[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole
You get the hecky out of the swamp.

On a baked mud plaza, the village of Arrowroot looks cobbled together by a thousand different architects.

The Kennels are a long series of willow wicker runs, overseen by a wooden tower whose lower half is steel. They're the first sign, other than the road, that you have reached a civilization.

The Pokemon Center is not in the middle of town, but all the way across town, squeezed between a few other wooden buildings. It's covered in solar panels and there is the hum of a fueled generator. Behind it, men (natives and others) are shoveling peat into a refiner.
Since the Pokemon Center was the first place to get electricity, and indeed the source of all electricity, it became the meeting hall and battling center and trading center.
It does have a PC, but it takes 3 hours for data to leave and come back. That includes email. Video is not possible.
The Pokemon Center is a big concrete building, appearing all one piece, no bricks or anything like that.

The General Store has an outdoor portion and an indoor portion.
Storytelling Center: A mud wattle building mostly run by the Mamo. This is what they use instead of a library! Contains clay tablets containing the name and address of experts, plus Elders who hang out and do their best to answer any question.

Earth Chapel: Made of stacked peat.

Sky Chapel: Built like a huge nest, lined with cotton.

Everburning Bonfire: There's always music playing!

Arrowroot Village: Refugee Camp - Xenoblade Chronicles

Nathan was totally ready to finally, finally, finally step inside a Pokemon Center.

And he immediately beelines for it, too, in quite the hurry as he goes.

He has to find some way to contact his mom.  Something, anything...come on, thiiiinnnnk...

Wait, that could work!  Her business email!

He types up a quick message to her...she always checks that email a few times a day...and aside from actually calling her or visiting in person, it was about the only way to contact the ranch, too...

There.  That oughta do it.  She'd know it's him from the signature.

Whew...he was beat...it'd been a loonnnnggg day...he just wants to sit down for a little bit right now...

Anyone want to have a chat with Nathan before I type up his end of day stuff?

Right before bed, or possibly in the morning, you get a response email.

Quote:Oh, thank goodness! All the Gym would tell me is that you were safe, not where you were. I did know you had George and Sarah. Thank goodness for small comforts. I have never been to Arrowroot village.

I believe, well, it's one of the very few places your father never visited.

That place is supposed to be crawling with Poison Pokemon, so be very careful. Also, I've attached a diagram for Rapidash splints, which you will need to build immediately if her legs are wounded by falling in a hole or anything like that. Treacherous footing, you know how it is. I couldn't remember if you'd ever made one.

Stair City is not doing well, Nathan. Already, Stable Z is past the point of recall, unless they ride all the way around Mt Sentry. And that won't stay open forever. My contact says in one week, the GPC and the Gym will be swathed in vines. The first lives lost could be in as little as two days, and that's assuming everyone follows orders. Property damage is already happening at an alarming rate. I'm most worried about Max, you know he's not a real fighter.

Love you, stay safe, and contact me as soon as you can. I love you, stay safe!

Yes, this does feel somewhat similar to her as well, but she doesn't care as she prefers not to dwell in this. She cannot change the past to undo things, neither does she want to hold any grudges, as her mind is busy enough with other things. Better not poison it, especially if any bonds to this young Trainer from a Ponyta Ranch are fragile. Too much has happened along the journey that hindered the strenghtening of it, but still she hasn't abandoned him entirerly.

She gives him an appreciating look before accepting the egg of his and carefully putting it way. (Adding it to Quickpage of charasheet) "Very well then, I'll take care of it for a little. There's no hatcher with me currently to speed these eight days up to some degree," average Trainer? Was she an 'average' Trainer at all...?, "but Braixen's internal blazing does add its piece of warmth. I agreed with Ven that he carries his Mystery Egg during breaks or campsites, but seeing that it's not too long until we reach Village, maybe there you'll have time to swamp around in your party to get a free space for the egg. Just keep me updated on your call on this alright?"

Castform, huh? That's...practically the Weather Pokemon... It's still her aim to one day being able to summon the rain to fall to her desire with her blue mouse. Well, well...

His assurance that he's doing fine earned him a gaze that remains fixated on him for a little longer, as she carefully tried to concentrate her senses on him and his feelings. Yes, there was exhaustion, worry and a tad bit of fear that wasn't too hard to imagine where it came from... She looked away though after having pondered for a few moments whether she should say something on this or not. "Well, then... If that's the thing, let us depart and tackle the remaining path 'til Arrowroot, shall we?"

Whoahw, it indeed didn't take long to reach that watchtower Shiva spotted way earlier through all the mist. Now that stood next to it and looked up to, it seemed pretty impressive, mostly because that Steel-Part looked so off with all the wooden runs and ragtag architecture the Village foreshadowed... She couldn't help but to touch the steely surface with her hand. It felt cold and emotionless. She was wondering how they breed Pokemon here, they likely rely on a more natural way of breeding without the help of Destiny Knots and such? Did they even know such a thing exists? Had their their own 'items' and mechanics? How do they hatch eggs without incubators and heat lamps, do they entirerly rely on Fire Type Pokemon? Would she learn something here that'll help her on her way to become a professional? Questions over questions, and so little time to look into them... Maybe tomorrow or so someone of these Arrowroot Breeders will be present to give her a tour or such. For now, she had to get a hold on her travel companions, as she fell back a little as this tower caught her attention!

