[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
Shiva actually spend a pleasant rest, more pleasant than she might have believed she would. The aftermaths of the day and hearing how Ven was 'very very proud' of her was still fresh in her mind as she layed herself down, cuddled up close to her beloved fairy-fluffball while trusting in Braixen and Yena guarding the campsite and alerting her in time should problems arise. She was the last one to head into tent as she spend a little calm alone time by the glowing campfire noting down the things the others told about Escartress (the Pokemon) in her star-patterned hardcover journal. (Note, I won't make her note stuff while the others talk like Nathan does)

She also was the last one to get up in the morning, after being awoken by a distressed hissing of a Pokemon she very well knew... Hearing Ven practically storm outside of the tent strengthened what she already feared. How Apsis managed to get herself into trouble, Shiva didn't get... Eh, well, it's way too early in the morning anyway.

When she came outside though and saw nobody than Tandal around, she couldn't help but to sigh impercible and feel a tad bit helpless about the situation...

Well, let's hope the others will come back sooner or later in once piece, shall we, my dear?
*petting her butterwolfly and magical fox* Not much else we can do, can we?

To pass the time, though, she encouraged Tandal following her to investigate the nearby surroundings and see whether any useful plants or herbs grow nearby. Not before freeing that Oddish from the trap it has fallen into, though! It was partial Poison Type, true, but Shiva just couldn't help... Braixen was coming along too to scout the nearby area and alert his Master about any curiosities he or his keen sense of smell might stumble over. He seemed fine to walk hand in paw with his Master.

...It indeed didn't take long until he indeed grew nervous and caught Shiva's attention by gently nudging her with his nose, before staring up high into one of the spruce trees! At first, Shiva couldn't see anything particular up there, but on second glance and adjusting her glasses a bit she did - AND IMMEDIATLEY SHUTTERED FROM THE SCENE. In all peace, a Pineco was hanging there, thinking (hopefully) nothing bad... It didn't need much to remember how this species are likely to explode if falling, and even less to bring back Shiva's memories about her Plusle being...lethally wounded...back then...

NO, this time was different. She's not going to...back down now... Even if her mind just screamed and pleaded her to flee. She'd just have to...be cautious and think and rethink twice before taking even the slightest action, right?

If he haven't noticed by now on his own, she also carefully alerted Tandal over this Bug Type up there, while pulling him and Braixen behind a nearby hedeout from which she'd be in reach of Pineco, but safe from being noticed by this Pokemon itself. "You saw it, too? I don't want to imagine what may happen if it falls down nearby an innocent traveler or worse - nearby a batch of innocent Pokemon. Keep your Yanma ready, please... And let me take a look again..."

---------------
Mechanics:
Before doing anything, an Insight +? Roll would be helpful to see if Shiva's new and developing senses are able to pick up anything from this Pineco that should be considered.
The next course of action would be safely = from hideout settle up to deal as much damage to Pineco in one go as possible as a suprise attack, Air Slash from Tandal's Yanma can help here too. The bad thing is that this Pokemon has Sturdy Ability - that means there's always a chance it might still explode - unless Shiva would be swift enough to hit it with a Pokeball just before that may happen.

Tandal demonstrates how to clear your camp of Oddish: Grab them by the leaves (it doesn't hurt them) and spin them over your head until they are dizzy, then release! They fly far from camp and never regain their bearings until enough moonlight reinvigorates their wandering.

*rolls*

You detect nothing from the Pineco, but you can spy that it is awake and alert.

Ambush: (5)(1)(5)(3)(3) 2 successes
Alert: 1 Insight + 4 Survival + 1 alert
(5)(6)(5)(4)(6)(2)

Time slows as Pineco releases its branch and begins falling toward Shiva's location....

Yanma: (5) + 3 Dex + 4 survival = 12
Braixen: (6) + 5 = 11
Pineco: (5) + 2 Dex + 4 Survival = 11

Proximity: (2)

Nathan arrives only a round before Ventus. They find Apsis, surrounded by no less than six Ninjask, with the leg of one in her mouth! The Ninjask guard the spaces between trees, each of them controlling that amount of the battlefield with whirring wings. One Ninjask has a particularly broad black spot on its face, like a natural Zorro mask.

