(I said that I wanted to think of alternatives to food when acquirering a Pokemon!~ I could also just level-up right here to give the Acquirering Roll another dice, but I'd rather not do that unless this Eeeveelution becomes really stubborn)

"Not interested, huh? Well, I HAVE WAY MORE! How about THIS? This is quite a special water, different from this water you are hiding in, just take a look at it... Did you come to this swamp as an Eevee? Now though, SHOW YOURSELF! PLEASE?"

Looks like the bottle of the crystalline water is being sunken into the puddle too, but Shiva still does still have some of it in the spraying bottle she purchased earlier (plus, she'll look into obtaining her stuff back from the puddle once Vapreon is hers). That one is kept semi-hidden in one pocket of the Ranger's cloak she's wearing, while she already prepared a few Pokeballs unvisible in the other. If Vapreon emerges now, it'll directly receive a mischievous-playful spray of the water - it likely has Water Absorb Ability, so it really should be able to get the playful gesture here!

Curious why you haven't attacked yet, the graceful Vaporeon surfaces. The pure water you spray is indeed absorbed, and a look of wonder passes over Vaporeon's face.

It's indeed a Vapreon, eeeeeek!~ And what a beautiful one... Shiva didn't even care to hold an amazed and sweet smile back when it faced her in shy curiosity. Yet, she doesn't dare to extend a hand to attempt petting its forehead.

Immediately, the tone of her voice got softer, but it was not loosing a playful tone. "What else I, just a random human paying visit, has in store you wonder? Well, waaay more if you want it that way..." More now carefully rummaging in bagpack, before in a swift movement a flowercrown featuring a courful assortment of wildflowers has been placed onto Vaporeon's head... "Hehe... You look quite well like that. You seem to be a prankster, and I like that, you deserve to be crowned as you sucessfully fooled me and my other Pokemon... But it feels others don't see us as something to be taken seriously because of that... 'We're just playing along'. How BADLY I want to summon the Rain and show them we're business..."

No more words, what followed was just a facing this Vapreon back in a waiting and warm expression.


(I bought two of these artificial flowercrown at the Custom Clothing Store on Route 4, remember? One was for Azurill to wear. The other, for situations like this to use as a gift?)

Vaporeon cocks her head. Summon rain? Like this?

A thin coating of water appears over Vaporeon's body, slowly trickling down and being absorbed.
Hm, that didn't really seem like it would count as rain.

Awww! Now such a cute demonstration deserves a cheerful chuckle and a careful pat over this waterly Eeeveelution's forehead, and this time Shiva feels bold enough to give in to both.

Wait a  moment, was that Aqua Ring? "You'd be... so useful against Dagny... Whoahw, hey, no, not like this, dear one... But that's quite a cool trick you have there! No, I mean summon rain FOR REAL! In once met a member of your species held in an Aquarium - it looked like it enjoyed life. Humans came by, admiring it and having it show what it was capable of - it was able to, well, let it rain as best as possible indoors. I want to do that too - with the blue mouse of mine you smacked away. But not indoors, OUTDOORS! What do you think of that... Interested in SUCH a trick?"

Vaporeon is a bit interested in that trick, but doesn't seem to want to leave this lovely swamp to do it!

"Not warming up, huh? Well, well... This swamp IS lovely, actually - if one would look away from plants that give you stomach ache despite having a pleasant taste..." At least Shiva had this Vapreon's attention.

Vaporeon... "Say, graceful yet mischievous one..." *more careful petting and stroking if accepted, keeping a Pokeball still hidden away - the Ranger's cloak was probably decorated with stains of mud and splashes of water meanwhile* "Did you come here as an Eevee? Do you remember being a fluffy brown and smaller creature? I know these creatures well - in fact, I own one by myself! It has a back fur for quite a while now - but parts of its fur GLOW occasionally. Not something you can do with your fins, can you?~ My fave trick of her is casting a wish, though. She just stares up to the sky as if watching something we cannot see - or maybe she's summoning a shooting star? - a little later, she seems happy and any pain is gone with the wind."

