports of lessened offensive capability are greatly exaggerated and should be disregarded. Link to study.

Gardevoir
"Gardevoir, the Iron Grasp Pokemon. Unfortunately, previous reports by non-Almanac researchers of Gardevoir's ability to create black holes proved false. It does have a certain control over gravity through its psychic power."
"Not found in the wild. Shiny Stone, harsh training, or Almanac's trademark alternatives required for evolution from Kirlia or Ralts (see link)."
"Mega Evolution is possible with Gardevoirite or one of Almanac's trademark alternatives."
"Gardevoir can be induced to protect any trainer through the judicious use of Almanac Aniseseed."

Kirlia
"Kirlia, the Dutiful Pokemon. It is believed the horns on its head could be modified to further enhance its psychic power."
"Extremely rarely found in the wild, mostly south of the mountains."
"Kirlia can be useful as a psychic predictor of the future. N-Nightshade can be used to increase this behavior."

Ralts
"Ralts, the Sensitive Pokemon. Ralts can detect hostility and other emotions in others. It is useful as a warning device. Unfortunately, Ralts has proved in clinical trials to be strongly linked to the emotions of those nearby, feeling what they feel, which leads to undesirable levels of love and sympathy for others who could be threats."
"Seldom found in the wild, mostly south of the mountains."
"Ralts can be dissociated from its overabundant empathy through evolution and Almanac Aniseseed, or through stringent aversion therapy."

Houndour
"Houndour, the Dark Pokemon. It is adept at cornering prey, and very loyal to whomever it may consider its pack. Almanac Tip: Do whatever it takes to become this Pokemon's perceived alpha dog."
"Found in the wild on Mount Molten."

Houndoom
"Houndoom, the Dark Pokemon. The very howl of this Pokemon is enough to repel wild Pokemon. Clinical trials show that surgical alteration of its horns can increase the respect commanded by this Pokemon among other Houndour."
"Houndoom can Mega Evolve to Mega Houndoom with Houndoomite or one of Almanac's trademark alternatives." (much the same as Galladite A and N)
"Houndoom's smoke can be made more pungent through judicious use of Almanac Almonds."

Unown
"Unown, the Symbol Pokemon. Each is associated with a command in the patented Almanac Training Method (ACT). Unown communicate with a psychic power which can communicate with radios and other equipment."
"Found in the wild only in the Skull Ruins, on the barrows layer and, it is said, deeper."
"Clinical trials have demonstrated that, though weak individually, a group of Unown can spark useful amounts of power. This grouping can be controlled. Trials are still ongoing."

Bidoof
"Bidoof, the Tough Mouse Pokemon. Bidoof has nerves of steel and can stand up to incredible amounts of discomfort. This ability can be enhanced through Almanac Essential Oils from our labs in Stair City."
"Found quite commonly in the wild near Murkrow Cove and especially in the tributaries of Lake Chicory."