A three legged Ninjask is limping through the air in the distance, already out of sight by the time Ventus arrives.

"Really, Aspis?  You should know better than this!  Swiftfire, Flame Charge, 2 Embers!  Focus on the leader!"

And out comes Masq as well!

"Masq, we need some crowd control!  Air Cutter, 3 times!  Strike the weaker ones en masse!"

Lots of Fire and Flying damage!  Rivalry is probably going to be both beneficial and detrimental here.

Maybe it would have been better if Shiva just STAYED at the camp and wait for the others. Because it feels like she's about to relive all that adrenaline from yesterday just because a Pokemon decided to fall from a branch!

However, way more than yesterday, fast actions where needed, so luckily Braixen was already outside of his Pokeball. It only needed one horribly worried - but subliminally determined?! - glance from his Master to make him understand. There's a Bug type to eliminate as fast as possible, good thing that from his prior living in Fireweed Forest Braixen was very well aware that bugs disliked fire.

Accuracy Roll Ember 1: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 2 Actions = 6d6
Accuracy Roll Ember 2: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel - 2 Actions = 5d6
Damage Roll: Still 2 Strength + 2 power of the move + 1 STAB + 1 Charcoal = 6d6 + 1 autodamage due to SE
Additional notes: 1 CD to inflict Burn1 on Pineco. Both Embers have Crit Chance, hope it pays off!

In a pretty hasty yet no 'chaotic' or 'rash' movement, Cottonee has been called out to the scene as well! Either Shiva did loose it that she was openly supposing her dearest Pokemon to this dire situation, or she had a plan. "Cottonee, AGAIN NO TIME TO EXPLAIN! But, I need your Fairy Wind... Use it to keep THIS Pokemon up there falling towards our direction in the air, by all means we need to prevent it from touching the ground!"

Accuracy Roll Fairy Wind: 3 Dext + 2 Fight + 3 Channel  = 8d6
Is a Damage Roll needed? Probably, even if the aim of Fairy Wind is not inflicting damage in the first place- but it could matter!
Damage Roll: 2 Strength + 2 power of the move + 1 STAB = 5d6

"Tandal, please help me by hitting that Pineco with at least two Air Slashes from your Yanma! If we get down here, we'll go down together, but I'd appreciate to continue the way in once piece! Also, does you have any move on hand that could put Pineco to sleep?" (Remember that Air Slash has 3 CD to flinch the foe, this could be very benefitial here!)

Also, Shiva was already preparing one Pokeball, one Great Ball and that single Ultra Ball she wanted to save for special catches in the big inner pocket of her Ranger's cloak (she keeps wearing it until at least until they arrived at Route10) - which one she'd throw at that Pineco, she wasn't sure yet, as she awaited how the attacks from the Pokemon work out.

Pineco has Sturdy Ability. However, if both first Ember and first Air Slash deal enough damage...

*Slight Flashforward*

By the time Ventus and Raphael had arrived on scene to assist Nathan in rescuing whatever could possibly harry the giant, regal, and easily agitated snake that was Apsis, everything had already gone full CHAOS!, as mass battles were want to do. What's more, using Extreme Speed while carrying their master left the archangel quite exhausted, so the researcher was forced to recall them to their Pokeball and, with a flick of their wrist, summon Lucifer in their place.

"Brother, our sister Apsis has run afowl with what appears to be the local population of Ninjack, so we need to halt their aggressive swarming effective immediately. To that end, churn up the as many Gust you can possible handle, and aim for the weakest targets you can spot! Apsis, if you can hear me over the din, savage as many Ninjacks as you can with Ice Fang! Show these insects who is the fastest Flyer here, Lucifer, and show no mercy, my sister!"

Order: 3 Gust per round coming from Lucifer, which will have a Accuracy Pool of 5/4/3D6 Dice , while Apsis will continue/start using Ice Fang 3 times per round, base Accuracy Pool 4/3/2D6 Dice due to inherent - 1 Accuracy. Time to roost and cool off these summer time pests!

