[Game thread] Skull Ruins Pokerole

The new day dawns with a deep, deep hummmmm, a long and meandering mystical almost-tune. Then rattles join in for a time, from all the little huts on the north side of Arrowroot - cha RICHICHICHICHICHICHICHICHIchichichichichi chi chi. You can hear a few radios begin pattering on the south side from the more modern buildings and the Pokemon Center. Finally, deep, broad drums join the music from the Eternal Bonfire - BOOM ba ba BOOM ba ba BOOM ba ba. Politoed and humans work these massive brass and hide instruments.

Far away in the North, a tiny tiny answering hum can be felt in resonance, but only if you stand near the big boulders around the Eternal Bonfire. All over the Swamp, the Mamo are performing their morning ritual.

The sun cuts through the haze, and you can see just how fragile Arrowroot Village is, surrounded by marshlands on every side. Route 10 is a mere ribbon of civilization leading to a muddy dot piled with sticks and concrete.

After his offer to help manage Kirlia's emotions was politely turned down and they agreed to help Nathan open up more/come get him and Shiva if he desperately needs their support, Ventus gave them a nod of his head and let things lasp into comfortable silence between them for the rest of the night. Eventually, the empath dozed off into a dreamless slumber after keeping vigil for a few hours, but not after retrieving his own Pokémon and (if allowed/possible) handing Nathan's to the Nurse to take care of them until he was better. When the sun broke the horizon, the researcher had the unexpected but pleasant surprise of waking up to the sound of the distinct folk music of Arrowroot Village.

'Must be how they start and coordinate their day out here, when more modern means of doing so are shunned or not readily available yet,' he thought to himself, getting out of the chair he had been resting for hours in and doing some vigorous stretching to limber up, generating all sorts of bone popping and crackling noise in the process. Not the most pleasant place he slept in, but it was not the worst either, so soon after Ventus was ready to get showered, breakfast, and properly begin his first day in town via looking for sources of revenue and/or further restocking the group's supplies by any means!

.....If it were not for the fact he was waiting to see if Nathan had fully recovered from the shock of reading the email from his mother, that is.

Ventus glanced at the doorway to the boy's room in the ICU/whatever its called (he's not that type of doctor!) , and then at Kirlia, who was no doubt awakened by the morning song of the village, before letting out a sigh and spoke with his last night companion. "Kirlia, I'm going to be exploring the Center (Iron, you said most trades take place here, so...) looking for someone that will barter for a Carnivine I've recently captured in the swamp, and then be right back to check up on Nathan's condition, so please don't think I'm abandoning him in his time of need. I just need to settle some business before it gets pushed back, that is all...." *This happens before Nathan wakes up, so hopefully he'll be done with his business by the time he returns.*

Order: If trading takes up an Encounter slot, then Ven's going to spend his morning doing that by looking for a Item/Supply/Poke Trade for the Carnivine he has (No Specific thing I have in mind, so go nuts Iron!), and then immediately come back to see how Nathan is doing. If it doesn't take that long, then he's going to make a quick trip to the General Store to buy a single dose of Sweetroot, and then attempt to Craft 3 Potions using it, a regular Potion, and the Oran Berry he'll take from Lilith while visiting Nathan. Roll for that is Insight + Knowledge + Medicine, which is 7D6 Dice for me. If Failed, he'll keep the botched mixture(s) for his own later purposes, as Failure isn't always the end of things!

No sooner has Nathan thought that when Kirlia is there in a flash. He has a gritty pumpkin donut for you.

There's no words.  Just silent tears as Nathan hugs his best friend.  The donut's been set aside for now.

He's still too uneasy to get out of bed currently.  He knows everyone's counting on him now...but it all just seems so...stacked against him...

Kirlia accepts this and will happily divide his time between Nathan and looking out the window. Most of his time in the swamp he has spent running away from things or getting poisoned by them. Might be nice just to look for once, safe behind glass. 

If Nathan keeps his eyes open, Kirlia will dance for him. If Nathan wants to nap, Kirlia doesn't mind that either.

The Potions Ventus creates taste pretty bad, but not as bad as Energy Root. More importantly, they work!

For others who wish to invest in the Medicine skill, or for Crafting items, any combo that sounds like it will work and costs about 75% of the finished product, deserves a roll. Most recombinations will take up an encounter slot. And they get easier the more you do them.

If Nathan keeps his eyes open, Kirlia will dance for him. If Nathan wants to nap, Kirlia doesn't mind that either.

Nathan definitely doesn't want to try napping right now.  Not if he's going to see the consequences of the increasingly likely failure again...

Nathan smiles as Kirlia dances, but it's a sad, burdened smile...

When Shiva some minutes later reluctantly due to still half-sleepy came down the lobby, the first things she does was thankfully accepting that Pineco from Nurse Joy. Thankfully that she took care of it until being picked up, that is - Actually, Shiva desired nothing more than to get rid of that prone-to-explode pine come Pokemon that first startled her to bits then made her cry. On the other hand, she was pretty unsure whether anyone would want to have an exemplar of these at all, plus she wouldn't trade it to anyone as this Pokemon of hers knows Self-Destruct... Ugh.

Her new sweet Marill got encouraged to sit on her shoulder while doing so, and even more to use his hands to eat food afte they have found a free table to dine at.

Before he decided to beat feet around the Pokémon Center looking for someone brave enough to trade for an even more noxious and deadily Carnivine, a flash of inspiration struck him as to how to solve his own meager medical supplies (Likely brought on by him internally reviewed what he learned from his mother/at the University about Medicine), and he rushed to the General Store to buy some Sweetroot, and found someplay to play mad! (er, madder?) scientist for awhile. Using the Sweetroot root, a Potion, and an Oran Berry (Taken with some complaint from Lilith, hmpt!), he spent a few tiring hours mixing, mashing, straining, concentrating, extracting etc.. all he could from the ingrediants, he finally done it: he successfully made 3 Potions!!! While they tasted terrible, testing just a few drops on a minor cut fixed it right up, proving they would be most effective! Otherwise, he might have had to use that Pseudo Antidote sooner than he first thought!

Once he stored away his foul but effective concoctions and cleaned up after himself, he returned to the lobby and begun his search for a propestive trader, he was soon greeted by none other than his crush dearest friend Shiva, coffee in hand and with a cute but bedraggled look about her! Listening to the delight 'Good Morning!' and bashful apology she gave him, Ventus could help but give her a heart melting smile (unintentionally mind you!) and playfully ruffled their hair a bit. "Good morn to you too, my dear! I see Arrowroot's musical start to the day left you a tad bit groggy, but it heartens me to see you chirper as ever! Oh, and their is nothing to forgive about you nightly excersions, especially since I did much the same as well upon entering town! Speaking of which," the empath said, before reaching into his satchel and handing over to Shiva the $700 Poke that he sorted out just for her!

"Here! I had quite the windfall when it came to finding rarities this leg of our journey, so I though I'd share the wealth around to bolster their own funds and ease the cost of restocking on essentials! Hmm...now that I ponder it, what DID keep you up so late at night, Shiva? Forgive me for saying this, but you usually follow the pattern 'early to bed, late to rise,' so did you get caught up in something last night with the natives my friend?" The researcher's attention is squarely on his most beloved friend, so he doesn't quite notices Azuril's-or should we say Marill's new found lease on life!
