Another mental note: Buy an Escape Rope as soon as possible. Might not know when or how it'll be needed. (They're not listed in Inventory! Can those be bought, and how much does one cost?)

"Eh... Nope, that I'll go THAT way... Do forgive me, nature, but it's for a greater good... I'M ON IT, JUST...KEEP QUIET THERE, ALRIGHT? LISTEN... I'll... I'm going to log one of these trees *points to the pole-sized spruce trees*, make sure that it falls into the desired direction and... WHEN YOU'RE IN REACH, GET A HOLD OF IT, OKAY? I'll... pull you out there...somehow..."

Though, Shiva had no move on hand that might log one of these trees fast - another short and sharp pain ran through her at the thought that her Pancham might easily do so with a Drain Punch... so small and young, yet so strong... eh... - and her fluffball is far from casting a hurricane over the area... Eh, maybe better this way as she end up logging more trees than desired or similar mischief.

...Though, what she had on hand, WAS FIREPOWER! In a pretty swift movement Braixen has been called out, and he too looked at his Master wondering what was wrong. Master seemed distressed, yet eager... "Now, Braixen, I need your help again... Hehe... We're going to log... let's see... Ah! THIS spruce here." pointing to the one most nearby* "Try to canalize your Embers in a way that you do not set the tree...on fire, okay? Concentrate on its base... YOU, Cottonee, as soon as the tree falls, you please make sure it falls into THIS direction a little aside from that guy, okay? YOU, dear Geodude... Would you be so kind to stabilize the tree until it falls and help bringing it into the right drection, which is... near that guy over there? Not TOO near, though!!!"

Mechanics:
I hope I phrased it understandable, and even more I hope this works. Lucky Chant is still active, same with harsh sunlight.

Shooooooot!  He was DEFINITELY going to get an earful from his mom about this later...she was going to be way, way too worried after a few days of him not contacting her in any way...she could assume the worst, coe looking herself, fidget for hours on end just wondering what happened to him...any number of things could happen...

He REALLY should have remembered to try this sooner...uuugggghhh....

...welp, back to clearing the campsite of the long grasses and drying the wet patches of ground...and possibly joining Kirlia in meditation to try and calm down a little...

There's definitely potential to get a tree into play.

Ember 1
(6)(1)(6)(5)(6)
(4)(3)(3)(5)(3)(1)(4) - 3 Successes. Good call on fire + sunny day!
Braixen is about halfway through the tree necessary part of the tree already. Geodude locks his arms to stabilize it.

The man's arms are completely submerged now. He can only watch helplessly.

Ember 2
(1)(4)(3)(1)
(5)(1)(5)(5)(1)(5)(1) Lucky day! The tree burns through after only two Embers.

Geodude and Cottonee can just make strength rolls to drop it, Cottonee using Fairy Wind.

(2)(4)
(5)(3)(1)

It drops right near the guy's head! He can't grab it, though, because his arms are trapped!

Oh lucky day indeed! It worked pleasantly... Well, except the part that she missed that this guy cannot really grab the tree. Shoot.

"Ehm... SEE? I'M ON IT! Somehow... Is there no chance you can at least try to get your arms free? I'll...help you on this with another Pokemon!~ Eh, don't mind it's weirdness and the dust it scatters."

Yena has been called out to the scene as well in another swift movement! Yeah, Shiva's definetely encouraged by that partial succeess. "So, need your help as well... See THAT guy overthere?" *dramatically points to him* Go over that logged tree, to him, and carefully use Sand Attack  to free at least his arms. Can you do that?"

Accuracy Roll Sand Attack: Ohh, it uses Channel-Speciality! Nice. Three times is it then.
Sand Attack 1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 3 Actions = 5d6
Sand Attack 2: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 4 Actions = 4d6
Sand Attack 3: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 5 Actions = 3d6

Oh, that is a good idea.

"It's...it's Tandal! But that's not important right now!"