Ninjask Swarm Round 1

Flame Charge

(3)(6)(1)(3)(1)(5)
3 Str + 2 power + 1 stab -3 vit = 4d6+1
(4)(2)(1)(6) Zorro Ninjask takes 3 dmg 4/7hp -1 pain
+1 dex

Night Slash 1, retaliatory on Swiftfire, without a second thought!
4 Dex + 3 Fight + 2 Brawl -4 actions -1 pain = 4d6
(5)(3)(1)(6)
2 Str + 3 power -3 vit = 2d6 lethal
(5)(4) Swiftfire takes 2 lethal damage 6/8hp -1 pain

Air Cutter 1 on 4 out of 5 of the little ones.
10 dice for canalize, -3 actions = 7d6
(5)(2)(6)(3)(5)(5)(2) Critical hit.
3 Str + 2 power + 1 stab + 2 crit -2 vit = 6d6+1
(3)(3)(4)(3)(4)(4) Ninjask A and C take 3 dmg 3/6hp -2 pain.
Ninjask B and D take 5 dmg 1/6hp -3 pain

The Ninjask buzz forth from the trees and grass and even the ground!

Slash 1 from Ninjask A, on Apsis
8 dice -3 actions -2 pain = 3d6
(6)(6)(1)
(4) Apsis takes 1 lethal damage

Scratch 1 on Apsis, B through E, 2d6/3d6/5d6. The hunter becomes the hunted!
(4)(3)
(5)(3)(6)
(6)(6)
(4)(1)(1)(3)(2) 3 hits. Just 1 dice each.
(5)
(6)
(5) Apsis takes 3 dmg. 12/16hp, -1 pain. 1 lethal damage is included.
It feels like a hundred little claws are wearing away at her!

Ice Fang 1 Arbok retaliates, of course, trying to finish off the Slash user.
8 dice, -1 pain, -3 actions -1 acc = 3d6
(3)(2)(2) No luck! Her fangs snap shut on empty air as all the Ninjask speed up!

Ember 2
10 dice canalize -4 actions -1 pain = 5d6
(5)(4)(5)(1)(4)
(3)(3)(2)(6) Ninjask takes 2 dmg 2/7 hp -2 pain.
Burn: (4)

Realizing this fiery avatar is too powerful, Ninjask moves to protect his clan.
Night Slash 2 on Apsis.
(1)(5)
(6) Apsis takes another lethal dmg. 11/16, lethal at 2. -1 pain still.

Air Cutter 2
(5)(5)(6)(6)(2)(4) Another critical hit, knocking the bugs back into the trees where they are impaled like the work of a shrike!
(6)(5)(1)(6)(2)(4) All but two Ninjask faint. The leader and Ninjask E are still up.

Screech 2 on Apsis
(3)(1)(1)(5)
The attack fails as Apsis turns her intimidating eyes on the Ninjask who dares to rub its wings so close! Then she eats it.

Ice Fang 2
(6)(5)
3 Str + 2 power -2 vit = 3d6+1
(5)(5)(4) Ninjask E takes 4 dmg
Flinch: (4)(1)(1)(1)
Freeze: (6)(4)(5)(1) It becomes one of those trick ice cubes with a bug stuck in it.

Ember 3
(5)(4)(1)(4)
(6)(2)(3)(5) Ninjask leader faints.

This is when Ventus arrives, the massacre already over! But it could have been quite bad for Apsis without Nathan.

Swiftfire and Apsis have matching scars on their stomachs. Arbok's persists even after she next sheds her skin, when it always becomes shiny until wear and tear dulls it again over time.

Swiftfire tries munching on a crispy Ninjask, but immediately spits it out.

Remember your brave Pokemon will take 1 lethal damage per hour until a Potion per point of damage is used!

When Ventus arrives with Lucifer, there are actually a few approaching Ninjask in the distance still - these are the reinforcements who just evolved last summer. His Gusts scare them away/slay them nicely.

Every trainer has 4XP to divide among his Pokemon, and gets 2 to keep for himself! Nathan gets +2 personal Xp for Heroics, and I'm giving 1 to Ventus too.
