[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Whoops, looks like I forget to type out the dice pool for Evasion. Doesn't matter, as it couldn't suceed anyway.

Hatcher Round 2

How sweet it was to see that her Pokemon seemingly were more confident in this battle, overly eager to show their strength, than their Master. They weren't even raised to do great in Battles... Guess Shiva had to follow and adapt to their eager then. Whether she'll fall against the Dragon or still stand there as the Dragon surrenders was still written in the stars - but at least she can later say 'I tried!'

A few white threads from her Starter in hair seemed to underline that she's not alone in here - it raised her spirits a little more, an preparations to strike back succeeded. "Nice Ember. Or, actually not as that was a bit painful to see... But did you know that the Salamence-Line has a predisposition to learn Hydro Pump in their genes? Breeding with a proper partner awakes these and enables the offspring to use this move... I find this quite amusing. Eh, well, now then... Cottonee, you probably know what to do - attack the Dragon now, please. You, Azurill - we need your Helping Hand here!"

Pain Penalizations: 1 on both Cottonee and Azurill, Shelgon is fresh but plaqued with -1 Vitality.

Accuracy Roll Helping Hand1: 3 Dext +2 Fight + 1 Perform - 1 Pain - 2 Actions = 3 d6
Effect: Adds two dice to Cottonee's next Accuracy as well as Damage Roll. That'd be...

Accuracy Roll Fairy Wind1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 1 Pain - 3 Actions + 2 HH = 6 d6
Damage Roll: 3* Strength + 2 Power of the move + 1 STAB + 2 HH = 8 d6 +1 autodamage due to SE, scary.

Repeating as second action:

Accuracy Roll Helping Hand2: 3 Dext +2 Fight + 1 Perform - 1 Pain - 3 Actions = 2 d6
Effect: Adds two dice to Cottonee's next Accuracy as well as Damage Roll. That'd be...

Accuracy Roll Fairy Wind2: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 1 Pain - 4 Actions + 2 HH = 6 d6
Damage Roll: 3* Strength + 2 Power of the move + 1 STAB + 2 HH = again 8 d6 +1 autodamage due to SE

Just in case Shelgon is still standing after this, another Fairy Wind (without Azurill's help) :

Accuracy Roll Fairy Wind3: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 1 Pain - 5 Actions = 2 d6
Damage Roll: 3* Strength + 2 Power of the move + 1 STAB = again 6 d6 +1 autodamage due to SE

Oh, right... "Cottonee, dear one, remember to hold back a little! We don't want to faint the foe here. We can play Dragon Slayer for real a different time."

"I'm originally from Wineberry, but I don't spend much time there. Beedrill! Twineedles! Lopunny! Your fastest Bounce attack! Use the environment!"

Sid Round 1

Twineedle
6* Dex + 2 Fight + 1 Canalize -4/5 actions
Accuracy: (2)(6)(6)(4)(5) - 4 successes
Evasion: 9 dice! Didn't remember you had that. -3/4 actions = 6/5 dice.
Evasion: (6)(3)(6)(4)(1)(6) Yule, with a goat's instinct, leaps up onto the rusty fencerail surrounding the lot on two sides.
Accuracy: (5)(6)(3)(2) - 2 successes
Evasion: (2)(1)(4)(1)(1)
The first needle plunges into the vines growing up the fence, but the second hits Yule.
2 Str +1 power +1 STAB -3 vit = 1d6+1
(6) Yule takes 2 dmg 4/6hp -1 pain
Poison: (1)(5)

Yule's first two actions taken up with Evasion.

Bounce
Lopunny charges along the field, long strides taking him over the grass. He leaps up on the fence after Yule, but this is just a feint on his way to jump atop the refrigerator, and then high high high into the air!

The speed of his two Pokemon is just incredible! The trainer himself is skating around and around the field, sometimes doing tricks designed for a skateboard and not inline skates, such as grinding along the fencerail. He's very excitable, but his orders are calm and collected.

Flame Charge
4 + 3 + 2 = 9 dice, -4 actions = 5 dice
(3)(3)(1)(5)(2) +1 Dex to Swiftfire
3 Str +2 power +1 STAB -3 vit = 3d6+1
(4)(6)(6) Beedrill takes 4 dmg 4/8hp, -2 pain. Roasted.

Beedrill's second action already occurred.

Yule's second action already occurred.

