Kirlia's panting.  Not from pain, since he's not feeling any, but from the sheer speed of his actions over the last 18 seconds.  He gives Abaddon (not Ventus) an appreciative look for blocking most of the poison and all of those nasty, nasty statuses.

Whew...serves those walking stomachs right...

Nathan's finally got a handle on Swiftfire again.  Masq has taken roost in a nearby tree, still following his original orders to keep watch.

Nathan's also looking at that Mutios effigy again, offering a silent thanks to the Yin pokemon.  He's both relieved and scared right now...it's a delicate balance on a knife's edge...

Braixen is pulled closer into another hug again, this time out of joy instead out of fear, while Nightshade did as being asked to and retreated to Master's arms with a hearty leap, where she got herself comfy among Master and the fox's fur. (Cherubi is not withdrawn into her Pokeball - will need her to jump in right away if Poochyena faints) "Excellent display of your bite force there, Yena, keep it on like that please! Your training on that Kong seems to have paid off."

Heart sigh a bit after the results, but he was more worry about Viktor condition. "Viktor return! You did your best little buddy, and you deserve some rest. Dont blame yourself, the enemy is simple strong..." Heart sighs then looks to Shiva. "Dont worry Shiva, I not give up yet! Gustav! Show your strengh!" Then Clauncher came showing his strengh. "Gustav lets begin using Bubbles against Whiscash! Two times!"

Shiva, this is Lilith, the newest member of my family, and she's apparently an extremely rare species of Pokémon that is native to Baykai Forest in Tandor, or at least that is what Heart told me. I managed to convince her to join me peacefully via appealing to her sweet tooth with Honey, so I'm quite glad of that preference of hers, all things considered!"

The blue demon then waddled over to his master's side, who let out a sigh of relief at with the swift ease both his child and Kirlia subdued the pair of Poisonous Punching Bags, and mutter a quiet prayer of thanks to his own patron diety Reshirim: "My thanks Reshirim for the fast resolution of this battle, and protecting all of us from the worst that could have happened. May you Flames of Truth light our path in the future..."

Ventus then leaned down and gave Abaddon a loving hug as his own thanks for their efforts, simply saying to them: "Thank you, my child. You have grown so strong in so little time, and I couldn't be more proud of you than I am now. How about I make you something delicious later when we have exited this blasted swamp, for all you have accomplished today and in the past?" After that touching moment he returned them to their Pokeball, and his relieved expression started to fade away as he glanced at how Nathan/Kirlia's and their emotions to see how they were doing, and almost letting out a sigh of frustration at the disdain + fear he felt from either of them. 'Abaddon and I have bailed them out of an almost literally Toxic situation with that Swallot and Gulpin, and they still doubt my intentions? I know trust and belief are rather in short supply for the two, but by Reshirim just because I think ill of Nathan does not me I wish them so!' he thought to himself, clearly displeased with their constant skittishness, until a thought struck him. 'Hmm.....perhaps that would work....'

Thinking it over for a few more moments, the empath then nodded his head, before plodding through the swamp towards Kirlia, standing right in right in front of them silently for a few seconds....before he flicked his wrist and palm an Oran Berry, crouched down to the dancer's level, and handed it to them. "I noticed you got injured by that Swallot's Body Slam, so take this to fully recover your health. .....I also want to thank you for supporting my son as he fought alongside you, Kirlia. Without your assistance, he would have fair much worse against those Poison types, so again, you have my sincere gratitude," the researcher said to him, a wane smile accompanying it with woleheartedly honesty. Ventus then stood up and walked over to Nathan, and simply asked them: "Are you alright, Nathan?"

Maybe, uhm, it was a good decision to directly to the swamp instead of searching for Route 10...? Eh... D-Doesn't matter, take good care of her, and you HAVE TO do a friendly battle with her on your side 'gainst me sometime later!!! When we're less busy saving the region, that is... Okay? Pleeeeease!"

Shiva was way too close and kept on staring directly into his eyes while her own hidden away behind glasses barely managed to conceal the same sparkle they had when she encountered that playful-mischievous Vaporeon. She'll keep him in the hug until she got an answer, not minding that some of the muddy stains might transfer to his sweater!


(NOTE: Heart would get the exact same reaction if he'd caught Quetzoral, just a little honed down in familiarness. Same with Nathan. I'm not quite sure about Valder.)

Ven's breath almost hitched when she nearly returned his term of endearment to him and gave him a surprise snuggle, but he quickly managed to surpress the reaction and any emotions before they could become apparent to them, and silently returned the hug with a somewhat nervous smile. Shiva's next remark pleasantly startled him too, as the decision to forge through the wretched humid swamp was even more of a positive decision than he first thought it was. 'That loathsome boy got blessed by Reshirim and captured a Shiny Unfezant, Heart obtained a rare and timid Mudkip, I convinced an extremely rare Quetzoral to join my family, and Shiva has even persuaded a Vaporeon to join her team! While our journey was spurned resolving a crisis, it has been a fruitfull one for all of us already thus far,' he initially thought, giving the mystical lass a nod in response.

Her desire for a friendly spar with him and Lilith, however, was an entirely unexpected, but none of the less he was able to easily respond to her eagerness, along with giving them a light chuckle and an affectionate head rub. "Their is no need for the Baby Doll Eyes, dear, for I'm more than wiling to have another delightful engagement with you, anytime you wish. Well, not now of course, since I imagine we are both exhausted from our slog through the swamp and its inhabitants, but perhaps when we reach Arrowroot? How does that sound?"

Ventus is left speechless as Nathan finally and inevitably broke down in front of him.

The empath had no comforting words to give the careworn boy in front of him, the distance and animosity he built up between himself and them making a normally easy task seem insurmountable to him.

He hadn't forgiven them for forcing Orthros onto him and Shiva, nor for the emotional distress he caused to the both of them in relatively recents times, and doubted he would anytime soon.

However, despite his reservation, despite his grudges, despite all the bullheaded, hurtful things the boy said in front of him....

"...."

Slowly, with great deliberation and utmost care, Ventus leans over and gave Nathan a hug, and stayed their with him as they cried their heart out, and emptied themselves of the vast, toxic quantities of feeling that lay deep within him.

....he could not leave this boy to suffer alone in his distraught state.

Nobody deserved that.

Especially not someone of his age.

History would not repeat before his eyes.
