Once he received their approval, Ventus briskly moved towards the fallen Breloom, slowly croached down over it and told them: "Be calm, Breloom, I'm only here to treat your Paralysis," before pulling out his Paralyze Heal and using it on them to cure them of the status and, after another second of though, pull out an Oran Berry and handed it to them. "There! Now you should be able to move around unimpeded, and that Oran will at least alleviate some of the Pain you are suffering. I thank you for giving my brother Michael a terrific fight, and I pray that you will grow ever stronger from this defeat, and continue to thrive out here in this harsh environment," the empath said to them, holding out a hand to them in a gesture to help them up from off the ground.

Breloom accepts, hops up, and hops away into the swamp without a look back. Such is the way of the swamp.

"Ahh! Ok...trying to hold still...a little panicky..."

Sunny Day
(2)(2)(1)(1)(2)(5) The sunlight turns harsh. The swamp steams, and the man sinks past his armpits.

Mega Drain 1
(5)(4)(1)(5)(3)
2 Str +2 power + 1 STAB
(1)(1)(4)(3)(6) Two successes, with a little luck. Cottonee is really struggling though to pick up enough moisture to make a difference.

Leech Seed 1
(5)(2)(2)(5)(2)(2)
Leech Seed is much more effective! The little seeds send out questing roots which serve both to dry up the area and to provide a slight fibrous network of support.

MD 2
(5)(2)(2)(1)
(6)(5)(4)(4)(5) 5 + 2 Successes! The line between quicksand and sand is fine indeed. With a nice attack like that, Cottonee is starting to make good progress, and it's looking like the plan has a chance of working!

Leech Seed 2
(6)(4)(4)(1)(4)
Another 20' section of sand takes root, while the earlier section is starting to sprout.

Mega Drain 3
(2)(5)(1)
(6)(6)(1)(3)(3) A total of 9 successes. We'll call it 3 across each segment.

Leech Seed Final
(2)(4)(5)(2)

There's a seeded path now, however shaky! It looks like it will be like running on Jello, but Shiva thinks it will support her weight for a short time!

"Panicky? Well, I am doing such a thing for the first time in mah life as well, and I'M NERVOUS LIKE NOTHIN', but THAT DOESN'T ANY OF US! Just...stay calm, and we'll both get outta here..."

Her Grass Types did a very fine job and now it seems like it'll depend on her... Let's pray her dormant inner performer, Lucky Chant, trust in her Pokemon and a will to help in whatever way possible will bring her save to the other side... "Nightshade, back to you Pokeball. You did an amazing job and I might need you again in no time, but for now I need free arms... Cottonee, you float over there ahead... There, to these roots that look like they're oozing stuff. You, Braixen, Sarah, stay right here please... I...I'll return, okay? "

(Probably needs a Roll to get over that seeded jello-like path? ONCE arrived, all that's left is that 30' that seperates me from that guy, right? I doubt Azurill could fling her tail THAT far, can she?)

This sounds like a Dexterity + Survival roll to me! At -3 because of how crazy this thing is!

(5)(1)

Shiva runs across, the path reverting to quicksand at every step behind her! She can't stop now...a little further...yes! Shiva gains the relative safety of the roots in no time, grabbing the floating Cottonee for a little support!

What's left of the sap actually helps balance a little.

The Pokedex for Ruby actually tells us a bit about Azurill's lasso, didn't even see this when I designed the encounter.

"Azurill spins its tail as if it were a lasso, then hurls it far. The momentum of the throw sends its body flying, too. Using this unique action, one of these Pokémon managed to hurl itself a record 33 feet."

So 30 feet under questionable circumstances isn't very likely. But if she can get a bit closer, she can reach the man...but then of course she'll be out there in the quicksand.

Azurill is 8 inches tall, and her tail is about 5 or 6 of her bodylengths...so if Shiva's also holding on, an Azurill lasso can probably only go about 10'. Less without Shiva's help.

(This crazy thing has even worked! ( ÒωÓ)و☆)

Hell... Pretty sure she never had such a high adrenaline level in her blood, but now there is no turning back. Fine... because like she'd back away now! However, she'll probably be out of breath once things settle down.