Bounce
6* Dex + 2 Fight +1 Brawl -5 actions = 4 dice
(6)(6)(2)(1)
2 Str + 3 power -3 vit = 2d6+1
(2)(5) Yule takes 2 dmg 2/6hp -2 pain
Paralyze: (4)(3)(4)

Fire Spin
+1 Dex from flame charge cancels out the second action penalty, then it has -2 acc
(4)(6)(1)
Also same damage.
(4)(2)(1) Beedrill takes 2 dmg 2/8hp -2 pain.
Beedrill became trapped! He whirls around and around the vortex, matching its speed, but can't find any way out!

Twineedle 3 on Yule - Swarm is active!
Accuracy (5) Only one needle even makes it out of the fiery vortex! The other is consumed.
Evasion: 9 dice, -5 actions, -2 pain = 2 dice (5)(4) Yule is able to dodge the overconfident Twineedle. He's perfectly happy to show off his dodging and climbing skills. Much more important than a subpar offensive move like Tackle. He looks to Swiftfire to see what she thinks of it. Sheathed in flames, she tosses her head at him encouragingly - at least as far as battling is concerned. She looks magnificent, having taken no damage so far!

"Lopunny, they'll be coming for you next! Defense Curl!"

Defense Curl
(2)(1)(1) Lopunny, still on the run, ducks into a ball. But he's going a bit too fast and hits a stone, disrupting his concentration and uncurling.

"No problem, just try one more time!"

Ember
(6)(5)(2)(6)
(6)(3)(1) Beedrill faints!

Yule only declared 3 actions. He baaaas back at Swiftfire and prances along his fence, almost getting in the way of Sid.

Defense Curl
(2)(1)

Ember 4
(3)(2)(4)
(5)(4)(1) Lopunny takes 2 dmg 5/7hp -1 pain.
Burn: (2)

Sid Round 2

Alone in the empty lot, these two trainers get to witness one of the fastest paced battles ever seen in the Steel City!

Sid hefts another Pokeball and sends it onto the field without pause. Is Nathan making any switches?

They have Antidotes and Full Heals at the usual price. They also have an unusual item, a Battlefield Control item. It functions like a specialty Safeguard, preventing all Pokemon on the field from becoming poisoned for 4 rounds. It costs $1200 for a bottle containing two uses, though!

Hatcher Round 2

"Well, I certainly wouldn't use Hydro Pump on a Cottonee! And wow, it takes a long time for a Shelgon to evolve...not something I would want to do again! Every day I carried him up Mount Sentry, and as he grew stronger, so did I!"

Helping Hand 1
(2)(5)(4)

Fairy Wind 1
(5)(2)(6)(5)(4)(4) Ohhhh daannnnng. Azurill lures Shelgon out of defensive mode by passing quite close to him - quite fearlessly! And that's when Cottonee attacks.
He has 3* vit.
(2)(5)(6)(2)(2)(1)(6) Shelgon takes 4 dmg 6/10hp -1 pain.

"What a combination! I don't know which one to take down first...think it'll have to be Cottonee!"

Ember 1
(3)(1)(5)(6)(1)
(4)(2) Cottonee takes another 2 dmg 2/6hp -2 pain.

Helping Hand 2
(3)(3) Shelgon's not falling for that trick again!

Fairy Wind 2
(6)(2)(6)
(6)(2)(2)(5) b]Shelgon takes 3 dmg[/b] 3/10hp -2 pain.

"Shelgon, break up the combination."

Headbutt 2 on Azurill
(5)(5)(5)
3 Str +3 power -3 vit
(4)(2)(1) Azurill takes 1 dmg 3/6hp -2 pain
Flinch Chance: (2)(5)(2)

Fairy Wind 3
(4)(5)
(5)(3)(2)(4) Shelgon is out of the battle.

4XP to Shiva, and 3XP each to Cottonee and Azurill! Cottonee gains 1 Happiness from fulfilling her role as Dragonslayer! She's been looking forward to such a thing since day 1.

"Just two antidotes thank you. I dont have much money to buy that item (200 pokedollar out)." Heart then go to the Held items floor. Except Rose, no other Pokemon in his team have any held item (expect of course Viktor who still holding the Maranga berry). He think he would find something to give extra power to his pokemon, or something to increase defencive.