"I COULD help you learning such a trick as well, if you'd like... No?"

Mechanics:
This IS a tough shell indeed, but I'm not yet out of resources! Exploiting Shiva's background now? 'Her' Umbreon knows and prefected Wish and Shiva does know a bit of the mechanics of this move - probably not enough to tutor this move though. But nothing holds her from offering Vaporeon learning this trick, as it's a valid thing Shiva could do after the journey through Chresire.

Vaporeon's eyes sparkle at the mention of Wish. This swamp creature has lots of dreams! You've promised her a lot: Rain Dance, Wish, flowers, lots of time outdoors.

Vaporeon is going to hold that tarnwater too (no mechanical effect at the moment).

To show she accepts your complicated offer, she lets you pet her, then dives down to retrieve your Iron Ball.

That smile Shiva was displaying only grew sweeter as that Vapreon considered and eventually rubbed herself against the hand carefully extended! It's not as bright as Ven's Dazzling Smiles® though, as Shiva's lacking the confidence for such a thing. "Good decision, dear one... I'd need to register you to... Huh?" Out of sight the Vapreon was again, and for one moment Shiva that everything was just a massive prank. Next moment, Vaporeon emerged again though to her relief and joy, but relucant to give this special clear water back. "Oh... I see, keep it for yourself then! Maybe one day we can visit the place I have this water from - TOGETHER!" *unnecessary strong highlighting of this word when speaking it out* The Iron Ball has been accepted back as well. Now it was all wet though, hopefully this won't cause rusty spots...

She actually spend several more minutes playing and carefully bonding with this new Vaporeon, completely missing out any troubles at the campsite as well the party learning about Ven's new Pokemon - like, carefully introducing her to Azurill and ending up playing hide-and-seek among the mangroves (most of the times, Vaporeon wins), fetching of a cut of root, encouraging her to eat dried berries from Shiva's hand, and overall not minding the stains of mud a on her Ranger's cloak (needs to be washed clean later). Registering Vaporeon to a Pokeball is involved as well, but she's being called out right away and immediately stares at Shiva with tail twitching and an expression that more than clearly (for Shiva, that is) said 'Do we gonna learn some cool things now?' "Haha, no, not right away, dear one... Later. But, eventually, promised! Currently, circumstances are keeping me busy and I do not want to teach you half-hearted, would I? So... Please rest in safety for a little now... You'll get some GOOD action and stage to perform yourself in a real battle sooner or later. Okay?"

Along the way, still not nearby the camp, curiosity caught Shiva and she couldn't help but to look up what the Almanac had to say about Vaporeon especially... (I won't do that everytime)

Mechanics:
Actually, Vaporeon is sent to the PC. I really liked this Encounter and look forward to use an Eeveelution when it feel like doing so/it's useful, but before I get to a new Pokemon I'd like to train Poochyena to have him prepared when facing Ghost Types becomes a real thing = gathering XP to pay for Suprise.

Also, just out of curiosity/wondering, what reasons the 1 Loyalty instead of 2? Is Vaporeon more interested in the tricks Shiva is capable to teach than in the wellbeing of her new owner? (Oh right, I gladly jump on that Vaporeon is female as well!)

Exactly, Vaporeon's coming with you is sort of "conditional" in a way.

Before the day ends, I'd like to hear how your camp is set up. This is a dangerous area and for once just your tent MIGHT not be enough.


Vaporeon
Vaporeon, the Water Molecule Pokemon. Vaporeon is extremely useful in lab research, able to slip through almost any crack, and capable of providing a specimen for all sorts of molecular research. Also useful for weather prediction, aquatic transportation, water control. When adapted, Vaporeon's jets can even cut through steel in a factory setting.
Vaporeon is very rarely found in the wild, near any body of water. They seem to prefer clean water for some reason.
Vaporeon evolves from the rare Eevee using a Water Stone or Almanac's alternative, the Aqua Stone.
