"...back to the topic of the 'ends of the earth'...so, if Creshire and the soil are the base of the tusk...do you think would the tip be somewhere closer to the sky?  I want to make sure I'm interpreting this correctly."

Now, they fear if they leave, they'll never come back. It is a superstition, you would probably say. To us, it is a spiritual affliction. Or an attitude. You can leave, but you cannot return."

Spiritual... affliction... A quick check in her book about the native swamp songs confiremed what she was reminded on - the elusive South Wind Incarnate!

"Do forgive me, Tandal..." *closing the book and staring at him from the rim of her glasses* "I need to ask you one more thing. Actually, two... First, you have a tent or such with ya? I don't know if we have room for you left in ours... Second, have you heard about an incarnate of the South Wind? From what I read, the Mamo were able to summon 'her'. She flies them northward, but without return... The ends of the earth are mentioned to host 'her'. I've read about it in a report from a postgrad of Telperion University - Torch Singh is his name. Is that name familiar to you?"

But just in case, she gave Ven a questioning glance (if looked closer, it'd be noticable that she's still highly yet silently flattered!), silently yet clearly asking whether he'd be fine if she'd dabble in this a bit. Just seeing what she could do... Curiosity, and she'll take care of herself... She'd enjoy to, but at the same time she didn't wanted to unecessarily distress someone important to her. How 'important' actually, she wasn't sure.

Truth be told, despite his acceptance of his dearest's friend predilection/affinity for the arcance/magical, it didn't mean it damped his distaste/fear of the vile 'arts' in the slightest, so seeing her actively pursue that line of interest was rather.....discomforting. Still, Ventus didn't show this in the slight/kept his emotions under tight enough wrap so as not to discourage her/cause as scene, and so only appeared to look neutral about this in her eyes. Hmm....

She only returned Ven's gaze/kept him fixated. "Ven, we might need to talk about things. Later. Several things." She didn't spoke that out loud, but audible and clear enough that he/his empathy would understand. At the same time, her gaze calmed. Did she fear conflict? Maybe... Actually, not really. More like clearing the waters. And agree conditions of a friendly battle to be hold sometime later!

"I do not know. I would agree that the tip of the tusk may be closer to the sky, but that is likely a... parable? for how western Creshire is closer to the sky than our eastern lands. We consider the gods of the earth to be the stronger, though the sky is no less important."

"I do not need a tent. I have a reed mat and a canvas tarpaulin that I use as shelter. Yes, the legend of the South Wind is still strongly sung, though I do not know a man by the name of Torch."

His throat opens in a wonderful, warm rendition of a familiar tune:
"Hum....breathe...Your breath is the southern wind."
Just the one line, yet clearly sung as intended to be sung.

"Many instruments are needed to do the song justice. Our end of the earth is the one which hosts the Southern Wind. The true version of the song, with the magical flutes of Mamo, can summon an incarnation of the South Wind - different to each trainer, perhaps - to Fly you where you need to go. But only Northward...She is the South Wind, and she cannot carry us home again." His voice catches.

They can fly through the air, command the soil, purify water, and pass unscathed through fire. Where Escartress is a protective spirit, Coatlith is a vengeful one. It will attack anyone who defiles nature, even its own trainer. It preserves the balance of nature, whereby men can take what they need from it without destroying it. It can give sage advice to those who dare to listen."

The description of Lilith next evolutionary stage and its capabilities, while equally fascinating and intriguiging as Encartress was in Ventus' eyes (Naturely; he is a Pokémon Researcher, after all), the frontiersman's mention of its wrathful disposition towards destroyers of nature gave him pause for though as he recalled his own anti conservation efforts on the Magic Spot in Fireweed. Wincing a bit at the memory- or rather the memory of that wretch mind invader connected to it - the empath quickly repressed the reaction and becalmed himself about the topic, though he couldn't prevent himself for worrying just a little about that in regards to Lilith. 'Oh dear, I hope that won't be a problem between us when it comes time for them to evole into a Coatlith, as I don't envy the thought of defending myself agaist an irate Dragon.....'

Once Ven was done commiting that knowledge to memory, the researcher then brought out the swamp gitar and showed it to the Tandel, saying to them : "You have my gratitude for enlightening me about Encartress, Coatlith, and the legends surround them, my friend. If I may bother you with one last question, though, do you know of anyone in Arrowroot Village that could appraise and repair this intrustment, and clean it up a bit too? My Togekiss Raphael found it partially submerged in the muk, and while I don't know the first thing when it comes to archology , I do know a relic of a past when I see one, and know how valuable one is in fine condition."

More writing...and then Nathan puts his writing utensil down and sighs.

"It's almost certainly a parable..."

'...a journey from one end of Creshire to the other...from earth to sky...darn it...we don't have enough time, and we still don't have any clues about what the 'beginning of the land' might be, nor exactly where the other 'end of the earth' is...'

Ventus only gave a slit tilt of his head to her silent request/silent demand to indicate he received it loud and clear, before re-focusing his attention on Tandel once more. He had a feeling that discussion wouldn't be the most pleasant for himself, but how could he deny his dearest friend when she felt so strongly about this?

Many instruments are needed to... Whoahw. "Ven, by all means, KEEP THAT INSTRUMENT YOU FOUND. At least for a little, please... Magical flutes, summoning the South Wind... The ends of the earth host the South Wind, among with 'mighty legends, swamp and mountain'! You're getting it? It's getting warmer... Though, it's a journey without return, as 'she' cannot fly us home..."

"'Your breath is the Southern Wind'... It makes sense now! 'The forests have been thinned, cotton and fruit grown tall by summer storm'... Thank you, Tandal. Really, now YOU deserve my thanks for being so patiently with answering our questions!" Shiva does not really have a singing voice - but the way she softly and warmly spoke out the lyrics were just as good as singing them. Or so she thought.

Startled once again by the sudden intensity of Shiva's moment of realization and plea, he could only say to her: "Very well then, Shiva! It'll remain in my possession until we can determine whether or not it can help assist us to reach 'the ends of the earth.' I do believe you may be onto something with this theory of yours! If it makes any difference, I also found a ball like instrument prior to entering this swamp, but I'm afraid that it was an object of a more recent era, judging by the tag I found attached with it....*Pulls that tag out to show to Shiva/Everyone, before putting it away when all had gotten a good look at it*"
