[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Tandal doesn't care what Heart thinks Escartress' ability is.

"The ends of the earth? That might be a loose translation of our oldest name for this swamp: Hangoari Whennua, the Base of the Swine's Tusk. The Carved Tusk is Creshire, Whenua, the land... actually, not just the soil but everything on it. The other 'end of the earth' would then be 'Whennua Huiy Ihiy'... this is hard to explain. It is the tip of the Tusk... but the Tusk's tip is a mountain. But it is also the tip of a spear, and all the force that implies. But it is also a place, a 'meeting place.' That would be the literal translation. I do not know where this might be, somewhere on the west coast of Creshire."

"'The beginning of the land' I do not know at all, unless it be another way to say the first end of the earth. In a way, the Swamp is the cultural origin point of the Mamo universe. Those who journey too far from the swamp never come home. You can only leave. So it has been for ages, but once it was not so."

Heart stop thinking and grab the shoulder of Shiva and show positive finger. "You rule Shiva! But you show great corage and determination in save a man life like a super heroine I used to read when I was a kid! From now we shall call you...Super Shiva! Or perhaps Wonder Shiva! Pick a name!" Heart is quite proud too about Shiva courage.

Oh yes, Lilith thinks Tandal's worship of her is very right and proper. The natural order of things.

"Escartress is a protective spirit, akin in power to Quetzoral's cousin, Coatlith. It springs fully formed from the deepest muck of the swamp, where the history of our land is preserved in layers of compressed mudrock. There you can see ancient shells of the Escartress. Our traditional houses, made of peat, are formed to look like her shell, complete with sphagnum growing on it. But it is extremely rare to see an Escartress. I do not know anyone who has seen one. Perhaps it is only a legend."

"Hmmm...and that time it wasn't so?"

Nathan's pulled out his journal again and is writing all of this down (including the stuff on Escartress).  Somehow, it's completely free of the muck that seems to be covering everything as the group travels through this swamp...

"Sometime in the past, my ancestors never worried about getting home. If they wanted to come home, they just did it. Now, they fear if they leave, they'll never come back. It is a superstition, you would probably say. To us, it is a spiritual affliction. Or an attitude. You can leave, but you cannot return."

Unlike Nathan, the researcher had no need to record Tandel's insight into Encartress (At least not now), as he was drinking in the information with a rapt expression and commiting all those details to memory for later review/writing! "Ah, so the snail of legends is not only considered a guarden of the swamp and the beings tied to it, but its also associated with stability, preservation, fortitude, and pure water as well! Quite similar to the reports and myths depicting Suicune, now that I think of it! Hmm....now that you mention Coatlith, care to share your insight on that divine legend as well, Tandel?" Ventus said, before patting Lilith over the hand in affection as he felt the bust of pride/arrogance/graduar coming from her. Yes, she was indeed worthy of the respect and praise directed her way, though he only hopes she doesn't become an egotist like Michael almost became....

"Noooo! Don't you do that! I'm fine with only forename! I'm not a hero... I'm..." Or was she? Something in her mind rejoiced to be called like that. A hero is strong, right? Can anyone be a hero...?

Further she didn't came though, as Raphael enveloped her into that SWEET WARM hug... Awwww. She thankfully returned the hug while feeling an urge to drag the owner of Raphael into it as well - but she'd better not do now and create chaos. If she wasn't blushing before though, now she did, and Ven being...proud(!) of her only increased that. The spotlight...it felt weird, yet warm...and comfortable... (Very coy +1 Happiness [not really])

We even call it the swamp potato. Or Ducklett Potato. In our folklore, the arrow shaped leaves can be bewitched to point the way to various things. It does not seem to work on peat and clay, though!" He laughs, a bit awkwardly.

"You can eat swamp potato raw, steamed, dried, boiled, or store it for months with the dirt still on it. The seeds are good when toasted. It cures fever, which is very common in our swamps. The water from boiling it can clean a wound. We use it to fertilize our few crops. There are other magical uses too, but I do not know anything about those. I am just a collector and swampman."

"Thanks for that info! I'm mostly interested in the medical aspect of these elusive roots... Among the magical aspect. I'll look into it on my own then." Let's hope...Ven doesn't mind... He didn't comment, and way earlier he said he accepted(?) her own closure to the fae and arcane, did he? But just in case, she gave Ven a questioning glance (if looked closer, it'd be noticable that she's still highly yet silently flattered!), silently yet clearly asking whether he'd be fine if she'd dabble in this a bit. Just seeing what she could do... Curiosity, and she'll take care of herself... She'd enjoy to, but at the same time she didn't wanted to unecessarily distress someone important to her. How 'important' actually, she wasn't sure.

"Ehm... Interests, Tandal... Well, anything that can be made good use of. Preferably plants that Pokemon enjoy or benefit from, for example if feeded to them... Or herbs that can be used as incenses."

"Heroes its not people who dont feel fear. Heroes are people who feel fear but they fight back that fear to do what they think is right. And I think you are a heroine Shiva. You just dont think that." Heart is honest with his words.

"Coatlith is a noble spirit of greenery. It is less mischievous than Quetzoral, but very strongly loyal to its own nature. They can fly through the air, command the soil, purify water, and pass unscathed through fire. Where Escartress is a protective spirit, Coatlith is a vengeful one. It will attack anyone who defiles nature, even its own trainer. It preserves the balance of nature, whereby men can take what they need from it without destroying it. It can give sage advice to those who dare to listen."