Sand Attack 1
(6)(1)(4)(1)(1)

Sand Attack 2
(5)(3)(6)(6)

Sand Attack 3
(1)(4)(5)

With three successful attacks, the man manages to get his arms free and grab the branch! With Huge Power + Shiva + Poochyena, Tandal slides smoothly out of the quicksand and claws his way to the roots where Shiva waits. He immediately bows low from the waist.

"Tandal Escartress is in your debt! I shall not question whether wise ma'am has a plan to get us off this root ball!"

OF COURSE her Poochyena earns a tight and appreciating hug from his Master! Feels good to cuddle him while he's still a puppy and no full-grown Mightyena. Maybe one day he will...

Tandal however, earns both an amused and a very weird look. "Eh... You don't have to be in my debt or such... Like, did you thought I'd let you rot there? Hell... But...that was pretty awesome." Slowly, the adrenaline level got down and made room for a weird feeling - looks like she had the sensation that she INDEED managed to rescue that guy from quicksand. SHE. On her own... neat...

However, that didn't lasted long. Right, there was still quicksand behind them... 30 foot = approximately 18 metre. Sarah was resting over there in all peace.

"Uhm... Do you have any Pokemon on hand, actually? If not, we might have to log another long enough tree and use it as a bridge after having dehydrated the sand with fire enough to prevent us sinking in as we walk..."

"I have a Totodile, Ma'am. And Gloom, and Yanma, and Pansear. Oh, and, uh, an Egg. Totodile can swim in the sand for a short time. Yanma of course can fly above it, but can't carry my weight."

"And Egg? Cool... So... You're coming with me, to begin with. Okay? I'm actually traveling with four other people through this swamp, we're on the way to Arrowroot Village. You can tell me more later, for example how you ended up being trapped in there, hmm? If you like, of course... But at first, gather your stuff, even if there's nothing in there that migh need protection... And you are stained in quicksand still. ... ... ... *sigh* Here." The whole time, Shiva was still wearing her Ranger's cloak - well, until now, since now Tandal gets it handed over to put on. "Don't mind a few muddy stains. And... No need to adress me that formally! Just... ehm... call me Shiva, like others do. Fine? When you're done, please call out that Yanma and Pansear. Meanwhile, I'll see whether we cannot find another tree to log... Oh my..."

Mechanics1:
If there is a nearby tree suitable to serve as a bridge for a short time, we'll have to log that as well to get over to the other side... Again with Braixen's Embers, Pansear can help on this. Same with Cottonee and Geodude (if he agrees again). Same Rolls.

"If all that works, prepare to run over to the other side... To keep the balance, rely on your Yanma's help, okay? I'll use my Cottonee for the same purpose. Okay, dear one? I crtainly had enough quicksand  for today."

Mechanics2:
If that is not doable or way too risky, stop and think again. Almost solves successfully...

"That's a great idea, Miss Shiva. Yanma can definitely provide balance. I might also suggest cutting down two trees for an easier bridge - we can place one foot on each bridge. I'll show you. Totodile, Slash! Yanma, Air Slash!"

A flash of light. The trees come down. Tandal waddles across, making tiny hops from tree to tree, each one sending him forward.

Shiva can easily follow suit with Cottonee's help. No roll needed.

"I do believe I could have gotten out of the quicksand if I could have reached my Apricorns. But I was already too deep to reach my belt! So thank you once again, Miss Shiva."

He hoists up his backpack. He offers Shiva the forked stick if she needs it to hike with. "Good for balance, good for testing the ground, and GREAT for digging up tubers! Arrowroot Village is this way." He sets off.

Before too long, Shiva smells a horrible stench coming from a marshy field of bulbous red plants! "That is a malaise, Miss Shiva. A group of Gloom...whoa, that one is HUGE!"

It's true! A Gloom the size of a very overweight person comes lumbering out of the muck, head tilted forward to balance out the massive flower buds.

The rest of the Gloom seem disinclined to come up out of the ground...for now.