Their selection of traditional, battle-relevant Held Items is quite limited, and mostly having to do with metal. Or other items they can manufacture reliably. Most held items have a touch of power to them that humans can't reliably replicate.

Hard Stone: $500
Magnet: $2000
Metal Coat: $3000
Sharp Beak: $750
Rocky Helmet: $2500
Wide Lens: $1275

(EEEEEEHHHHH Cottonee is just one point away from being perfectly happy and loyal!)

...How even more sweet. It didn't take that much to take down the Dragon, actually... She made it, alongside her Pokemon... Shiva gains a very shy +1 in Self-Confidence (Not really).

The first thing she does after realizing at all that what has happened - this battle went to fast and it only grew tougher after Azurill and Cottonee landed the first hit! - was entangling bother her battled Pokemon in a tight appreciating group hug (including Snubbull who was sticking to her side during battle if she likes), regardless of them panting and clearly looking exhausted. However, they also looked over delighted, especially Cottonee - she playful-mischievous rubbed her fluff against her Master's cheek. Shiva didn't fight that at all, as such a closure was warming her faint heart. Maybe, in some careful way, it was the right decision to succumb to the persuasion from home to come to Chreshire?

Once the instant strike of celebrating the success has passed, Shiva adressed her foe once again, before he'd leave. "Hehe... Was this, eh, enough of a 'fierce battle'? I didn't expect it to be over that fast, neither to win at all... Sorry that I fainted your Shelgon in the end, though! I hope he learned something, as you desired... Well then, thanks for the battle and the 300$, see you!~"

Both Azurill and Cottonee are recalled into their Pokeballs. "Rest assured, as you deserve it... I'll let you enjoy the Healing Machine at the evening, when I'll be back at the Center." ... "Now, Snubbull... Shall we move on then?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next selected aim was the Department Store. To find a new Master for Snubbull, see what neat items they sell there, ('Could it compete with Shopping Mall Nine?'), and generally enjoy the trip before work at the Shelter starts tomorrow... Not that Shiva does have much cash to buy a lot of this from the Store, though. Doesn't matter, as window shopping is nice as well.

After learning about what floor sells what at an info point - the mentioning of Almanac's sales point located at the 12th floor and their lab down at the base triggered a weird unreadable expression, mixed with a trace of curiosity - she took the elevator up to the highest floor, where Pokemon and goods can be traded. Giving a few scratches behind the ears to Snubbull, as the time to...part is likely coming... "What kind of new owner would you like more, Snubbull? Someone who will hold battles with you and look into teaching you bravery, or a pleasant home where you can enjoy peace, a safe warm sleeping place and lots of love?"

Whatever it was, the offer she puts up reads as following:
Quote:Hi. I happen to have a female Snubbull to trade... It's from the Running, I did encounter it in the mountains instead of in Ginger Town though. [Image: Spr_3r_209.png]
She's disobediant and might not listen to any battle orders at first. With enough care she should taw rather soon though. Sadly, I lack he time to do so as I'm busy with other things, so I'm hoping to find a good new owner here. Preferably trading for either money or a bunch of items.

Ability is Run Away; she knows Tackle, Headbutt and Scary Face. I never battled her by myself.

If interested, I'm lurking at this floor anyway with this Pokemon, so look out for me.

(Swiftfire had 4 actions.  Should be a second Ember in there, right? And nope, no switches yet.)

"Wineberry, huh?  Not what I expected...I'm from Trillium myself."

"Great job, Swiftfire!  Excellent work, as always!  And that was some great dodging, Yule.  Ready for the next opponent, you two?"

A young girl in her early teens comes up to Shiva. She's carrying a Dagny's Gym lunchbox, and she's accompanied by her father, who is wearing a League cap and a stern but encouraging expression. He hangs back.

"Are you the one with the Snubbull? Oh...I'm looking to purchase my first Pokemon. I really wanted a Fairy type who could play with me as well as help me catch others. Daddy says having a disobedient Pokemon builds character and teaches life lessons. But Daddy says an untrained and fairly common Pokemon isn't worth more than $1000. So that's what I brought; I've been saving up. What do you think? And Snubbull, what do you think?"

Snubbull just looks longingly out the window, but makes no protest.

"Oh, don't worry, I'll take you on plenty of walks and adventures. Just another year and I'll be old enough to travel by myself. In the meantime, we'll train up and get to know each other."