The two Chapels where the next thing that caught her just like the tower, and she couldn't help but to look at them with awe. The two gods above and the one below, yet the one of the Earth was the greater, yet the sky predicts the earth... Maybe she'll find out more in what looked like a library over there. Some Elders where going out there when she observed this location, so it indeed looks promising!

Before she couldn't say a thing though, Nathan was already almost storming off to what looked like a Pokemon Center to her, earning a bemused headshake from her. Solar Pannels!!! Maybe she'd be able to deliver a little extra energy to the Center if she'd brighten the sky with Sunny Day? Shiva was just about to ask Ven what he wanted to do now, as Heart already spoke up.

"Hmm... It feels way to early to head to bed now if you ask me. ...Can you hear that? Music, from this direction it seems *disretly points*... Sounds like a festival or ceremony or such. I'm going to take a look at that!~ You?"

Also... "Oh, hey... Tandal... Now that we're here, what will you actually do now?" Was this goodbye?

Mechanics:
Shiva's going to ivestigate the Eternal Bonfire alongside Braixen and an artifical Ranc Berry flower in her hair. If that's a native ceremony they're holding there, she's certainly interested in seeing it as she NEVER saw something like that due to growing up in a big city! She has grace in her movements and is a dormant Coordinator, but she'll be incredibly shy, so good luck on getting her to join on a native dance with her magical fox or such.

Nathan's just sitting in the Center's lobby for now with Kirlia.  It's been a long day, and rearranging his party of pokemon was taking longer than usual...he didn't really feel like going anywhere in particular in the village just yet, though.

The Combee and Yule had more than done their part, so he was trying to swap them out for Orthros, Calam, and Solomon.  Blast...he'd have to be careful with his planning when considering what he needs out here...

And so he waits, filling the time by reviewing the notes in his journal on everything related to the current problem...

The Eternal Bonfire is quite a treat! They are roasting the native Marsh Mallow plant and singing songs in the Mamo tongue, interspersed with Common. Instruments of every kind are out, including some of the instruments you've already discovered. Pokemon are dancing with trainers or participating in the music making.

They're throwing tons of twigs on the fire. Eventually, Shiva recognizes them as the twigs from a Chesto Berry bush. The reason for this is explained to her by Tandal, who comes along too. "The smoke of the Chesto Bush keeps the celebrants awake. This may be because they plan to stay up all night singing and dancing, or because...yes, there it is. Because they have a Jigglypuff singing!"
He points to the pink Pokemon.

Sweet. Shiva will definitely stay here for a little longer - maybe not the whole night though, although she'd enjoy this idea - watching and enjoying the scene and bathing in this joy while roasting Marsh Mallow plants. Just another thing she never did before, so a few times she ended up accidently burning them up to an uneatable state.

Braixen get encouraged to join in the music making as well. "You remember how you jammed with that one person we once met and helped capture a Kricketot with? You also know that I value your luckychanting and howling, so here you have a chance to impress the other Pokemon a bit if you like! You can also swirl your basswood stick around to create patterns to go with your movements or that Jigglypuff's singing. Just...do what your feel like, have a little fun, let the rythm and tune get the better of you!~ We'll stay here a little longer. ^^" Azurill gets called out to the scene as well, but she stays here with Shiva who keeps the blue mouse comfortable close to her from her spot by the huge bonfire. "You have your Soothe Bell. so let me hear it ring in joy, dear one!"

Tandal tagging along was quite a pleasant suprise! "Chesto Berry smoke...?" *discret sniffing the air* "Now that you say it... Yes, I can surely feel how this tough aroma does help on keeping us all awake. I only have a Chesto BERRY with me, sadly no twigs to contribute."

"Does this bonfire actually have a special purpose? It looks like a ceremony for me..."

"Ceremonies may be conducted at a sacred Eternal Bonfire, such as the ceremony to summon the South Wind, which I know you are interested in. Other times, people use it as a gathering place. It is very inclusive, and none are ever turned away."

Azurill is having such a fun time jingling that Soothe Bell that she gains +1 Happiness!

She's sparring with all the small Water types there in turn, bouncing off them with her tail or jetting water back and forth. All the Pokemon form a living fountain like the one she saw in Stair City, letting their Water Guns flow in beautiful recursive patterns.

In the middle of the circle dances Azurill with her top hat, running back and forth, catching water in the silk crown. Suddenly, she is surrounded in blue energy - top hat included - which begins to grow and pulse.

Azurill evolves into Marill!

All the Pokemon at the bonfire celebrate along with her! Marill shows off a new magic trick where she locks herself in a nearby willow cage and somehow escapes when a cloth is thrown over her.