"SEE? I'M GETTING.... CLOSER TO YA... Just wait and... damn..." As foreshadowed, Nightshade gets summoned to the scene again, Cottonee was already present, and now even Azurill gets called out of her Pokeball as well - she'll be important. Once the preperations suceed, that it...

"K... Both of you, Cottonee and Nightshade, repeat what you just did. Create some patches of dehydrated sand and solidify it by seeding it, make sure to concentrate on the same spot... Start with the first spot 5' from here, notify me once you've done with it, please... Meanwhile, I'll cut off these roots here (using that kitchen knife that Ven snatched while making Poffins, it's still in my possession) and hand them to you, Cottonee, you float over and add them to create some sort of spot where I can stand on. We need...4 of these patches in total..."

"With standing on the last one, Azurill, I'll need you, your tail-lasso and your Huge Power to pull THAT GUY *dramatically points to him* outta there... Alright? For one time, we both need to be brave..."

---------------
Mechanics:
Clear enough? Quicksand normally isn't deeper than a few feet, so it should be doable to create a small patch using MegaDrain-LeechSeed-Combo again where Shiva can stand on for a few moments without sinking in (or at least, without sinking in too deep to not be able to free herself). Adding roots to increase foothold. Four of these patches every 5', the last one will be 10' away from that guy... Where Azurill can grab him with her tail and HOPEFULLY pull him out with Huge Power and Helping hand combined.

If that is not possible or feels way too unlikely to succeed, stop and rethink until Monday.

Shiva looks around, as requested, for natural resources!

Insight + Survival + Alert
(6)(4)(3)(2)(6)(4) Four successes.

From her vantage point on the spruce root ball, Shiva sees a few things:

1. The remains of an old campfire on the very edge of the quicksand, about even with Shiva's current position. There's a backpack sitting there and lots of half-burnt logs. A forked stick and a weird shovel poke out of the backpack.
2. Lots and lots of hog peanut growing everywhere, and a few thicker honeysuckle vines. None look strong enough to support a human's weight.
3. Geodude! He has showed up out of curiosity and is eyeing the quicksand with immense distaste. Ground, water, and grass all in one substance?!?
4. Peat moss on every side, studded with boulders. This squishy sphagnum moss often hides swamp dangers such as quicksand.
5. The aforementioned spruce trees, most of them pole size
6. The sticky pliable roots she's standing on

In the midst of all that training, observing how Swiftfire is adjusting to her new; bigger; and more powerful form, Nathan can't help but think of the Rapidash and Ponyta currently at Stair City and at...home...

...wait, why did he feel like he'd forgotten to do something?

He has to think for a little while about that...

...and then it clicks.

Shoot!  He'd forgotten to call his mom and tell her he wasn't in Stair any more!

That, and she'd probably be really happy to hear Swiftfire finally evolved.

Does he even have any kind of cell signal in the middle of this swamp in the most remote corner of Creshire, though?

Nope, no cell signal! The walkie-talkie mode is working, however, with a range of about a quarter mile. All cell phones and Pokedexes can have this mode (it was popular in the 90's in real life), but the Almanac definitely does not have it.

"SEE? I'M GETTING.... CLOSER TO YA... Just wait and... try to calm yourself... damn..." Cottonee was already present and eagerly and questioning looked to her Master, Nightshade was back in her Pokeball just like Braixen (that's another edit I'd like to make), while Sarah the Ponyta was watching the scene pretty unimpressed from the spot Shiva came from.

Hehe... Now she was here... around 10 metre seperated her from that guy... It needed one single glance on Geodude to know for sure that he will NOT help her. Well, not blaming... "Fine, you stay back. I'm probably just as eager as you are to avoid contact with that...sand. But, don't go, alright? Might need your strenght for something else... I'll reward you for your effort. K?"

Things are pretty much pointing into one option... She pretty much disliked this idea, but it seemed to be the one most likely to succeed... But before that: "HEY, YOU! Listen, does this bagpack and stuff belong to you? Do you actually have some kind of rope or such in there?"
